Creep On Cute Doggos At Camp Canine, A Furry Fiesta In Honour Of Man’s Best Friend

Overly attached to your pet pooch and wish there was more you could do together in Singapore?

On 24 September, there’s an event happening that both you and your furry friend can enjoy – Camp Canine.

Happening from 12pm – 6pm, Camp Canine is the brainchild of the people behind pet thug-wear label FOURS and the events team behind Camp Kilo.

Born out of a love for pets, the dog-fest will take place at Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, a restaurant near the serene Kallang riverside that’s well-known for its tasty, hearty roast and chill, laidback atmosphere.

With an interactive dog fashion show, a friendly dog race, a pet market and more, you and your furry pal are sure to have a ball at Camp Canine. And the best part? Admission is free!

For The Dogs

Stylish Owner, Stylish Pet

First off, there will be a Dog Fashion Showcase where human and dog models decked in matching FOURS outfits will walk around, interacting and mingling with guests. An interactive fashion runway, watch these outfits in action – not just on the runway.

[caption id="attachment_29864" align="aligncenter" width="637"] Image Credit: FOURS Facebook[/caption]

In the same vein of fashion, there will also be a Best Dressed Contest, where both Man and dog (mostly dog) will compete! The 3 categories are: ‘Twinning’ (best human-pooch pair), ‘Fresh AF’ (pooch with best street style), and ‘Squad Goals’ (best pooch group).

[caption id="attachment_29865" align="alignnone" width="2048"] Image Credit: FOURS Facebook[/caption]

The judges will be moving around, seeking out humans and dogs who are dressed according to the various categories.

So, deck yourself and your furry children in your Sunday’s best. Who knows? You and your dogs may just walk away proud winners of one of these titles!

Pooch Race

If fashion ain’t you and your dog’s thing, maybe racing is.

Another highlight at Camp Canine is a friendly Dog Race you can sign your furry little guy up for. All in good fun, dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes are welcome – as long as they can play well with others.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a pet, Camp Kilo Charcoal Club has also partnered with Exclusively Mongrels to set up an Adoption Drive. Get to know the adorable dogs and if you have the means to care for them, give these animals a home!

For The Humans

While being surrounded by dogs in all kinds of crazy costumes and watching them scurry around will already fill your heart with joy, there’s more in store for us humans.

Enjoy the wide BBQ selection Camp Kilo Charcoal Club has to offer, from a whole roasted pig to pork ribs. There will also be seafood like a whole Snapper, Stingray and more! Chow down on a hearty meal of meat with your friends and/or family, and let the good times roll!

Finally, pamper your pooch with goodies from the Pet Market. With a host of vendors from various pet brands, there’s no better way to end the day than with a small gift for man’s best friend.

Cat Lovers, Get Your Dose Of Kitty Therapy At This Place For Just $5

A little therapy’s good for everybody – especially when you’ve got a team of loving feline friends for therapists.

Not Just A Cat Café

While the trend of cat cafés is on the rise, Cats’ Safari is far from one.

The therapy centre was founded by Derrick Tan, one of the brains behind animal welfare group Voices For Animals (VFA). Nestled in the neighbourhood of Sunny Heights, Cats’ Safari is both a cat-lover’s paradise and a sanctuary for its team of felines. Their cause? To give loving cats a safe haven while providing cat therapy for members of the public, especially children with special needs.

[caption id="attachment_26871" align="alignnone" width="991"] Image Credit: Meetup[/caption]

Decked out in green decor, they take the safari theme seriously, with “trees” for the felines to climb on and an open floor where you can get comfortable with your new paw pals. No therapist’s couch necessary.

Meet The Felines

We know, cats don’t always have the best reputation when it comes to being the most affectionate of house pets. After all, there’s the well-known argument that cat owners are all masochists.

But rest assured that all the cat therapists you’ll meet will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The cats are rescue pedigree cats, and the team at Cats’ Safari makes sure that all their cat therapists are good-natured, gentle, and play well with people and other felines.

[caption id="attachment_26872" align="alignnone" width="1302"] Image Credit: Cats’ Safari Facebook[/caption]

A crowd-favourite feline is Merger, a sweet-faced Munchkin cat who was born with a hind-leg disability. Her disability hardly stops her from being her playful, active self though, making her a joy and inspiration for the people who come and go at Cats’ Safari.

Why Cat Therapy Is Good For You

Don’t underestimate the power of animal love—studies show that a pet can reduce stress and even lower your blood pressure. So just petting a cat or curling up for a catnap with your feline friend has positive calming effects.

[caption id="attachment_26873" align="alignnone" width="1440"] Image Credit: Cats’ Safari Facebook[/caption]

Let’s face it, the hustle and bustle of city life has a lot of us stressed out. Rather than blowing all your cash on a weekend staycation or spa, indulge in some cat therapy that won’t break the bank—admission to Cats’ Safari goes at just $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Cats’ Safari opens to the public on the weekends, making it the perfect way to unwind at the end of a long, stressful work week. What better way to calm those frazzled nerves than with a warm cat purring in your lap?

If you’re a cat lover who can’t afford the time or money to own a cat of your own, Cats’ Safari is a great place to get your dose of feline TLC. A few snaps of these lovely-looking felines are also sure to up your ‘Gram game.

If you’re thinking of spending the weekend unwinding at Cats’ Safari, be sure to call ahead and book yourself a therapy slot. Members of the public can also write to Cats’ Safari to arrange private therapy sessions on weekdays.
