Back in June, Old Chang Kee announced that Curry Day 2018 will be taking place on 27 and 28 July 2018.
In case you missed the announcement, here’s the article.
They also announced that they will be unveiling 2 new exclusive Curry puffs closer to Curry Day 2018.

Curry With Jackfruit And…Durian?
Sometimes, pandering to local cuisine can take drastic turns, and this is one of them.
It may be Durian season but we’re not quite sure what to feel about mixing Durian and Curry.[caption id="attachment_36041" align="aligncenter" width="480"] GIF Credit: giphy[/caption]
Jackfruit, on the other hand, might not be that much of a stretch, considering that jackfruit is a component used in curries in Bangladesh and other parts of Asia.
Here’s a look at the Durian Curry Chicken’O in all it’s pastel green glory.[caption id="attachment_36039" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Image Credit: Old Chang Kee[/caption]

It’ll cost $4 for 2 pieces for the new curry puffs. The Chilli Crab’O will also be available at Curry Day 2018.[caption id="attachment_35914" align="aligncenter" width="2480"] Image Credit: Old Chang Kee[/caption]

Old Chang Kee Finally Opens First London Outlet – Sells Curry Puff At £2.80 A Pop
Nobody in Singapore does fried food better than Old Chang Kee. Nobody.
For over half a century, Singaporeans from all walks of life have enjoyed Old Chang Kee’s hot snacks and lip-smacking quick bites. I remember buying my favourite Curry’O after school if I had any spare change. It was definitely one of my fondest memories growing up Singaporean.
Our homegrown fried food snack chain and national treasure, Old Chang Kee is now open and serving our famous curry puffs to the people of London![caption id="attachment_34902" align="aligncenter" width="1757"] Image Credit: Old Chang Kee UK Facebook[/caption]
S’pore’s Famous Curry Puffs
Located at Covent Garden, which is London’s main theatre and entertainment area – the shop is the franchise’s first foray into Europe.
What started off as a small stall in a coffeeshop outside the former Rex Cinema along Mackenzie Road has now claimed a spot along one of London’s busiest streets.[caption id="attachment_34901" align="aligncenter" width="909"] Image Credit: Old Chang Kee UK Facebook[/caption]
It’s heartwarming, really, to see one of our homegrown brand become an international name.
We finally get to share our favourite curry puffs with the people of London and we truly hope that they love it as much as we do!
If you’re wondering what they’ll be serving, diners can expect to tuck into popular items such as the Chicken Curry Puffs, Curry Potato Puffs, Mushroom Chicken Puffs and Curry Chicken Rice Sets.[caption id="attachment_34903" align="aligncenter" width="1290"] Image Credit: Burpple User Weekendeatwhat[/caption]
“But curry puff can survive in London meh?”
If you’re wondering whether these fried snacks can survive in London’s food scene – they can! London is also such a melting pot of international cuisines, so there’s definitely a place for Singaporean food.
Also, what’s better than tea and scones? Curry puffs and hot coffee – that’s for sure!
When the chain had a two day pop-up event in north-west London, the response was overwhelming! About 1,200 puffs were snapped up in the two-day event. They were sold out within four hours each day.
I guess the British love curry puffs as much as we do.
If you have friends and family residing in London, they can FINALLY get a taste of home in a foreign place. No more 2am cravings for curry puffs in the cold weather.
If you’re ever in London, be sure to pay Old Chang Kee a visit #supportlocal

Old Chang Kee Returns To Rex With A Flagship Coffee House And A Bigger Menu
Let me start by saying that fried food is a blessing. Whoever thought of frying nuggets of meat, you’re a genius.
And nobody in Singapore does fried food better than Old Chang Kee. Nobody. Don’t argue with me on this.
Old Chang Kee has been around since 1956, way before Singapore was independent. It was operating as a small stall in a coffeeshop outside the former Rex Cinema along Mackenzie Road in 1986.
Now, Old Chang Kee has opened its first flagship coffee house in the place where it all began, at Rex along Mackenzie Road.
Old Chang Kee: Homecoming
The 50-seater coffee house occupies 3 shophouses along Mackenzie Road, a stark contrast from its humble beginnings as a small stall.[caption id="attachment_34578" align="aligncenter" width="2048"] Image Credit: Old Chang Kee Singapore[/caption] [caption id="attachment_34581" align="aligncenter" width="2042"] Image Credit: Old Chang Kee Singapore[/caption]
I remember there were a few Old Chang Kee outlets around the island that were offering more substantial mains together with their usual fried food. But they eventually discontinued the mains and my days were darker than before.
Drama aside, I (still) love their Beef Stew and the best part is that this is one of the dishes that can be found at the Old Chang Kee Coffee House.
The Baked Beef Stew Rice With Cheese ($10.90) is served in a mess tin, an odd reminder of my days outfield in NS.[caption id="attachment_34580" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: @biteofsg[/caption]
That’s not all, there’s the interesting Flower Bread with free-flow gravy of your choice. Options include Chicken Stew, Beef Stew and Curry Chicken.[caption id="attachment_34579" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: @peanutloti[/caption]
If you’ve seen any Tasty video or Pizza Hut commercial, you’d have seen pull-apart bread and the likes and this is pretty much it. Pull-apart buns with a bowl of gravy in the middle for dipping. Comfort food at its best, to be honest.
Other dishes available include the Dry Laksa Goreng ($8.50), Nasi Lemak With Dry Curry Chicken ($8.90), and the Bubur Chacha ($5).
Of course, as with every Old Chang Kee outlet, they also have their usual fried finger food available. Which means I can have both my favourite Crab Nuggets and the Beef Stew. This is a win.
This Old Chang Kee flagship coffee house is a place you need to check out because who else knows old school food better than a brand that’s been around since 1956?
