Watch South Beach Avenue transform into an art, design, food and music destination as local communities and visitors come together and celebrate this festive season in one of the largest Christmas Art Markets in Singapore.

Santa’s Workshop @ The South Pole

Spanning over 32,000 square feet across the basement, street level and conserved buildings, South Beach Avenue is the entertainment centre of the Civic District.

Starting from the basement plaza, you can be part of the longest communal dining experience, savouring mouth-watering treats.

Up on the street level, browse and shop at the various tents selling locally-made and designed products such as homemade organic baked goods, handmade accessories, and specially curated ranges of tea from various vendors.

Also keep a look out for pop-up stores by South Beach’s tenants. You can find whisky gifts from Quaich Bar, organic products from Real Food, and Christmas hampers from JW Marriott Singapore South Beach and Caffe Vergnano 1882, just to name a few!

What party is complete without music? Visitors can expect performances from local talents such as music duo Rene & Stef, singer songwriter Marian Carmel, Jean Goh, Desiree Orien Tay, and music band Nisha and Syaf!

There will also be Christmas carollers on 17 December to get everyone into the festive mood!

There will also be a screening of Michelle Chong’s award-winning ‘Lulu The Movie’ at 7pm daily, in the film’s first public screening since its theatrical release.

Forget Truffle Fries, These 7 Luncheon Meat Dishes Will Make You SPAM All Your Money

One of the most versatile yet underrated ingredients today, is the humble luncheon meat. Americans might be more familiar with the name “SPAM“. No, not the junk mail. As in the canned meat.

You can choose to eat the meat as it is, though we wouldn’t recommend it as it’s REALLY salty.

[caption id="attachment_31344" align="aligncenter" width="564"] Image Credit: Image Credit: Burpple User Nobelle Liew[/caption]

Thick cut strips of fried SPAM served with a side of mayonnaise. It’s a simple dish but so so good.

The mayonnaise helps to cut through the oiliness of the SPAM fries. But let’s be honest, the fries disappear before you even touch the mayonnaise.

It’s a little pricey at $11.90, but it’s so worth it.

This is the greatest piece of news ever. Every Thursday at TAP Craft Beer Bar, you are entitled to their free flow SPAM fries with any drink purchase.

You can also order the SPAM fries ($8) off the menu, if you’re not going on a Thursday.

These greasy strips of decadence come with a sweet chilli aioli that just elevates the dish to another level. If this doesn’t ignite a fire in your soul, we don’t know what will.

Are you getting sick of fries yet? Don’t worry. This one’s different. It’s still luncheon meat, but it’s deep fried mashed luncheon meat. Same but different.

True to their name, these are so delightfully crispy and savoury, it’s just happiness with every bite. The best part? It’s only $6. Now both our stomachs and wallets are happy.

4. SPAM Chips @ PARK at Holland Village

Think Doritos, but made of SPAM. A SPAM Dorito. A SPAM Chip.

These SPAM Chips ($8.50) served at PARK cafe at Holland Village are so good and easy to eat.

They’ll disappear faster than you can say “PARK Cafe”.

For those of you who don’t know, Musubi is essentially SPAM sushi. Because sashimi is expensive.

Aloha Poké has managed to create these addictive little musubis, where each slab of SPAM is coated with a caramelised secret sauce and rests upon a bed of sushi rice.

For $11, you get a serving of 6 musubis. Our only gripe? 6 musubis is not enough.

This. This is the ultimate SPAM dish.

Thick cut SPAM fries piled with cheese, black garlic brown butter gravy (we know, right?), sour cream, guacamole, and onions. Honestly, is there anything better?

For just $13.90, you get to relish in this sinful bowl of SPAM. Just looking at this gives us life.

However, do note that SPAM WHAM! is only available at the Orchard Central outlet.

Singapore Streets Are Re-Imagined As Cult Films In Kult’s ‘Sin City’ Tee And Tote Collection

The creative folks at Kult have a ‘Sin City‘ merchandise collection and double takes are necessary because you probably won’t see the little change in the iconic designs at first glance.

[caption id="attachment_31245" align="alignnone" width="960"] Image Credit: kult Facebook[/caption]

Familiar yet different, we are loving these designs already. But wait, there’s more.

Foreign But Familiar

Here are some of our favourite picks from the ‘Sin City’ collection.

1. Mighty Morphin Punggol Rangers

[caption id="attachment_31251" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

If Singapore had its own Power Rangers, it would make sense for them to reside in Punggol. Ample space to park the Megazords. IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!

2. Teenage Newton Ninja Turtles

[caption id="attachment_31252" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

Is Newton the place where people are releasing their terrapins? Is that what’s happening now?

3. A Nightmare On Oxley Road

[caption id="attachment_31255" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

Well… we all know the nightmare that went down with regards to Oxley Road this year. Ahem.

4. Big Trouble In Little India

[caption id="attachment_31257" align="aligncenter" width="808"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

Big Trouble In Little China, but different. To be fair, we had our own big trouble in Little India previously.

