Stack is the latest addition to The Black Hole Group, known for its themed cafes. Located along Jalan Klapa, the muslim-owned sandwich deli gives you a variety of sandwiches to choose from. Being a sandwich deli surrounded by plenty of offices, Stack provides a grab-and-go alternative, especially for those with tight schedules and deadlines.

1. Chunky AF ($15)

A definite crowd pleaser, this Chunky AF sandwich is thiccer than Nicki Minaj and Cardi B combined.

If you love a good bagel, this one comes with squashed lamb meatballs, peanut butter hummus, garden greens, roasted beets & eggplant with tzatziki which is basically a yogurt based sauce.

Make sure your wallet’s thicc too as this sandwich will cost you $15.

2. The Makcik ($13)

Any makcik should know how to make good rendang and that is exactly what this sandwich is made of.

Using Rye bread, this sandwich comes with a generous portion of tri-tip beef rendang; garlic aioli; bruised tomatoes, garden greens, pickled onions and fresh jalapeños.

3. Sweet Valley High ($11)

If you love a sweet and savoury sandwich, then you’ll love this one.

This sandwich comes with two slices of fluffy french toast with country apple and peach compote, hickory turkey ham; blueberry cream cheese with speculoos sauce.

NP & NYP’s Iconic Sandwich Shop Is No Longer On Campus, But You Can Find It At ION Orchard Instead

If you’re a former or current student at NP or NYP, then you’ll be familiar with Splash n Decker or “that sandwich shop”.

It’s been 2 years since I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and till today I still remember the sandwiches from Splash n Decker. Their simple yet delicious sandwiches got us through morning lectures or for a quick go-to when the school canteens got too crowded.

Sadly, both branches have since closed down – the NYP joint closed years ago, while the loss of NP’s branch was more recent on June 1.

That Xtra Sandwich

Die hard fans of Splash n Decker will be pleased to know that the brand has moved on to bigger things such as opening up shop at ION Orchard’s Basement. Which is a major upgrade from NP and NYP combined.

Owned by the Four Leaves brand, Splash n Decker now goes by the name Sandwich Lab. The ION Orchard store now sports a new sleek and clean exterior – which is a stark contrast from their previous old school bakery vibe.

If you ask any NYP/NP kid, they’ll highly recommend the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich ($4.80) which comes with a slab of tender teriyaki chicken sandwiched between two buttery toasted bread.

There are at least 10 types of sandwiches you can choose from ranging between $4 – $4.80. They’re not as cheap as it was back during our poly days (it was only $2.90 then) but hey, if it means I get to enjoy the same old sandwiches, they can take all my money.

There are also new additions to the menu such as the Spicy Tuna Croissant ($4) and the Tom Yam Seafood Sandwich ($4.50).

Subway Singapore has announced on their Facebook page that they will no longer be serving pork products in all outlets from today onwards.

“No pork, doesn’t mean other meat are halal already what?”

I know, I know, but this also means we’re one step closer to easing everyone into the idea of a Halal Subway!

This topic has been a hit among Singaporeans as we debate endlessly in the comments section whether “To halal or not to halal?”

Just take a look at the comments.

Oh, this one’s my favourite.

Someone please, just save this poor person and give her the Italian BMT already! I almost feel bad for her potential breakup with the sandwich.

Since end of January, Subway has been in talks with MUIS regarding the halal certification process. Everyone found out, threw a fit and acted as if the world was about to end.

Subway didn’t care anyway and almost 60 outlets have stopped selling pork products since 31 January. If you didn’t already know, you can see the list here.

I get it. I’m so sorry for the loss of your pork. But please, please, give us Muslims a chance to enjoy Subway. I’m so tired of travelling all the way to JB just for a goddamn sandwich.

I understand that it may seem unfair to take the pork out of Subway for all the hardcore fans but let’s all calm down and wait for Subway’s explanation.

Subway may lose a couple of patrons because they no longer want to sell pork, but I’m pretty sure the rest of the non-pork eating community are more than happy to still patronise Subway.

This sandwich is all about the cheese, so don’t be surprised to find that there is no meat in it!

Can’t do without your meat? Then try the Wagyu Beef With Onsen Egg ($11.90)!

Now, this is a fun sandwich to eat.

The Wagyu beef sandwich is served separate from the Onsen egg, which comes in a small container. The sliced beef is tender and topped with tangy balsamic onions and 52 Sandwich Shack’s signature combo of cheeses.

Dip your sandwich into the egg or break your yolk and drizzle all that good stuff all over your beef!

The flavours come together very nicely, making for a hearty meal that will fill you up for quite awhile.

If you’re not into beef, maybe you’ll like their Pulled-Pork Yakiniku ($8.90).

With a generous amount of marinated pulled pork, pickles, and their triple cheese combo stacked between warm brioche buns, this sandwich is heavenly. The tangy, slight sourness of the pickles complements the heavier flavour of the pork, making for a delightful marriage of flavours.

Mac & cheese fans, have you ever tried mac & cheese in a sandwich? We know, it sounds like a great idea and a terrible idea at the same time.
