Discover SG Ambassador Highlights #8 – Sarawak Noodles, Toys, Virtual Reality & More!

With March coming to an end, DiscoverSG has been bustling with more life than ever! Our lovely DiscoverSG ambassadors have been dropping in on a whole slew of exciting events.

This month’s highlights were full of fun new experiences and homey eats!

1. MINT Museum Of Toys

You’re never too old to play with toys!

The MINT Museum of Toys proves just that. Entering the museum is like stepping into a time capsule of old vintage toys and collectible items.

[caption id="attachment_24700" align="aligncenter" width="1048"] Image Credit: Our ambassador Theora headed down to the museum’s 10th Anniversary party!

She was impressed by the collection originating from over 40 countries, including Japan Germany, UK, and Bulgaria. All of them have come a long way in terms of time too, with toys dating all the way back to the 1840s!

You can expect the familiar Batman, Dan Dare, Japanese characters, Mobo horses and pedal cars. In case you were wondering, the whole collection is valued at over S$5million–surely not an amount to play around with.

Come drop by to rekindle that Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys (MINT)!

6. Face To Face Noodle House

Authentic Sarawak cuisine isn’t easy to find in Singapore… at all.

Thanks to Face To Face Noodle House, that’s no longer the case!

[caption id="attachment_24705" align="aligncenter" width="2048"] Image Credit: Face To Face Noodle House[/caption]

Their special noodle recipe traces its roots to Sarawak over 100 years ago. The story begins when the founder’s great grandfather mastered the art of making Jook Sing noodles, one of the rarest forms of noodle-making in existence.

The fresh homemade noodles that he served quickly captured the hearts and stomachs of many Sarawakians.

And Singaporeans too, once they set up shop here in 2015!

Our ambassador, Stephanie, was hosted to a sumptuous dinner just the other night!

We dug into delish bowls of Sarawak Laksa and Sarawak Traditional Noodles. Their secret family recipe definitely delighted our tastebuds!

There’s A Super Exclusive RSVP Only Party Coming Up And The Dress Code Is White

Ever gone partying and had the unfortunate experience of being caught in the middle of a bar fight? What about spending the evening getting dolled up, only to find out that the club reached capacity way before midnight?

Getting into a club here in Singapore can be pretty annoying if you aren’t on the guestlist because if there’s one thing we all know, exclusivity is a clubbing MUST.

[caption id="attachment_24516" align="aligncenter" width="828"] Image Credit:  Image Credit: Millian Facebook[/caption]

If you’ve never had the chance to pop by Millian, it’s not just your average party spot to let loose after a stressful week. Millian is also a spot for mini music festivals and fan meets.

Millian has played host to both underground and popular Asian acts like Japanese rock band Noisemaker and Asian Global Unit Cross Gene.

[caption id="attachment_24513" align="alignnone" width="960"] Image Credit: Millian Facebook[/caption]

DJ Martin

[caption id="attachment_24533" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Image Credit: Headlining the White Party is New York- and Tokyo-based DJ Martin. Carving out a career in New York City, DJ Martin is no stranger to being invited to private parties of top celebrities.

In 2012, this top-class DJ was selected to manage Wu World Radio (Wu-Tung Management’s official radio station), and is now a columnist in Japanese street magazine ‘411 Magazine’.

DJ Martin is definitely a force to be reckoned with, so you know he’s going to bring the party to full swing!

The Choya Aged 3 Years

For most partygoers, the clubbing experience isn’t complete without drinks.

Good news for you weekend warriors and (mild) alcoholics out there, White Party is being held in conjunction with the official launch of The Choya Aged 3 Years. Crafted from aged ume fruit, this traditional Japanese liqueur boasts a refreshing citrus taste, alongside a rich aroma suggestive of fine brandy.

DiscoverSG Ambassadors

We all know that sometimes, it isn’t where you go and what you’re doing that matters, but who you’re going with!

This RSVP-only White Party will see our DiscoverSG ambassadors partying under one roof! The best part? They’re giving away tickets on their Instagram pages as well!

[caption id="attachment_24519" align="alignnone" width="1000"] DiscoverSG Ambassadors[/caption]

Intrigued? Unfortunately, you can’t buy tickets for this exclusive party, but you can get your hands on tickets by looking out for our giveaways happening next week on our Facebook and Instagram pages!

With tickets up for grabs and free drinks to boot, keep your eyes peeled because they’ll be happening very soon!

Meet And Get Inked By World-Class Tattoo Artists At This Year’s Singapore Ink Show

Tattoos are a bit of a taboo here in relatively conservative Singapore. Once associated with gangsters and ‘ah bengs’, tattoos are shedding those old connotations and are becoming increasingly recognized for the art form that they are.

With more and more tattoo parlours popping up, and more and more young people sporting tattoos, Singapore’s body art scene is certainly healthy and growing.

This year, tattoo enthusiasts all over Singapore can attend the Singapore Ink Show, the largest gathering of international and local tattoo artists in Singapore!

Happening at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre between April 21-23, this event aims to immerse Singapore in the global tattoo culture.

and Jee Sayalero, as well as daily contests where tattoo artists from all over the world get to show off their chops at various tattoo types and styles!

The show will also give you the chance to get up close and personal with world-class tattoo artists from around the world, and even get inked by them! To avoid disappointment, do book a slot with your preferred tattooist in advance.

This Pop-Up Exhibition Will Show 16 Game Of Thrones-Themed Pencil Sculptures That Are Stunningly Detailed

Fans of the gruesome, epic Game of Thrones, here’s a special announcement you’ll definitely appreciate: there will be a pop-up exhibition featuring sculptures from your favourite HBO series on a rather unique medium–pencils!

Yep, unlike the large, life-sized structures that probably came to mind, this exhibition features very, very tiny sculptures, carved into the tips of graphite pencils.

The “Game of Thrones”: A Pencil Microsculpture Exhibition by Salavat Fidai features 16 GoT-themed microsculptures, many of which will be immediately recognizable for those of you GoT die-hards.

Look out for the Iron Throne, sigils from the various Houses, a White Walker, the Three Eyed Raven, Drogon the dragon, two swords – Brienne of Tarth’s Oathkeeper and Jon Snow’s Long Claw – and many more!

More On The Artist

These microsculptures are made by Russian artist and sculptor, Salavat Fidai, who is world-renowned as one of the finest in the field of miniature sculpture.