5. Serangoonies

[caption id="attachment_31258" align="aligncenter" width="808"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

No, this is not an allusion to garang gunis. This is a reference to The Goonies movie back in 1985.

6. The Desker Chainsaw Massacre

[caption id="attachment_31259" align="aligncenter" width="809"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

Desker Road is one of Singapore’s oldest red light district. Did Leatherface pass by?

7. Balestier Galactica

[caption id="attachment_31261" align="aligncenter" width="808"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

We missed the “Balestier” in this one the first time we saw it and it was a confusing 5 seconds trying to figure out the local place in the print.

8. The Good, The Bad And The Ubi

[caption id="attachment_31263" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

We need to see Clint Eastwood carry this bag just for the lawls. Anyone know his agent’s number?

9. Straight Outta Commonwealth

[caption id="attachment_31264" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

A local film starring Sheikh Haikel, Shigga Shay, and Tosh Zhang. We’re kidding.

10. The Wolf Of Waterloo Street

[caption id="attachment_31265" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

Did you notice “Martini Scorsese”? Bet you didn’t.

11. Brokeback Mountbatten

[caption id="attachment_31267" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

We were thinking “Brokeback Mount Faber” but Mountbatten works too.

12. The Phantom Of The Opera Estate

[caption id="attachment_31268" align="aligncenter" width="1772"] Image Credit: kultstore.online[/caption]

This is our absolute favourite. Broadway classics are the best! Anyone who says otherwise is entitled to their wrong opinion.

All tees go for $38 each while tote bags are $28 each. You may purchase them here.

We absolutely love the collection. Our only gripe is that there are only selected designs that are printed on both tote bags and tees.

If you’re a fan of sweets, specifically Korean desserts, then you’ll want to try Cafe De Paris.

With a few franchises in Canada, Hong Kong and China, the cafe is finally opening its doors in Singapore on 5 November.

They will be serving up photogenic selections of elegant cakes, fresh fruit bonbons (pictured above), cold brew coffee, healthy pressed juices, and premium teas.

The fresh fruit bonbons are only available for certain periods in a year as the cafe uses seasonal fruits specially imported from Korea.

You get to choose from the chocolate brownie, mango, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, and grape bonbons. Each one is hand-crafted and loaded with your selected fruit, non-dairy whipped cream, and slushie.

It takes a while to create each bonbon so expect to wait for a bit.

The cafe officially opens on 5 November so bring a friend and a camera!

11. B Burger

Newly opened, B Burger has already been compared to the likes of In-N-Out burger in USA.

B Burger combines the traditional American burger with Japanese flavours. Expect stuff like the Karate Burger ($7.90) which uses karaage chicken and daikon pickles, and the Osaka Corn Dog ($6.90) which comes with tobiko, nori, teriyaki sauce and mayo.

Their ice cream creations are pretty interesting as well, with flavours such as Mount Fuji ($6/$8) which features a nata de coco and coconut flakes atop matcha ice cream.

Located at Orchard Cathay Cineleisure, this burger joint is going to be the next big thing. Eat your heart out, Shakeshack.

We Did A Pennywise-Inspired Photo Shoot And IT Has Never Looked So Singaporean

Ever wondered what horror movie icons do when they’re not scaring, possessing or tormenting people?

We wondered about that too. So we did a Pennywise-inspired photo shoot.

Meet Penny. She’s Singaporean, 1300 years old (doesn’t she look young for her age?) and a Libra.

[caption id="attachment_30938" align="aligncenter" width="6366"] Isn’t she lovely? Isn’t she wonderful?[/caption]

She’s Not Your Average Singaporean

[caption id="attachment_30939" align="aligncenter" width="6597"] Penny usually takes the MRT to work.[/caption]

And we’ll take the escalator. Thanks.

[caption id="attachment_30940" align="aligncenter" width="6520"] Sometimes she takes the bus instead.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_30941" align="aligncenter" width="6519"] “We all rely on SBS here..”[/caption] [caption id="attachment_30942" align="aligncenter" width="6366"] “Guys, I found a Penny on the steps.”[/caption] [caption id="attachment_30943" align="aligncenter" width="6366"] Penny gets to work.[/caption]

And we’ll go the other way.

[caption id="attachment_30944" align="aligncenter" width="6566"] Lunchtime with Penny.[/caption]

Children are in short supply in Singapore due to aging population. So mixed rice it is.

[caption id="attachment_30946" align="aligncenter" width="6694"] A cool drink and an electric fan is a must for any office lady during lunch. Penny included.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_30947" align="aligncenter" width="5677"] “Taking the lift?”[/caption]

Nope. Not today.

[caption id="attachment_30948" align="aligncenter" width="5410"] “Oh hello there. Did you need the toilet?”[/caption]

We’re good. We have toilets at home.

[caption id="attachment_30953" align="aligncenter" width="480"] She’s coming for you.[/caption]

Penny is going back to sleep now. She’ll be back. She’ll always be back.
