South East Asia’s First Pompompurin Cafe Is Coming to Singapore this April!

You’ve seen photos of your friends braving the queue at Harajuku and during your last Hong Kong trip, you just didn’t have the time for this…

No more regrets because South East Asia’s very first Pompompurin Cafe is coming to town this 18th of April!!

[caption id="attachment_4973" align="alignnone" width="300"] Image source: Sanrio’s FB Page[/caption]

For people who are not familiar with Sanrio characters, Pompompurin is a golden retriever dog with a brown beret. The cute little pup loves drinking milk, eating purin (pudding)and enjoys collecting and hiding shoes. He may not be as well known as Hello Kitty but his very adorable character has won the heart of fans and earned the ‘Most Popular Sanrio Character’ title in 2015.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="599"] Like many of us, Pompompurin love shoes too.   Image source: Pompompurin’s Twitter page[/caption]

Set to open at Level 4 of Orchard Central,  fans can expect a kawaii experience on all things Pompompurin at the cafe. From the decor, theme colour, to the cutlery, table mats, and a full menu of food and desserts in the figure of Pompompurin.

Covering a space of 1,900 sq ft, the cafe also includes a retail area where fans or converts can purchase a variety of merchandise such as handbags, water bottles, and plush toys. Also, the cafe can only accommodate a total of 78 people. You might want to be early and start queuing up before its go time.

You’ve Surely Gone Through These 10 Mind-Boggling Thoughts If You Have A Pet

Animal lovers and pet owners will know how these cute furry friends can affect our lives. Yes, they can be a little troublesome and bossy at times but at the end of the day, they make us a better person.  Paul McCartney once said ” You can judge a man’s true character by the way he treats his fellow animals”. And boy, that sure is true. Do you have a pet? If your answer is yes, here are the 10 things that you’ll definitely be able to relate to.

1. As much as you want to think that you’re the boss, you’re actually the servant

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500"] source: source: source: source: dumpaday.com[/caption]

Cat: Remember how you forced me to bathe the other day? This is nothing compared to how betrayed I felt…
You: It’s ok. I’ll clean that up.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="299"] source: buzzsharer.com[/caption]

Dog: Dog wants bacon. Give dog bacon. Pleaseeee…
You: Aww so cute!! Here take all the bacon!!!

4. Pet fur? Never mind. You always have your handy lint roller on standby

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="400"] source: urbanoutfitters[/caption]

Can’t bring your pet out? Just wear it! Actually, that’s a pretty cute way to get attention from girls (guys take note!).

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BCzYQHcse8f/?taken-by=renechong&hl=en[/embed]

Because… why not? You can’t wear the same pet t-shirt all the time, so just get it inked. It will follow you wherever you go.

6. That feeling when they play with your DIY toys

[embed]https://www.facebook.com/Mr.DOGnut/videos/806593706151858/[/embed]

They make you feel like a proud parent. *Heads to Pinterest to look for more DIY pet toys*

7. You rather stay at home to play with your furry friends than socialise with people

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="625"] source: source: Yulin FestivalHachiko…major sob fest.

9. This is heaven

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="245"] source: funnycutegifs.com[/caption]

18 Unmistakable Signs That You’re A Hard Core Coffee Addict

Coffee…they lift you up in the morning. Aromatic, rich in flavour, and the list goes on. Coffee makes you a nicer person so you won’t glare at that person who schedules a meeting on Friday at 9am. And once you start your every day with a mandatory cup, it’s only a matter of time till you experience the most severe and intense headache of your life when you decide to ‘maybe skip coffee’ on one morning.

If that sounds like you, you’re in a dead serious relationship with coffee. How serious? Read on to find out.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="492"] source: rednewsom.tumblr.com[/caption]

Yet bad coffee is better than no coffee at all. You’ll still drink it anyway.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="325"] source: The Comeback HBO[/caption]

Considering how how the weather is lately, iced coffee is the next lemonade.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500"] source: devopsreactions.tumblr.com[/caption]

Nope, definitely not going back to the ‘caffeine free’ days.

18. Coffee shaming? Yeah whatever. You don’t give a damn when people say you drink wayyyy too much coffee.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="497"] source: PerzeHilton.tumblr.com[/caption]

Why do people get so worked up about the amount of coffee you consume? Go and care for other causes like poverty or fair trade or something else.

Do you know someone who’s a coffee addict? Or are you a coffee addict? How many of these do you relate to?

