We Want S’more Marshmello After That Imposter – He’s Set To Spin For Real At Zoukout 2017

Zoukout 2017‘s first headliners are out! Aussie DJ Flume and Marshmello will be headlining this year’s beach party, which will be happening on 8 and 9 December.

[caption id="attachment_29283" align="alignnone" width="300"] Flume[/caption]

Zoukout is like every Singaporean clubber’s rite of passage, and for a long time, had been many Singaporeans’ only option for a rave. Of course Ultra Singapore looks set to be a permanent fixture on the festival circuit, but you won’t be able to get  a beach rave experience at Ultra Singapore!

[caption id="attachment_29284" align="alignnone" width="300"] The all-seeing eye at Zoukout 2016[/caption]

Marshmello was just here last year, causing a huge commotion when he allegedly turned up at Zouk on 10 September 2016 after his set at Ultra Singapore 2016 despite being scheduled to spin at Ce La Vi afterparty. Turns out, it was a guest wearing Marshmello’s trademark helmet!

This time, the real Marshmello will be at Zoukout, alongside Flume, who has just won a Grammy for his album, Skin, this year. It’s going to be a blast with these DJs bringing their explosive live sets to Zoukout for the first time ever.

Here is last year’s recap video, just to give you a glimpse of what to expect!

Rumor Has It The Nasi Lemak Burger Is Coming Back, And We’re Keeping Our Fingers Crossed

Word on the street is that McDonald’s will be bringing back its Nasi Lemak Burger!

A burger that received plenty of hype from the moment it was announced – and that shut down disbelievers with its tasty mixture of flavours once released – the burger sold out a short 2 weeks after it hit McDonald’s outlets across the island.

[caption id="attachment_29275" align="aligncenter" width="989"] Nasi Lemak Burger[/caption]

Not everyone managed to get a taste of the locally inspired burger, and despite queuing for hours to try the burger, many had to leave empty-handed.

It’s not just those who didn’t get to try it that were left devastated; many of us who did manage to get our hands on the burger were saddened when news hit that McDonald’s had run out of them.

[caption id="attachment_29277" align="aligncenter" width="650"] Image Credit: Superadrianme[/caption]

Sure, there are alternatives to the Nasi Lemak Burger, with eateries like Marie Antoinette, The Beast and Makansutra Gluttons Bay selling their own versions – some even with actual nasi – but they just aren’t quite the same.

Word is that we can expect the reappearance of the Nasi Lemak Burger at the end of August. There is no official confirmation as yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know once we receive any information on these burgers!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know Cha Tra Mue has been making waves in Singapore with the launch of their rose tea, which comes in three flavours: Rose Milk Tea, Honey Rose Tea and Lychee Rose Tea.

Their cups are all very Instagram-worthy, and we think they deserve the title of “Bangkok’s prettiest tea”.

[caption id="attachment_29167" align="aligncenter" width="592"] Image Credit: chatramuesg Instagram[/caption]

Of the three drinks, the hot favourite is the Rose Milk Tea ($4.50) – a cup of  fragrant Thai milk tea that has a faint taste of rose and a whiff of floral fragrance. For those who are slightly lactose-intolerant, try the Honey Rose Tea and Lychee Rose Tea. These refreshing drinks will keep you going for the rest of the day!

Antoinette serves an exquisite Superlova ($10.70) – Rose finger sponge cake with raspberry jelly, raspberry caviar & crumble, which is delectably lifted by a yuzu cream. They gel seamlessly together into a pleasantly creamy treat with light floral notes. The taste is neither overpowering nor elusive – truly a rose creation that’s deserving of admiration.

The ornate pastry is served with a Rose macaron on top, which consists of two light and crisp cookie shells sandwiching a delicate rose buttercream filling. While great with the rest of the cake, you’ll love it on its own too!

These rose creations are not only easy on the eyes, they also play well with the taste buds.

The great thing about rose is that because it’s light, it doesn’t overpower the other flavours it’s brought together with. If you love your millennial pink and love a light, floral flavour to go with your food or drink, these are a must-try.

