If you’re not feeling like cream puffs, how about trying Kazo’s Cheese Tarts ($3.20 each)? Yes, we know that there are already multiple cheese tart brands in Singapore but we love cheese tarts and new stuff, so we’ll still eat it anyway.

Named after the brand is the Kazu Kazu. A light and fluffy tube with a crunchy crust, filled with Hokkaido cream or Chocolate cream.

For those of you who like the Walls ice cream sold by the uncles along the streets of Orchard Road, then you’ll want to try Kazo’s Danish Polo ($2.50 – $5.50).

They are famous for their Osaka-style fried cutlet skewers and signature dipping sauces. Their skewers are coated in panko breadcrumbs before being deep-fried to perfection in a blend of oils that includes beef fats.

Their signature is the Oyster, Shrimp, and Asparagus Kushikatsu ($2.50 each). If you’re with your friends, consider getting the Chiritori Hotpan Beef ($18/small or $34/large), which is a sizzling pan of beansprouts and beef slices and wagyu beef intestines in a spicy broth.

10. IZA

IZA is a new izakaya concept by the guys who started The Skewer Bar.

IZA is unique in the sense that they serve affordable Japanese with a Singaporean twist. For example, Otah Tamago ($6.90) which combines our favourite spicy mackerel with traditional Japanese tamagoyaki.

A signature dish is their Special Yaki Onigiri ($5 for two). The onigiri rice is evenly mixed with spicy hae bee hiam (dried shrimp) before being grilled, imparting a smoky flavour. This is one shiok onigiri.
