6 Best Places In The West For Alcohol For Your Friday Chill Night

“West side, best side” — that’s the mantra of all Westies (as opposed to their rivals who live in the East of Singapore who love to chant “East side, beast side…”).

Although those who do not live in ‘The West’ generally reckon it to be the land of IMM and perpetual construction projects, with some even joking that it’s basically a different country altogether, we’re here to prove that there are great bars and pubs in the West region of Singapore to get your drink from.

For reference, we’ve only selected watering holes that are a short distance away from any MRT Station between Pioneer and Queenstown on the East-West Line. This can either be a 20-min walk, 10-min bus ride, or 5-min drive, pending traffic conditions.

P.S. We have excluded drinking spots in Holland Village because, let’s face it, that’s already every Westsider’s go-to liquor place. So… let the hunt begin!

1. Idle

Idle is most famous for its signature ‘Liquid Buffet’ that provides unlimited alcohol (note: gin, vodka, rum whisky, bourbon and beer) at just $25 for women and $30 for men. While it opens Monday to Saturday 5 PM to 12 AM, according to its staff, its outlet at the International Business Park can get quite packed during weekends so we do advise making reservations ahead of time.

Bonus points if you can spot this German pale lager with quite the profanity for its name.

How it works: As a registered member, you’ll be invited to RSVP daily to the free flow drinking event. The free flow period is for 2 hours, and only 1 pre-designated alcoholic beverage will be offered.

Naturally, for a nightlife and drinks club, the featured watering holes on their website all serve up exquisite drinks, from the sweet to the sexy. Here are some of The Drinking Society’s favourite venues:

Casual picks include Bago@Lime House, a relaxing Caribbean lounge that is also the city’s first, Kult Kafe, a colonial-style bar and artsy performance space, and Mambo Beach Club, offering beachfront views and modern coastal cuisine.
