Located under the red-and-white big top on Bayfront Avenue, next to Marina Bay Sands, catch the stellar performance with more than 16 sensational acts featuring astounding performers from Russia and beyond.

Roll Up! Roll Up!

Led by ringmaster Stanislav Kynazkov, who happens to be an accomplished juggles and a very funny clown too. To keep the event lighthearted, master clown Dmitry Shindrov will pop in and out of the ring every now and then to get a few chuckles out of the crowd. Look out, he might just approach you in between acts!

Possibly the most dangerous act in the circus – aerialists Katya Rubtsova and Anton Markov will be suspended 14 metres above the red carpet ring, spinning and twisting in a glorious artistic display of gymnastic skills. This act is performed with absolutely no safety nets and wires as backup.

Acrobatic highlights also includes a “fast track” troupe The Rubtsovs tumbling and leaping across the space is a whirlwind of non-stop acrobatic action.

Weird, wonderful and totally amazing – look out for the Man In The Glass Box who is a crazy contortionist from Dagestan. Watch as he folds and twists his body in ways we never thought possible.

[caption id="attachment_37960" align="aligncenter" width="4240"]great moscow circus Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

If you’re a fan of Britain’s Got Talent, you might be familiar with Sascha Williams‘ crazy balancing act that even wowed Simon Cowell. This nail-biting act will definitely put you on the edge of your seats.

[caption id="attachment_37954" align="aligncenter" width="480"]great moscow circus GIF Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

Just when you thought that’s all they have to offer, The Great Moscow Circus brings you to the biggest Globe of Death Motorcycle act to ever hit the shores. Cranking the noise level up a notch, five speeding motorcyclists will be trapped, circling around in the same steel globe.

[caption id="attachment_37961" align="aligncenter" width="480"]great moscow circus GIF Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

Also expect to see horizontal bar performers, a pair of quick change transformationists, trampoline stunt group, a double giant wheel that spins while carrying four acrobats and more.

Got Balls? Fight The IKEA Crowd And Grab A Plate Of Meatballs For Just $0.75 This Weekend

IKEA 75

There’s an unofficial rule in life that if you go to IKEA, you buy their meatballs.

They might not be of the highest quality (there are other places for that), but at the affordable price of $6 for a plate of 8, they are hands-down the easiest to satisfy your meatball cravings.

And if you have been craving the nostalgia-inducing dish lately, this weekend might be the time to scratch that itch, because the Swedish furniture company will be selling their meatballs for less than a dollar.

Wait, How Much?!

[caption id="attachment_37684" align="alignnone" width="1308"]IKEA 75 Image Credit: IKEA Singapore[/caption]

Yup, you heard us right — in celebration of their 75th anniversary, IKEA will be selling a plate of 8 meatballs for 75 cents on the 6th and 7th of October.

If the calculator on our phones are working correctly, that’s an unbelievable 9(.375) cents per meatball, which means that your meal will probably be cheaper than the transport costs to get there.

There are a few things to take note of though: this promotion will only be happening at IKEA Tampines (sorry, north/south/west siders), and you have to be IKEA FAMILY member to be eligible as well.

Only 750 plates will be sold at this price (limited to one plate per member, thankfully), and judging by how Kiasu Singaporeans can be you’ll most likely have to wake up reaaal early to take advantage of this offer.

More Than Just Meatballs

If you can’t be bothered with going up against what is sure to be a chaotic crowd, IKEA is having pretty massive discounts on their furniture as well (because they’re…y’know, a furniture company).

To save you a trip to the their website, Here’s a list what’s on offer:

Get A Dose Of WWE With S’pore Wrestling Dojo Grapple MAX’s First Ring Show On 21 Sep

Whether it’s coming across a WWE show while flipping channels or binge watching Netflix’s GLOW, chances are you’ve been exposed to professional wrestling at some point in your life.
And with more popular names like The Rock, Stone Cold and John Cena all hailing from America, it’s no surprise that it’s often regarded as a predominantly western activity.
[caption id="attachment_37396" align="alignnone" width="1080"]Grapple Max Enter The Ring Image Credit: Grapple Max: A Pro Wrestling Collective[/caption]
What most people don’t know, however, is that Singapore has a small-but-passionate pro wrestling community of its own, and if the sound of that piques your interest you can actually catch them live in action at the Enter The Ring event that’s happening tomorrow.

