G’day Mate! 7 Australian Cafes In Singapore That Feel Just Like The Real Deal

G’day mate! Our experiences tell us that some of the best coffee and food in the world comes from down-under – Australian cafes.

As coffee lovers, we can’t help but fall in love with that fragrant, freshly roasted cuppa joe. Pair it with some delicious and wholesome food (especially breakfast!) and ta-da, your day is made.

Though we are in fast-paced Singapore, it is true that you can find some really authentic, slow and relaxed Australian cafes here!

1) Luxe Sydney Singapore

Fall in love with the unpretentious Australian cafe over at Luxe.

Founded in Sydney, Luxe is an artisan bakery that focuses on making their own premium breads and pastries.

Their awesomeness has since expanded into Singapore, creating that approachable environment that offers amazing food, all day.

Sourdoughs are simple, un-fancy, but it is certainly ultimate comfort food.

The sourdoughs over at Luxe are freshly baked, toasted and served with butter & their house-made berry jam. So delightful.

Another must-try – the ricotta pancakes. There aren’t many places in Singapore serving them, and the one at Luxe is a real gem.

If you are really missing Australia, Luxe has got you this time round because those pancakes are the bomb.

The Most Elaborate Milkshakes in Singapore! – A Drool-Worthy Photo Gallery

Definitely not your regular milkshake, these monster shakes are OTT (over the top) as hell. You probably shouldn’t be drinking (and eating) too much of them, but hey, no harm feasting your eyes on these photo-worthy milkshakes, right?

The House of Robert Timms

Their oversized macarons have already been well-documented on Instagram, but The House of Robert Timms is also a popular spot for their ‘Over The Top Milkshakes’.

Hot favourites include the Strawberry Whoopee and the Vanilla Bon Bon. The former is topped with Fruit Loops, chocolate sauce and rainbow sprinkles, while the latter is a shake that’s easily recognisable with a full-sized donut sitting on top.

The Lab SG

This halal cafe can be found along the hipster area around Masjid Sultan. Known for their experimental menu of creative drinks and food, The Lab SG is getting creative with piling stuff up on their milkshakes too.

Highlights include the rich Nutella shake, the Strawberry Cheesecake shake with nostalgic gem biscuits and Fruit Loops, and the Durian Caramel shake drizzled with smooth caramel sauce and topped with pretzels.

The Refinery

The Refinery combines a craft workshop, a restaurant, and a bar. This high-ceiling, airy space is known for its minimalistic decor, though their fancy milkshakes are anything but minimal.

Of note is the Chendol Mando, filled with the local flavours of gula melaka, red bean, green jelly, ondeh ondeh, and coconut cream. The Mr Nutella and Avocado Gau are also well-known favourites.

The Benjamins

Drawing attention to their fancy milkshakes since their days as Benjamin Brown, the revamped cafe and bistro, The Benjamins reopened late last year, continuing to serve up some of the best monster shakes in town.

Hot picks include the Nutella Banana Milkshake with mini pretzels and chocolate drizzle, the Black and White which is a rich concoction of all things chocolatey, along with the Old School Milkshake topped with a ton of Singaporean childhood snacks.

Cake Spade

With a name that rhymes with a certain designer label, the elaborate shakes at Cake Spade are pretty much designer milkshakes too. Or rather, ‘Cakeshakes™’, as the cafe has named them (yes, complete with the trademark).

The Unicone Cakeshake is a standout pick, promising a sugar rush and an Instagram session with its rainbow sprinkles and cotton candy. Of course, Cake Spade offers other cafe fare on the menu too, so customers can have their Cakeshake with even more cake, or wash it down with some tea or coffee.
