Here are 5 family day out ideas that we’re sure both you and your child will love!

1. Arts Imprints Around My Neighbourhood

If you enjoyed Arts in Your Neighbourhood before, the month-long arts extravaganza is back again and this time, it’s coming to the north of Singapore—the neighbourhood of Yishun!

From now till 26 March, there will be a host of engaging, fun arts activities for you and your kids to enjoy right where you are, in your neighbourhood!

One of the events both you and your kids can have a ball of a time at is Arts Imprints Around My Neighbourhood, a musical trail around Yishun. Start at either Chong Pang Amphitheatre (Route A) or Yishun Neighbourhood Park (Route B), and follow the musicians as they lead you from one familiar landmark to another, telling the story of Yishun, one of the oldest estates in Singapore.

Expect pop-up music performances, hands-on drumming sessions for your kids, and also a special finale: a concert at GV Yishun cinema! Arts Imprints Around My Neighbourhood is sure to have you and your little ones seeing Yishun in a brand new light!

2. i Light Marina Bay

For those of you who haven’t already checked out i Light Marina Bay, it’s not too late to head down to see the remarkable lightworks and be a part of the food, fun and festivities! Planned with both adults and children in mind, people of all ages can enjoy i Light!

Bring the kids to the Art-Zoo, an experiential inflatable playground and art installation by Singaporean artist, designer and curator Jackson Tan. Here, kids can bounce to their heart’s content in an imaginative landscape where plants, animals and eco-systems are brought to life through art.

You can also take the kids to see some of the 20 light art installations, where you can marvel at the beauty of the dazzling displays while learning about the need to cultivate sustainable habits here in Singapore.

For some old-fashioned fun for everyone, head down to Uncle Ringo, located within the sprawling space at GastroBeats—with a giant inflated baby there, there’s no way you can miss it! Enjoy carnival games and rides, and wind down for the day with street food from over 30 vendors selling everything from Thai to Hawaiian fare at GastroBeats!

3. Itsy – The Musical

Itsy the Musical tells the tale of the evil Itsy Bitsy spider, who’s gathered an army of spiders to terrorise the characters in the nursery rhyme world. A grandfather in search of his grandson becomes an unlikely hero, as he fends off the eight-legged terror to protect the friends he’s met along the way—characters you’ll find familiar from reading all those nursery rhymes with your kids!

A moving tale of the bond between a grandparent and his grandchild, look out for special appearances by Jack and Jill, the Three Blind Mice, Humpty Dumpty and many others! With an entrancing mixture of puppetry and live action, you can expect a show with stunning effects and music both you and your tot will love!

4. Children’s Festival: Dye-nosaur Gardens

If your kid is into dinosaurs, this is one place you MUST take him/her to see. For the month of March, Gardens by the Bay will be transformed into a place where prehistoric plants grow and dinosaurs roam free.

Take your little one dino-spotting and see if they can find all the colourful, majestic dinosaurs at the Supertree Grove.

There will also be “A World Of Wonder” Garden Rhapsody where music inspired by the worlds of Wizardry, Magic, Cosmic Space, Ocean, Adventure and Dinosaurs will play, transporting you and your children to each of these ethereal worlds.

Keep your ears peeled for special renditions of songs from movies like The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio sung by local artists Benjamin and Narelle Kheng of The Sam Willows and Caitanya Tan!

5. A Peter Rabbit Tale

Based on the beloved children’s classic by Beatrix Potter, Singapore Repertory Theatre’s The Little Company will be presenting “A Peter Rabbit Tale”!

The story follows Peter Rabbit as he runs away from home into the great unknown after committing one grave mischief: stealing from Mr. McGregor’s garden. Fearing what his mother might say, he goes on an adventure, travelling to new places and meeting new characters while discovering the importance of family and the great freedom of being yourself.

A play jam-packed with fun and sure to keep the kids entertained, A Peter Rabbit Tale will also leave the young ones with the important values of family and cherishing the ones you love.