Put A Ring On It

Considering how visual pro wrestling is, it’s probably better to show than tell you how a local match looks like:

https://www.facebook.com/grapplemax/videos/260408821467204/

The upcoming event is organised by Grapple MAX — over the past 18 months, the pro wrestling collective has organised an impressive 13 shows, including performances at the past two iterations of the Singapore Night Festival.
What sets this particular show apart from the rest, however, is that it’ll take place in a fully-fledged wrestling ring for the first time (thus the name), which quite literally takes the action to another level.
[caption id="attachment_37397" align="alignnone" width="2048"]Grapple Max Enter The Ring Image Credit: Grapple MAX – A Pro Wrestling Collective[/caption]
When it comes to the wrestlers themselves, it looks like they’re pulling out all the stops too — performers from Malaysia and Philippines will coming down to fight, and Japanese wrestling legend Dick Togo is set to make a rare appearance as well.
With that said, the true stars of the show are arguably the wrestlers from Grapple MAX itself — these individuals take a significant chunk of time out of their lives to train up to three times a week, and performing in front of a live crowd is a well-deserved culmination of their efforts.
[caption id="attachment_37399" align="alignnone" width="2048"] Image Credit: Grapple MAX – A Pro Wrestling Collective[/caption]
An electrifying crowd, live action you can’t find anywhere else, and watching passionate wrestling fans live out their dreams? Sounds like a pretty good way to spend your Friday night, we’d say.
Advance tickets are still available at Peatix for $35, but if you aren’t ready to commit just yet they’ll also be available at the door for $50.
We’d recommend getting there early, though, because this is one of those times where a front row seat makes a big difference.

This Flea Market Is Painting S’pore CMYK From 20-23 Sep, With Over 500 International Stalls

When it comes to flea markets, no one does it better than the Thais — from Chatuchak to Pratunam to Rot Fai, these chaotic, yet rewarding shopping hubs provide a one-of-a-kind experience that you can’t find anywhere else.
One major problem with these Thai markets, however, is that they’re…well, located in Thailand, which means that we’re only able to visit them a few days out of every year at most.
[caption id="attachment_37309" align="aligncenter" width="595"]CMYK Image Credit: CMYK[/caption]

If you’re already experiencing withdrawal symptoms since your last Bangkok trip, you’ll be glad to know that another Thai-inspired flea market called CMYK: The Shade Of Young Enterprise is making their way to our shores this week.

More Stalls Than Ever

Short for “Creative Millennials Youth Karnival” (points for creativity, we guess), the market aims to “give visitors fresh new experiences for connecting, communicating, showcasing, and purchasing”.
Sounds like a worthy cause, but the key takeaway here is that there’ll be more than 500 stalls selling food, clothes, handicrafts and more.
[caption id="attachment_37307" align="alignnone" width="1080"]CMYK Image Credit: Cereal Citizen[/caption]
So who exactly will be running these stalls? Well, the usual hipster suspects like Cereal Citizen and The Bulb Station will be making expected appearances, and with vendors from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand (duh), Hong Kong and Australia setting up shop as well, you’re bound to find something worth spending your money on.
[caption id="attachment_37314" align="alignnone" width="1192"] Image Credit: CMYK[/caption]
In true Thai market fashion, shopping isn’t the only thing you can do there — there’ll be a host of live music performances to keep you sane as you trudge through the crowds, as well as “motivational talks by international leading entrepreneurs” to keep in line with the young business motif that they’ve cultivated for themselves.
[caption id="attachment_37308" align="aligncenter" width="600"]CMYK Yup, looks like a Thai Flea market to us.
The CMYK market will open from the 20th to 23rd of September (this Thursday to Sunday for those who don’t use calendars) at Bayfront Event Space, from 3pm to 11pm.
Admission is also free, which may or may not be a good thing depending on how much you hate people. At least you’re getting the real Thai market experience this way?

$3,000 Is Up For Grabs At BeLive’s In-App Trivia Game – Here Are 3 Hacks To Help You Win

belive master brain

If you’ve played HQ Trivia, the viral app that lets their users participate in a live trivia game, you’ve probably wondered: “Is there a way to cheat the system?”

