This Island-Wide Heritage Trail Will Have You Rediscovering What It Means To Be S’porean

History buffs and die-hard patriots, the Singapore Heritage Festival is back for its 14th year!

This year, the Singapore Heritage Festival is inviting both young and old to explore Singapore’s history and culture through a curated smorgasbord of programmes and activities.

From 28 April to 14 May, the festival will bring guests all over historical spots in Singapore. From Bukit Pasoh to Caldecott Hill, the Singapore Heritage Festivals will be hosting theatre performances, heritage tours and hands-on craft workshops.

The Bronx Is Turning 2 And They’re Lighting Up Canvas With An Epic Hip Hop Party

If hip hop is your jam, there’s a party happening this Friday that you won’t want to miss! Canvas’ weekly hip hop night, The Bronx will be celebrating its second anniversary, and word on the street is it’s going to be a blast.

Happening on 28 April, The Bronx Anniversary commemorates its two year tenure at popular Clarke Quay nightspot Canvas.

If neither name rings any bells (don’t worry, we’re not judging), The Bronx is an event that happens every Friday, dedicated to bringing both old school and new age hip hop to partygoers.

With DJs Ollie Des and S.O.F. helming the decks and hype man Mr Boo, The Bronx is one of Canvas’s weekly mainstays.

To celebrate The Bronx Anniversary, Canvas is set to throw one epic party–and what’s a party without some drinks? The event will see some amazing drink promos. Not only do you get a free drink with the $25 entry fee, you can get your hands on house pour jugs at $45.

Want to party it up with the whole gang? Table packages start at $400 for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and a bottle of House Vodka/Whisky.

What’s a hip hop fan without his gear? Canvas has got you covered there. For one night only, Canvas will be handing out special edition caps from local streetwear label SFB.

While the design of these special edition caps is still under wraps, what we do know is the caps are crafted from the same premium suede used by SFB!

Goodbye Artbox, Hello Thai Festival – Authentic Thai Eats Without The Heat Or The Crowd

If you’re feeling the regret from not heading to Artbox or you just can’t get enough of Thai goodies and eats, fret not because the Thai Festival is coming to our shores!

Happening at the Royal Thai Embassy right in the heart of Orchard Road, this all-Thai festival will offer up your favourite Thai dishes, alongside apparel and knick-knacks.

Popular Thai dishes like pad thai, mango sticky rice and thai milk tea will be up for sale. Look out for performances that highlight Thai culture like Muay Thai and traditional Thai dance performances.

G-Dragon Is Coming Back To Singapore For Another Solo Concert! Here’s The Dates VIPs Need To Know

Big Bang‘s venerable leader G-Dragon is making his way down to Singapore once again.

4 years after his solo “One of a Kind” concert graced the Singapore Indoor Stadium, he is officially coming back with with yet another world tour.

Titled <ACT III, M.O.T.T.E> here’s a teaser image uploaded online by IME Singapore, the promoters of G-Dragon’s next solo concert on our shores.

Details are sketchy at the moment but we do know this – it’s going to be held in the Singapore Indoor Stadium again, and the dates have been set on Saturday June 24 and Sunday June 25.

Big Bang fans and G-Dragon stans, you won’t want to miss this so block out those dates.

2017 Is The Year Of Star Wars – Singapore Has Its First Star Wars Festival And Everyone Is Invited

For those of you who live and breathe Star Wars, good news for you! The Star Wars Festival is coming to Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay this May.

A three day festival that begins on 4 May (of course) and runs till 6 May, this is an event chock full of Star Wars-themed activities that will delight and knock the socks off any Star Wars fanatic.

A collaboration between the Singapore Tourism Board and The Walt Disney Company, here are some of the highlights from the festival that are worth checking out!

For 2 Days Only, Chinatown Will Become The Ultimate Escape Room – Here’s What You Can Expect

Ever tried an escape room? Come May, LockdownSG and ThinkOut Events are bringing the escape room out onto the streets of Singapore–specifically Chinatown.

Last year’s event saw over 1000 people putting their wits to the test, solving puzzles and journeying through the game, in hopes of bringing their unconscious friend’s soul back.

The rich history of Haw Par Villa, combined with the compelling story line of the game made for an immersive, unique adventure experience–and that’s exactly what you can expect at this year’s Whisper of the Guardians.

This time, the story has changed, but the challenges and the thrills remain the same:

A shop house owner was renovating his attic when he discovered an old scroll, which supposedly contains information leading to the treasure left behind by rich Chinese merchants escaping from the Japanese during WWII. You have been hired to help decipher the scroll, with the promise of a share of the treasure if you find it.

Along the way, you will soon discover that there are guardians of the treasures, loyal families who swore to protect the treasure through generations, who have been waiting for the rightful heir. Your task is to locate the treasure before the thieves get to them.

Sound like your cup of tea? Gather your friends into teams of 6 and make a date on 20th or 27th May. Don’t forget to bring your brains with you–you’re going to need it!

Each game will last approximately 2 hours and requires some travelling, so make sure to bring along your ez-link card, dress comfortably and bring an umbrella!

Tickets also come with a free entry into the award-winning Chinatown Heritage Centre, which can be used after your game, to explore the rich heritage and history of Chinatown at your own leisure! (Entry is valid for 3 months, worth S$15 per person)

Expect nothing less at this year’s street festival! Soak up the bustling atmosphere of the area, which houses a bunch of cool, edgy restaurants and bars in a row of colorful shop houses.

Participating chow joints include French-Japanese Izakaya Le Binchotan, Mediterranean Maggie Joan’s, New York cocktail bar Employees Only, Burger Joint, Birds of a Feather, boCHINche, and many more!

Groove the evening away with yummy food and boozy drinks, to live performances, featuring local music acts and an exciting headliner.

The party doesn’t stop there–come night, Ding Dong’s playful restaurant space will be reworked into a retro dancefloor for the after-party.

Local bands and singer-songwriters are set to steal the spotlight at this music event that aims to bring together and support local musicians.

It’s about time we got in on the local indie music scene! Expect to see a total of 13 acts including Jack & Rai, Dru Chen, Falling Feathers, Stopgap and Kings.

Jimoto Ya’s signature ramen was created by Chef Nobumasa Mieda of Michelin-Starred Kaiseki Restaurant Mieda from Sapporo Hokkaido.

This is one grill that lives up to its name.

With cuts infused with bold charcoal flavours that are truly Singaporean, this pop-up restaurant by New Ubin Seafood has our mouths watering.

Garang Grill is perfect for those with a garang appetite, with their Western spread mixed with a touch of local flavour.

Charred to perfection, their signature USDA Prime Rib-Eye Steak ($90 for 500g) is complemented with Garang Fried Rice, where the rice is infused with beef fat and chilli padi.

End your sumptuous meal with a sweet bang, with the Mao Shan Wang Creme Brulee ($9) or the Gula Melaka Banana with coconut ice-cream ($8).