10 Insanely Cool Ways To Cook Eggs That You Never Knew About!

I love cooking with eggs. They’re a great source of protein, they taste great by themselves, they complement other dishes and of course, they are affordable! Eggs may look easy to prepare but somehow I mess ’em up a lot. Scrambled eggs always turn into ‘sahara-dry eggs’.

If you’re not so skilful with eggs like me, here are 10 quick and easy ways to make delicious eggs that are beyond breakfast.

1. Hard Boiled Eggs

https://www.instagram.com/p/BDgj5pkB3lp/?tagged=hardboiledeggs

Have you had dry or a greenish tinge around your hard boiled eggs? Guess what, you’ve been preparing hard boiled eggs the wrong way! (yes, there’s a correct way to prepare these eggs) With the right method, you’ll be on your way to making great eggs for pastas, salads, and devised eggs!

To make perfect hard-boiled eggs:

  1. Place egg in a saucepan and cover it with water. (Add a pinch of salt to prevent the eggs from cracking)
  2. Heat the pan on high heat and until the water is full on boiling. (Do not over boil)
  3. Turn off the fire but keep the pan on the stove. Cover it with a lid and let it sit for 12 minutes.
  4. After 12 minutes, strain the heated water and run cold water over the eggs.

2. Shakshuka

Now here’s a magnificent recipe that will impress. Shakshuka is a Middle Eastern dish of eggs poached in sauces of tomatoes, peppers and onions. It is healthy, comforting and flavourful. Best made on a lazy weekend.

  5. Crack the eggs over the tomato mixture, one in the middle and 5 around the edges of the pan. Cover the pan and simmer for another 10-15 minutes or until eggs are cooked.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve it with crusty bread.

7. Frittata

Frittata is an Italian egg based dish similar to a crustless quiche.  Like omelettes, frittata can be filled with meat, cheese, vegetables but they are thicker in size and richer in flavour.

[embed]https://www.facebook.com/BuzzFeedFood/videos/1222256521120905/[/embed]

Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potato, diced
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 tablespoon sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated parmesan (a handful)

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix eggs, sour cream, salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a frying pan with some butter and put in the sweet potato, red onion and salt. Cook it for 8-10 minutes.
  3. Pour in the eggs and add grated parmesan and bake it at 350 fahrenheit/ 180 degrees celsius  for 12-15 minutes.

The magic about frittata is that you can be creative with the fillings (good way to hide vegetables that you don’t want to eat but have to eat), and it is suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here are some frittata ideas that you can look into:

8. Oven Baked Mini Omelette

Here is something easy to prepare and an egg-stremely delish! We absolutely love this recipe because you can make this and store in the freezer, and then reheat it for another day. Besides, this mini omelette also makes a great side dish for a home cook packed lunch.

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs
  • 1 brown onion, diced
  • Handful of shredded ham or bacon

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 cup of grated cheese
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Stir fry the ham/bacon and onion.
  2. Lightly grease the muffin pan.
  3. Divide ham and onion and mixture evenly into muffin pan. Sit that aside to let it cool.
  4. Add milk, oil and baking powder into eggs. Season mixture with some salt and pepper.
  5. Whisk egg mixture together.
  6. Top ham and onion mixture with some grated cheese.
  7. Pour in egg mixture into the muffin pan.
  8. Send it in to the pre-heated oven at 375 fahrenheit/ 190 celsius degrees , for about 20-25 minutes.

Like the frittata, you can play around with the ingredients and make it nutritious. On a different note, pop some wasabi into one of these and you’ll have a game of roulette for your friends.

9. Simple Egg-cellent Salad

Now that you’ve mastered the skill of hard boiled eggs (point 1), try this Sriracha instead of hot sauce when preparing the egg filling.

To be honest, I think I can nail all 10 ways to cook eggs and will definitely try making the Shakshuka this weekend. How about you? Drop us a comment and tell us which egg recipe you would like to try next. Egg-stra points for you if you can tell us an egg pun!

Having a few friends over? Here’s something refreshing and citrus-ey that you can serve them.

To make this Caribbean thirst quencher, you’ll need:

Mojito hack: To make a mocktail version, omit the rum and club soda, and use 7-up or lemon cordial instead. You might want to cut down on the sugar (if you’re using 7up) and use shaved ice for a super cool mojito. Also, if raspberries are a little out of your budget, substitute it with strawberries or any other summer berries.

On top of that, the food centre has also been scrubbed clean of years of grease and grime, and a wider walkway so foodies like us can manoeuvre around with ease.