Now Singapore has their own version of HQ Trivia as well. With the success of its first live trivia gameshow earlier in February, BeLive has started to roll out daily live trivia gameshow at 9pm since 14 March. It has been renamed as “Master Brain” and users can win up to S$1,000 a day!

There are a total of 10 questions for you to answer and you only have 10 seconds to pick the right option. Get one wrong and you’re out of the game.

Winners get to split the cash prize of the day. However, if there are no winners, the money rolls over to the next day.

[caption id="attachment_37262" align="aligncenter" width="1920"]belive master brain Image Credit: GIF Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

It’s important to note that this isn’t a foolproof strategy. Firstly, this tactic works best with straightforward questions that lend themselves well to searches.

The trick is not to ask the exact question but rather focus on the keywords and pray to the Google Gods that their powerful search engine will surface the needed information.

Is cheating at Master Brain through a voice google search unethical? Maybe. Certainly it was something their game designers anticipated and the time limit alone suggests that they’re trying to make it hard to do.

Two Brains Are Better Than One

You might think it’s smooth sailing as you breeze through the first few rounds but the majority of players get booted around the sixth or seventh round.

[caption id="attachment_37263" align="aligncenter" width="6000"]belive master brain Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

Outsmarting the game by frantically Googling the answers to your questions in hopes that you’ll get the correct answer under 10 seconds is impractical at best. So the next best thing you can do is to gather a group of friends and pray that someone in your group knows the answer to the questions.

Let’s face it, even if you win, you’re most likely only going to win a fraction of the jackpot, so why not increase your chances by divvying that slice up just a lil more.

Just be sure that when everyone is huddling at 9pm, everyone else is playing on their own device so you can submit different answers on questions everyone is iffy on. You’ll stand a better chance at making it all the way to the last round.

Earn Your Revives

Whenever you invite a friend to play Master Brain, you earn a “Revive”, which allows you to continue playing even when you get a question wrong.

[caption id="attachment_37242" align="aligncenter" width="1318"] Image Credit: What if we tell you that you can stand a chance to win up to $3,000 this Saturday?

This Saturday, 15 September, Master Brain will be hosting their biggest event yet. From 6 – 10pm at Scape, fans of this game can come together to play Master Brain.

[caption id="attachment_37264" align="aligncenter" width="1536"]BeLive master brain Image Credit: Scape[/caption]

If playing amongst your group of friends is stressful enough, imagine playing with at least 2,000 other strangers at Scape. It’ll probably be the most intense game in the history of Master Brain.

Before the game starts at 9pm, complete these Quest Cards which will give you an edge for the Master Brain game. All you have to do is collect stickers along with hints for the $3,000 Master Brain game from participating booths at the event.

[caption id="attachment_37265" align="aligncenter" width="1316"]BeLive Master Brain Quest Cards | Image Credit: Play a simple game at each booth while collecting stickers & redeem free products when you win!

There are 5 stickers to be collected and the completed card can be used for the Lucky Draw ($1,000 Scoot Voucher) and a redemption of a Revive.

The Master Brain game will be hosted by 2 of the most popular emcees on the BeLive app, Amos Ngeow (@amosngeow) and Lee Byung Jun (@junn0215)!

[caption id="attachment_37266" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] Image Credit: @amosngeow / @junn0215[/caption]

If you’re looking forward to earning extra cash fast, join in on the biggest Master Brain game yet.

Who knows, with the combination of our hacks, your knowledge and luck might just pay off this weekend!

Not Just For Toy Collectors – Make Your Own Cape And Play Overcooked! At STGCC 2018

It’s a good time to be a geek — after months of hype, the 2018 edition of the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) is finally taking place this weekend at Marina Bay Sands.

The annual event has strived to be bigger and better every year, and after 11 iterations we might have a “too much of a good thing” situation on our hands.

We’ve reached a point where even the geekiest of geeks might have trouble keeping track of the activities at this pop culture extravaganza, so after some research we’ve pinpointed four things that you definitely have to do while you’re there:

Make Your Own Superhero Cape

[caption id="attachment_37167" align="alignnone" width="1280"]STGCC 2018 Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

Cosplay has always been a big part of SGTCC, and if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at it you’ll be glad to know that the Singer Experience Zone is giving you the chance to do so.

