Archery Battle Tag Is The Closest You’ll Get To A Legit ‘Hunger Games’

Let’s be honest, as local Singaporeans who grew up in sunny Singapore, we’ve all been through our fair share of orientation games and bonding camps. Every CCA camp and school orientation would have been chock full of team building games that were suppose to bring you closer to your peers (let’s admit it, they did).

We at the DiscoverSG office wanted to try out something a bit more unique (and fuss free) to bring our ambassadors together. So we headed down for a round of Archery Battle Tag at the Kovan Sports Centre for a bit of bonding!

Kovan Sports Centre

Arriving at the Kovan Sports Centre, we were thrilled to find the space was more than sufficient and they even have fake grass to stimulate being outdoors.

Popular with those keen to play futsal and bubble soccer the Kovan Sports Centre is the ideal spot to carry out sport themed activities rain or shine!

Archery Tag Battle

For those who have yet to heard about it, Archery Tag is a team building programme that gets participants to carry out mini simulation games using bows and foam-tipped arrows to shoot at each other.

Archery Battle (Singapore) is the pioneer and the biggest organizer of Archery Battle Tag team building programs. Archery Battle can organise casual games for a fun-filled Saturday and team building programmes perfect for a corporate team building activity.

Archery Battle Tag uses high quality Mongolian bows and even traditional Samurai Bows (you have to pay a little extra to get your hands on these)! Picking up the Mongolian bows they’re pretty light so you can fully focus on shooting instead. At Archery Battle they’re all about safety, so they only use safe foam arrows (getting hit by one won’t hurt or leave marks!) that are still travel long distances.

If you’re completely new to archery and have only dreamt of being like Katniss Everdeen, don’t fret! The team behind Archery Battle will be there to lend a hand and teach you the ins and outs behind a bow and arrow. Our ambassadors were given a fair bit of time to get comfortable with the bow and arrow.

Archery Tag Game Play

[caption id="attachment_20232" align="alignnone" width="1000"] 5 Minute Rounds Of Gameplay[/caption]

At Archery Battle they’ve got everything planned including gameplay. Our ambassadors were split into two teams and were given missions and objectives. Each round lasts about 5 minutes so gameplay remains exciting and yet still give players a chance to achieve the objectives set.

[caption id="attachment_20233" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Game objective: Knock over the cones[/caption]

Game objectives grew increasingly harder over time after our ambassadors had more time (and more experience) with the bow and arrows. Gameplay objectives started off with relatively easy goals such knocking down the cones of the opposite team. Towards the end of the session, gameplay included shooting arrows at moving targets (other players). The increasing difficulty of gameplay made the whole experience challenging yet still fun for all our ambassadors!
