How to eat: Pick a skewer, dip it in boiling hot soup, remove it after 2-3 minutes, put some sauce on a styrofoam box, dip skewer in sauce and enjoy. Once you’re done, dispose the box and let the food truck operator count the sticks.

7. Too lazy to travel? Have it all in one at Lot 10 Hutong Food Court

8. Dive into piles of durians at Donald’s Durian
Malaysians loveeeee durians. They’d eat it for dinner and they’d even queue up for an all-you-can-eat durian buffet. If you want to go over-induldge on the King of Fruits, just head to Donald’s and give D24 or Musang King a go. But make sure you keep Musang King for the last (save the best for the last!) because it has a very strong and distinct flavour, and tend to overpower every other breed of durian.

Now that you’ve a happy tummy, it’s time to burn some calories with these 7 activities to do when you’re in town. Fun fact: KLites enjoy spending their weekends at shopping malls because it’s cheap to shop there and they can enjoy air-conditioning.
1. Sing “Hello from the other side…” at the 86th floor of the Petronas Twin Towers

Soaring to a height of 451.9 metres, the 88-storey twin structure is Kuala Lumpur’s crown jewel. 170m above ground is the Sky Bridge, a double decker bridge connecting the two structures at the 41st and 42nd floor. Ascend even higher to the 86th floor for a different view of KL. Tickets are priced at RM84.80 (S$29.40) for adults and RM 31.80 (S$11) for children.

2. Put your negotiation skills to the test at Chinatown Petaling Street
From Rolex, Louis Vuitton to Dr. Dre’s beats headphones… the street is effectively one long market that specialises in counterfeit goods. Just name it and they’ll give you ten different patterns of it. Goods there are usually marked up at a ridiculous price so be sure to bargain your way (at least 50%) to the best price. The place may look a little dodgy at night but do check out their Reggae Bar (12.00pm – 02:00am) that will make you go rasta la vista, baby!

3. Be awed by Lord Murugan’s statue at the Batu Caves
Batu Caves is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside of India and the limestone that forms the cave is said to be around 400 million years old. If you’d like to visit the temple, please dress decently (strictly no shorts allowed) and behave well. The site operator will not allow you to climb the stairs if you are not properly dressed.

4. Shop till you drop at Bukit Bintang
It’s no wonder Bukit Bintang is KL’s most happening shopping district. With 5 malls within the area, everyone’s needs is well take care of. And the best part? They’re all within walking distance! For the big spenders, indulge in brands such as Celine, Miu Miu, Kate Spade NY or even grab a pair of Jimmy Choo’s at Pavilion. For those with a smaller budget, check out Berjaya Times Square and Sugei Wang Plaza for the latest trends at a reasonable price. Need a gadget? Head over to Low Yat Plaza to get your IT fix. And for those who love reading, you have to check out Fahrenheit 88‘s BookXcess (Malaysia’s cheapest bookstore).
Bukit Bintang

5. Beat insomnia with booze and music at Changkat Bukit Bintang
Bukit Bintang never sleeps. After sunset, Changkat lights up the street with beats playing from the hippest clubs and bars of KL. For those who want to dance till dawn, Zion Club‘s neon-lit dance floor will keep you spinning around. There’s also Havana Bar & Grill for those who like to spice things up with a samba. Love jazz music? No Black Tie has some sophisticated and laid back acts lined up for you. Or if resto-bar is your thing, check out Nagaba Bar & Restaurant, The Green Man, or The Rabbit Hole. They’re all along the same street.
Changkat Bukit Bintang

6. Check out local streetwear brand Pestle & Mortar while sipping coffee at League of Captains
When you can’t decide to coffee or to shop, head over to League of Captains (LoC) to kill two birds with one stone. Brainchild of the people behind local brand Pestle & Mortar, LoC is a 3-in-1 cafe & boutique by day and a chill-out bar by night. Besides carrying Pestle & Mortar, the store also carries other brands such as Bellroy, ICNY, Raised by Wolves and more.