With the guidance of acclaimed cosplayer Olivia Mears AKA AvantGeek, you’ll use a sewing machine to construct your very own superhero cape. Don’t worry if you don’t have any sewing experience — we certainly didn’t, and came out with both hands still intact.

The sewing will also take place in a telephone booth, so if you’ve ever wanted to bust out of one Superman-style, here’s your chance. Only 500 capes will be given out each day, so be sure to make this one of the first things on your to-do list.

Put Your LEGO Building Skills To The Test

[caption id="attachment_37166" align="alignnone" width="1200"]STGCC 2018 Image Credit: Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention – STGCC[/caption]

Think you’re good at building LEGO’s? You might want to put your money where your mouth is at the LEGO Speed Building Challenge, where you’ll have to assemble the recently released LEGO Voltron set within a time limit.

You won’t be competing for shits and giggles either — the fastest builder will walk away with a LEGO Voltron of their own (worth $300, btw), autographed by the set’s designer Leandro Tayag.

And if you aren’t in the competitive mood, don’t worry — Tayag will actually be making a special appearance at STGCC, and we’re sure he’ll be more than happy to sign your merch if you ask nicely.

[caption id="attachment_37168" align="alignnone" width="1280"]STGCC 2018 Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]

If you weren’t willing to head all the way down to Compass Point to get the $650 LEGO Hogwarts Castle, you’ll also be glad to know that the 6,000+ piece set will be for available in limited quantities at STGCC, alongside other LEGO Harry Potter products as well.

Play Overcooked! (And More)

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLnx6zk9iLI]

Overcooked! is one of the hottest (pun unintended) titles in gaming right now, so it’s no surprise that the Good Game Experience (GGXP) Freeplay Zone will be hosting a high score challenge for the co-op cooking game.

The mini competition will take place in the game’s 2 v 2 versus mode, and the pair with the highest score at the end of STGCC will receive a prize that hasn’t be revealed yet. The GGXP website lists “Ravenous Rapids” (the level in the video above) as the level they’ll use, so feel free to do some pre-competition training.

Not interested in panic-screaming at your friends? Everything from arcade classic House Of The Dead 2 to the recently released Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 will available to play as well, and you can even try your hand at the SNK NEOGEO Mini that hasn’t even been released yet.

#Supportlocal Game Developers

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiXLyhD8uho]

International games are good and all, but why not show some love to our local developers as well? Nine indie companies will be showcasing their stuff at GGXPedition, a space dedicated to games made in the little red dot.

One title you should totally check out is Weightless, one of the four games made by students of SUTD’s Game Innovation Programme. This mobile puzzle game is as stylish as it is fun, and incredibly impressive considering that it was made in the matter of a few months.

The other titles aren’t anything to scoff at either — the genres span from visual novels to dungeon crawlers to virtual reality RPG’s, and there’s even a tabletop game that teaches you about cryptocurrency.

[caption id="attachment_37169" align="alignnone" width="3744"]STGCC 2018 Image Credit: Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention – STGCC[/caption]

Here’s the best part — if you take the time to try every game, you’ll stand the chance to win a Nintendo Switch (more details here). Support the local development scene, play some unreleased games and win some free swag? Yeah, we’ll be there, and so should you.

We’ve listed four must-do things to do at STGCC, but rest assured that there’ll be a whole lot more to keep you occupied throughout the weekend. Tickets are still available, so what are you waiting for?

Last Chance To Catch The Food Trucks At Market On Wheels – Ends 9 Sept At AMK Hub

Remember when Market On Wheels took over Bugis Junction back in June?

If you missed the first edition of the container pop-up market, no worries, here’s your last chance to catch the food trucks at Market On Wheels.

From now till 9 September, head down to AMK Hub for IG-worthy food and shopping! Here’s what you can expect.

A Sugar Rush by Cereal Citizen

You might’ve seen them at previous events like Artbox. Cereal Citizen was founded by local blogger and influencer, Bong Qiu Qiu. They’re known for their signature Crododo, which is a quirky little creation of a cross between a croissant and a donut.

Basically, a donut with the texture of a croissant.

If you love everything unicorn, then you’ll love their Unicorn Milkshake and Unicorn Crododo ($8) which is topped with an adorable unicorn meringue.