This Smart Hotel Makes Staycations Cooler With Automated Check-In And ‘Transformer’ Beds

We’ve heard of Smartphones, smart watches… but have you heard of a smart hotel?

Yotel is another hotel to join the smart hotel scene in Singapore. With 6 locations across Europe and USA, this London-based hotel chain will be opening in Singapore very soon – first, at Orchard Road this year, and then at Jewel Changi Airport in 2018.

Recognisable by its signature futuristic purple lighting, Yotel is a micro-hotel inspired by first class travel. That is, the rooms – or ‘cabins’, as they call it at Yotel – contain elements reminiscent of a first class suite on an airline. If you’ve never flown first class, staying in one of these cabins will give you a glimpse of the experience, minus the hefty price tag.

What’s Smart About This Hotel

1. Smart Check-in

How do you make a hotel smart?

For starters, you automate certain processes.

[caption id="attachment_29207" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Smart Check-in at Yotel New York (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]

Checking in at this hotel is fuss-free – and people-free. All you have to do is check in at one of their check-in kiosks. You can even use their mobile concierge app ‘SHAGGY’ for easy self check-in!

That said, don’t worry about getting no service during your stay at Yotel. With 24/7 mission control (i.e reception desk), there will always be a team on standby to assist you with whatever you need.

2. Smart Beds

Smart beds are another big part of Yotel’s charm.

[caption id="attachment_29208" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Image Credit: Yotel[/caption]

A bed that transforms, these adjustable beds provide comfortable and variable postures, whether you’re in the mood to read, work, or just watch TV.

With a Serta mattress designed exclusively to work with Yotel’s automated ‘gliding’ bed mechanism, the SmartBed can go from a flat bed to a sofa with the mere touch of a button!

3. Super Fast Wifi

What’s a smart hotel without amazing wifi? Yotel promises “Free Super Fast Wifi”, so you’ll have no problem getting wifi on all your devices, whether you’re in your cabin, chilling at the pool deck/terrace, or are at any public space within Yotel’s premises.

Aside from the smart features, Yotel also boasts a fully equipped gym that’s open 24/7, and a pool deck and terrace for you to chill at!

Cabins At Yotel

Premium Queen

Planning a staycay with your beau? Take your pick between the Premium Queen, Premium Queen View, and Premium Queen View Deck.

The three are similar, coming equipped with a queen sized SmartBed, a Technowall with mood lighting and a 40” HD smart TV, a Rain shower, as well as all your other standard hotel amenities.

The main difference between the 3 is that the Premium Queen View Deck comes with both stunning views and a nice balcony, the Premium Queen View comes with a view, and the Premium Queen comes with neither, being the most basic of the three.

[caption id="attachment_29202" align="alignnone" width="1310"] Premium Queen View Deck (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]

Premium Queen With Bunk

Travelling with a child in tow, or got a third-wheeler among you? Opt for the Premium Queen with Bunk, which comes with a queen sized bed and an additional bunk bed.

Once again, there is the option to go with a room with a view or a room without one. The amenities are essentially the same as the other Premium Queen rooms, with the exception of the extra bunk bed.

[caption id="attachment_29203" align="alignnone" width="1310"] Premium Queen View With Bunk (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]

King Deck

Got a party of three but want to live like kings and queens? This room will be perfect for your needs.

It comes with a king sized bed, unbeatable views of the city, a balcony, and all the other stuff you get in the previous rooms, including a Technowall with mood lighting and a 40” HD smart TV, and a Rain shower.

[caption id="attachment_29204" align="alignnone" width="1310"] King Deck (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]

VIP View Suite

And finally, the best for the last.

[caption id="attachment_29215" align="alignnone" width="1310"] VIP View Suite (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]

Situated on the top floor, the VIP Suite is the most luxurious cabin at Yotel. Suitable for a party of 4, aside from the features you’ll find in all the previous rooms, a sick view and a balcony, you get a kitchenette, a dining room, a living room, an extra large bathroom, a king sized bed and a queen sofa bed, and 2 smart TVs – one 40″ and one 55″.

