6 Decadent Christmas Cakes That Will Have You Licking Your Plates Clean

Christmas is just round the corner and everyone is scrambling for turkey and log cakes. But what if we told you that you don’t necessarily need to get a log cake? After all, there are many other cake options available.

We’ve compiled a list of the best cakes for you this festive season that actually taste as good as they look.

Cake For Days

1. Black Forest Cake By Awfully Chocolate

Awfully Chocolate is doing something different this year. It may be a log cake, but it’s technically more of a stump cake.

It looks like a stump. That’s what we’re saying. I mean, look at it.

Pandan chiffon sponge is covered in a glossy berry glaze that is made with 6 different types of berries (cherry, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry and lingonberry).

It almost looks too pretty to eat. Almost. The berry glaze is surprisingly mild and not overly sweet and complements the pandan flavour of the sponge cake.

Get yours from Pandan at Andaz Singapore before they run out.

3. Reindeer Cake By Cake Avenue

Cake Avenue is known for their funky desserts that resemble their savoury food counterparts. This Christmas, they’ve come up with an adorable Reindeer Cake ($112.50) that’s available in 3 different flavours.

Choose from Vanilla Buttercream, Chocolate Fudge, or Chocolate Cherry Red Velvet.

This gorgeous signature Christmas cake serves 10 to 12 people. If you’re thinking of getting this cake for Christmas, do order it at least 3 days in advance.

Order your very own Reindeer cake from 4. Dadar Logcake By Sinpopo Brand

You’ve heard of, seen, or eaten Kueh Dadar. Now prepare yourselves for Sinpopo Brand‘s take on the classic Kueh Dadar.

A Dadar Log Cake ($48). That’s right.

As weird as that sounds, Sinpopo Brand has managed to meld the flavours of Kueh Dadar into a log cake.

Classic Cakes is a gem of a cake shop that’s hidden in Sunset Way, Clementi.

True to its name, this unpretentious cake shop serves up classic cakes with traditional flavours such as Black Forest Cake, Radish Cake, Yam Cake, as well as the Best Ever Chocolate Cake.

However, our favourite is the Black Velvet Cake ($45). A rich chocolate cake topped with creamy mascarpone cheese. It’s a simple combination that is unbelievably delicious.

If you’re wondering what “Horly” is, don’t worry. We were initially puzzled as well. Turns out, Horly is a play on the words “Holly” and “Horlicks”.

That’s right. Jolly Horly ($38.90) is a Horlicks cheesecake.

Horlicks is mixed with cream cheese and sweetened with condensed milk before it is poured on a biscuit base. If you’re a fan of Horlicks like us, then this is the perfect cake to get this Christmas.

Forget Hyatt – Its Cooler, Younger Sister Has Arrived And It Has Ditched All The Hotel Cliches

A new hotel has popped up in the heart of our cultural crossroads. Specifically at the point where Kampong Glam, Little India, and the Bras Basah Bugis arts and entertainment hub cross paths.

Managed by the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Andaz Singapore is the first Andaz hotel to open in Southeast Asia, joining its 17 other global counterparts.

Andaz Singapore has chosen to be situated closer to some of our cultural heritage sites such as Little India and Kampong Glam, making it one of the few luxury hotels that isn’t located along Orchard Road or Marina Bay.

The hotel draws inspiration from its surroundings, such as the vibrant shophouses and intimate alleys in Kampong Glam, and weaves this ambience into its interior design and atmosphere.