Local Delights by Abracowdabra

Serving up a combination of Singapore and Thai flavours, you can expect unique dishes such as Crab Phad Thai ($10), Satay Beef Phad Thai ($9) and Satay Chicken Phad Thai ($7).

For the satay lovers, the fragrant nutty satay sauce along with the aromatic tinge of spice from the sambal chilli makes for a sweet & spicy combination that would suit those with a lower threshold for spice!

Each bowl of phad thai comes with a runny egg yolk and a medley of spices such as spring onions, chilli flakes and fried shallots.

Each set goes for $4 each!

Catch This Uniquely S’porean Play By Tan Kheng Hua And Get A FREE UNIQLO Shopping Spree In Return

Uniqlo Theatre

UNIQLO is known for a lot of things: stylish-yet-affordable clothing, their three-storey Global Flagship Store at Orchard Central, and a tendency to scream in our faces every five minutes, to name a few.

But theatre? Well, that’s a new one.

Uniqlo Theatre

We’re not joking, though. To promote their upcoming Fall / Winter 2018 collection, the Japanese brand is staging a guided play titled Modest Travels, which tell four stories of Singaporeans and their experiences overseas.

This isn’t some rookie production, either — the play is produced by none other than Tan Kheng Hua, fresh off her role as Constance Wu’s mother in the Crazy Rich Asians movie.

[caption id="attachment_37026" align="alignnone" width="2560"] (Image Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures YouTube)[/caption]

The cast is also comprised of local theatre actors such as Zee Wong and Timothy Wang, and includes singer-songwriter Inch Chua as well.

The 1.5 hour play will be presented on the 21st (Friday) and 22nd (Saturday) of September at 18/20 Temenggong Road, and tickets are going for $30.

(Technically) Free

Okay, we’re aware that not everyone is willing to spend $30 to watch a play, but here’s where things get interesting.

After watching the show, you’ll be able to fully convert your ticket into UNIQLO store credit, which means that the performance is technically free if you were already planning to get some new threads.

This strategy seems to be working, with two of the three shows on Saturday already sold out.

A performance by Singapore’s theatre elite, something to do over the weekend AND a thinly-veiled excuse to buy more clothes? We’d say get your tickets sooner than later, because there’s really no reason not to go.

Venue: 18/20 Temenggong Road, Singapore 098772
Date: September 21 and 22nd
Time: 2:30pm – 3:30pm, 4:00pm – 5:30pm, 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Admission: $30

Get Your Marauder’s Map Ready – LEGO Launches A 6,000 Piece Hogwarts Castle Set That Costs $650

Do you like Harry Potter?

Do you like LEGO’s?

Do you happen to have $650 of expendable income lying around?

If you answered “yes” to all three questions, then brace your muggle heart, because everyone’s favourite toy brick company has come up with a stunning recreation of the one and only Hogwarts Castle.

You’re A Builder, Harry!

Okay, we’ll admit that this isn’t exactly *breaking* news — according to Brickipedia, LEGO have already released four versions of the iconic HP locale, but this one is so detailed that it’s probably the closest you’ll ever get to attending a Defence Against the Dark Arts class.

“How detailed can detailed be?”, you ask? Well, for starters, the set is comprised of a whopping 6,020 pieces, a significant upgrade over the previous iteration’s brick count of 1,290.

Everything from the Great Hall to the Chamber of Secrets is included, and you’ll have 27 microfigures of Harry and the gang to really make the place come alive.

We could go on, but you should just watch this video to get a proper sense of how grand this thing is:

Avada Kedavra, Wallet

As previously mentioned, however, this collector’s item will set you back $650 ($649.90, to be exact), but if you’re undeterred by the price tag you’ll be glad to know that you won’t have to wait too long before you can get your hands on one.

The set will be released this Saturday, the 1st of September, and it’s such a big deal that LEGO is currently holding a launch event for it at Compass One mall (sorry, west siders).

To sweeten the deal, early adopters will be treated to an exclusive “mosaic gift” that supposedly can’t be bought anywhere else.

For those who don’t have the cash but still want to join in the festivities, there’s still a host of Potter-themed activities to partake in, including the building of a 152cm x 152cm mosaic of the franchise’s titular character.

The event only ends on the 9th of September, so don’t feel too pressured to make an impulse buy — considering the price, we aren’t expecting these to fly off the shelves.
