An Underground Bar Event With Complimentary Drinks? Basement Seah Damn Happening Sia!

It’s been a looong week and Friday can’t come soon enough. We understand the wait for the weekend can be painful. In fact, the day before TGIF is usually the worst. But instead of staying down, we’re going to get you pumped for TGIF with some after-work Thursday chill and booze. Nobody said you had to wait till the weekend to have fun, right?
[caption id="attachment_5373" align="alignnone" width="1202"]Mr Punch Public House
Introducing Mr Punch Public House, a quirky yet cosy bar we recently stumbled across. Tucked away in the basement of the Museum of Toys is this unassuming gastropub, with its vintage décor and cosy ambience. It exuded the kind of odd familiarity that quickly put us at ease.
[caption id="attachment_5374" align="alignnone" width="1642"]Mr. Punch Public House is a concept inspired by the puppet show ‘Punch & Judy’ (the younglings will probably have no idea what this is) with the Public House being Mr. Punch’s last destination as a world-traveller. So this bar is akin to Mr. Punch’s treasure trove of memories; pretty interesting concept, we have to say.
Basement Seah
Every Thursday from 7pm to 11pm, the bar transforms into a cosy dinner spot that takes you back to the ‘60s. Known as Basement Seah, this retro themed night will have you immersed in both fun and nostalgia as the DJ puts a modern spin on some of the era’s most popular swing music. That’s right, a live DJ. Who knew you could enjoy great music, booze and feel cosy all at the same time?
[caption id="attachment_5418" align="alignnone" width="5184"]Drinks
Mr. Punch Public House offers an extensive drinks menu that includes the unique Cocktail World Tour, a curated series of international cocktails carefully thought out by its bartenders. From Malaysia’s Jungle Bird ($17) to the Russian Cocaine ($14), we’re pretty sure you’ll find a cocktail or two that suits you. If you’re more into wines, we bring good news. Simply RSVP at 8339 8966 with your email address and quote DISCOVER MR PUNCH to receive a complimentary glass of wine this Thursday, 14th April 2016!
[caption id="attachment_5376" align="alignnone" width="1369"]Food
Feeling peckish? There is a brand new sharing menu that offers an electic mix of cuisines. Start with the Platter ($35/three dishes) and choose from dishes such as freshly Grilled Tiger Prawns, deliciously marinated Marmite Glazed Squid Rings, and tender Slow-Cooked Pork Belly. Though not included, we thought the unique Potato Chip Chicken (potato chip breaded chicken) makes a great tapas.
[caption id="attachment_5377" align="alignnone" width="4000"]Looking for something a little more filling? Give its signature Herb-Crusted Barramundi ($29) or its Bacon-Wrapped Venison Loin ($45) a try. Though slightly pricier, we’re confident that the dinning experience at Mr Punch will be value for money.
Whether you’re looking for a unique yet cosy bar to take your after work conversations to or a place for an evening of pre-TGIF fun, Basement Seah@Mr Punch Public House is definitely the place to be. Remember, simply RSVP at 8339 8966 with your email address and quote DISCOVER MR PUNCH to receive your complimentary wine!
With its great ambience, refreshing music, lip-smacking food and free booze, if you’re not reaching out for your phone to RSVP now, we’d do it for you.

1. Smoke & Mirrors
[caption id="attachment_4215" align="alignnone" width="617"]No, we’re not talking about Imagine Dragons’ album. Though they are admittedly pretty great and Who We Are did make an appearance in The Hunger Games. Sorry what were we talking about? Oh yes the bar Smoke & Mirrors, right.

2. Tiger’s Milk Rooftop Bar

The alarm goes off every day at 7. Squeezed into peak hour trains like canned sardines. Tons of paperwork and emails piled up. Before you know it, you’re in bed by 9 after a tiresome day of work. Rinse. Recycle. Repeat. Singaporeans, we get it. More often than not, we work too hard for our own good. Sometimes, we just need to escape all the craziness of a bustling metropolitan life. Desperate times call for desperate solitude. Instead of the usual getaway spots, these 5 rather clandestine and less well-known locations each offers a totally new experience that will leave you totally refreshed and relaxed. Nestled in the heart of Singapore’s lively shopping district, Library@Orchard is perhaps one of the lesser-known libraries due to its rather obscure location. Decked with white sleek shelves, colourful arrays of books, and a rich rustic smell of wooden floors and chairs, it is the ideal location for bookworms and jaded workers. Lose yourself in the realms of literature in this little oasis of peace. Location: 277 Orchard Road, #03-12 and #04-11, Orchard Gateway, Singapore 238858 Originally an ambitious project on crowdfunding website Indiegogo, The Projector is now a newly established independent cinema that sets out to revive the old-school nostalgic feelings of yesteryear. Showing a selection of arthouse, classic, and cult films, The Projector is a cavernous paradise for cinephiles and of course, a perfect getaway spot to immerse yourself in the crazy world of film (without the explosions). Location: 6001 Beach Road, #05-00, Golden Mile Tower, Singapore 199589 https://www.instagram.com/p/_1ZA-PPmX7/ https://www.instagram.com/p/9jB1ICODxd/ Truly a brilliant showcase of the best of both worlds, Farmart Centre is tucked in a pastoral and tranquil part of Singapore. During the day, get up-close with adorable farm animals and witness the production of the freshest fruits and vegetables. During the night, take your feet off the gas and tuck into a wide variety of delicious food, and perhaps, have a drink or two. Relive the good vibes of the kampong spirit! Location: 67 Sungei Tengah Road, Singapore 699008 Although there are arguably better parks in Singapore, this is the perfect place to absorb the quaint surroundings of nature. Aesthetically pleasing, HortPark Garden greets you with a collection of well-manicured gardens and a luscious landscape of greenery. Whether for a picnic or a gentle stroll, this park is a one-stop hub for your recreational escapades. Highlights include the Butterfly Garden and the Flora Walk. Location: 33 Hyderabad Road, Singapore 119578 No list is a complete list if it doesn’t include a place to get your drink on. A retro gastropub that shares the same location as the charming Mint Toy Museum, Mr Punch Public House is a hotspot decorated with vintage architecture and home to a quirky and capricious atmosphere. At reasonable prices, Mr Punch also offers a range of delectable dishes and drinks. This cozy little establishment is the quintessence for a quiet and enjoyable nights out.