Talk about living large!

Be sure to keep a lookout for Yotel! Opening soon, this is another place to keep in mind for your next staycay.

Find Your Inner Peace With Yoga, And A Little Help From Beer

How well can you yoga?

As if yoga wasn’t hard enough as it is already, take your yogi level to the next level with beer yoga!

Fresh from London, beer yoga incorporates a beer bottle into the traditional yoga poses. For example, an exercise could involve you balancing your bottle on your head whilst maintaining a pose chosen by the instructor.

Just in case you were wondering, the beer bottle isn’t just for show. You are expected to down your bottle, or two, over the workout session!

[caption id="attachment_29195" align="alignnone" width="300"] You can let your friend fall, but you cannot let your beer spill! (Image Credit: BBC News)[/caption]

Finding your inner beer chakra

It’s a bit of a dispute when it comes to the origins of beer yoga, which is currently extensively practiced in Europe, America, Australia and Thailand. Some say that Berlin hipsters first conceptualized it, others say that beer yoga first debuted in Burning Man.

But whoever came up with the idea might just be a genius. Beer and yoga are both century-old therapies that help to relax the mind. Who knew a combination of the two might be able to help you achieve an even higher state of consciousness!

Also, a beer bottle is heavier then it seems when you have to balance it over your head whilst doing the Warrior or the Scorpion pose. Just try not to Savasana too fast.

[caption id="attachment_29209" align="alignnone" width="300"] Sunday pose: Savasana aka the corpse pose (Image Credit: tortoiseandharesports)[/caption]

Beer and yoga with a view to boot

For one night only on 25 August, Funzing Singapore has organized a beer yoga session for all those beer-loving yogis. Not only do you get your booze fix and exercise quota for the day, you also get to enjoy breathtaking views as the class will be held at a rooftop poolside.

The ticket price already includes a complimentary beer, but feel free to bring more.

Head to the event page on Facebook for to book your tickets! The beer yoga class will start from 7pm on 25 August at a secret location that is only revealed once your tickets are booked.

Disco David brings you into his psychedelic world to meet his eccentric friends: a Shaolin Lifeguard, the Swan Ballerinas, The Cunning Cabaret, and B-boy Goliath. Make friends with the mystical characters in a secret disco!

Be sure to go with an empty stomach as the night will culminate in a four-course meal served in the most conspicuous way possible. Psst, we also heard that there will be a sneaky cocktail as well!

KFC Just Released A Double Steamed Chicken Burger And We Hope To God They’re Trolling Us

(Header Image Source: Burpple User Hengpei Ang@jesslyn0206)

KFC Just Released A Double Steamed Chicken Burger And We Hope To God They’re Trolling Us

If it’s not already obvious, Singaporeans LOVE their fast food.

Last month, Singaporeans went Nasi Lemak Burger-crazy when McDonald’s released the limited edition burger. In fact, Singaporeans loved it so much that McDonald’s sold out of these local-inspired burgers in less than 2 weeks!

Clearly, we take our fast food very seriously.

The New Burger In Town

Recently, KFC released a teaser image on its Facebook page – the silhouette of a burger.

The image was simply captioned “Are you down for a new version of an all-time favourite?

Netizens quickly began speculating, and many of them guessed that this signified the return of the all meat, no bun Zinger Double Down Burger.

[caption id="attachment_29127" align="aligncenter" width="540"] Image Credit:

What… The… Hell… Right?

Similar, and yet very much unlike the beloved Zinger Double Down Burger, the Double Steamed Chicken Burger comprises two steamed chicken fillets, sauerkraut coleslaw, spicy pickled cucumber and sambal honey sauce.

This news was (understandably) met with fury from fans of KFC, with commenters being quick to remind the fast food chain what the F in its name stood for; “fried” chicken is what KFC is known for, not, well, steamed chicken.

Is KFC Trolling Us All?

Of course, there is a shred hope that this is all just a joke and that KFC is just trolling us all – at least, that’s what we hope is going on here.

What do you guys think? Is this a joke? Is KFC for real? Let us know in the comments!
