6 Places You Can Go When You’re Done With Dinner But You Still Want To Lepak

We’ve all been there. You and your friends just had a 2-hour long dinner to catch up but it’s still not enough. You leave the restaurant and now the whole group aimlessly drifts around the mall.

What you’re looking for, is a place to settle down so that you and your friends can carry on your conversation comfortably. Because window shopping gets boring after a while.

[caption id="attachment_31912" align="aligncenter" width="250"] Image Credit: giphy[/caption]

So we’ve found 6 places for you and your friends to visit after dinner, if you’re craving for desserts or are just looking to drink.

Desserts And Drinks

1. 2am : dessertbar

If you’re craving for some artsy desserts, then 2am : dessertbar is the place for you. For the majority of us who can never seem to grasp the concept of modern art, we can focus on the taste of the desserts instead.

The thing about this dessert bar is that they actually recommend alcohol pairings with the dessert that you select. Desserts to try are the Cassis Plum ($24), Cacao Forest ($24), and the Tsujihei Green Tea Tart ($20).

The dishes are all carefully plated and look like an abstract art piece that’s almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

Prices here are steep but great service, ambience and food makes the trip to Holland Village worth it.

Forget Hyatt – Its Cooler, Younger Sister Has Arrived And It Has Ditched All The Hotel Cliches

A new hotel has popped up in the heart of our cultural crossroads. Specifically at the point where Kampong Glam, Little India, and the Bras Basah Bugis arts and entertainment hub cross paths.

Managed by the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Andaz Singapore is the first Andaz hotel to open in Southeast Asia, joining its 17 other global counterparts.

Andaz Singapore has chosen to be situated closer to some of our cultural heritage sites such as Little India and Kampong Glam, making it one of the few luxury hotels that isn’t located along Orchard Road or Marina Bay.

[caption id="attachment_31758" align="aligncenter" width="1600"] Image Credit: Andaz Singapore[/caption]

The hotel draws inspiration from its surroundings, such as the vibrant shophouses and intimate alleys in Kampong Glam, and weaves this ambience into its interior design and atmosphere.

Andaz How You Make A Good Hotel Work

Andaz Singapore is located in DUO, an iconic pair of concave skyscrapers that’s right in front of Singapore’s very own Gotham building, Parkview Square. You can’t miss it.

[caption id="attachment_31759" align="aligncenter" width="1599"] Image Credit: Andaz Singapore[/caption]

If the concave design doesn’t catch your eye, the hexagonal windows surely will. Doesn’t it look like a honeycomb?

[caption id="attachment_31790" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Image Credit: Andaz Singapore[/caption]

DUO is the largest integrated development in the Ophir-Rochor district. It comprises retail spaces, residences, offices, and the new Andaz Singapore hotel. It is directly connected to Bugis MRT station via underground pathways so navigation around Singapore is made easy.

Andaz Singapore has 342 contemporary guestrooms, including 26 suites, each fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows that perfectly frame stunning views of the city.

[caption id="attachment_31760" align="aligncenter" width="1600"] Image Credit: Andaz Singapore[/caption] [caption id="attachment_31761" align="aligncenter" width="1600"] Image Credit: Andaz Singapore[/caption]

As with every Andaz hotel, guests get to enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and mini-bar, refreshments in the Sunroom, and access to the Andaz Lounge Hour from 4pm to 6pm daily where guests can help themselves to the complimentary red and white wines and Andaz Pale Ale.

For the fitness buffs, there is a 24-hour gym so you can work out at any time of the day.

Which hotel is complete without a pool? Andaz Singapore has an outdoor pool on the 25th floor offering amazing views of the city!

For meetings, corporate events, weddings and parties, there are four meeting venues collectively referred to as Alley on 3, spanning 14,800 square feet in total.

There is a stunning ‘glass box’ event space known as The Glasshouse which looks amazing.

Andaz And Dining

Guests of Andaz have a wide variety of food and beverage options to choose from. Alley on 25, 665°F, Mr. Stork and Pandan are ready to cater to every guest’s dining preference.

Alley on 25 is an all-day dining venue on level 25, offering different dining concepts, each centred around a food preparation method, a bar, and stunning sky-high views of the city.

[caption id="attachment_31766" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Image Credit: Andaz Singapore[/caption]

665°F is a steakhouse named after the temperature of their signature wood-fired oven. It is situated on the 38th floor of Andaz and specialises in gourmet meats and seafood.

Located on the 39th floor, Mr. Stork is a rooftop bar with an interesting teepee-hut seating as well as a bar pavilion offering 360-degree views of the city.

14. Tsuta Duck Ramen

[caption id="attachment_31202" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Kamo Abura Soba[/caption]

Ramen fans, there’s a new ramen coming to you, and this one comes courtesy of none other than Michelin-starred ramen restaurant Tsuta.

For their first year anniversary in Singapore, Tsuta has come up with not one but two ramen dishes, and the star ingredient is a meat we Singaporeans eat plenty of: duck.

After experimenting with different recipes and cooking methods for a year, Chef Yuki Onishi created 2 ramen dishes: the dry Kamo Abura Soba ($10), and Kamo Paitan Soba ($11) which is served in soup.

These ramen dishes will only be available from 4 November onwards and are exclusively available in Singapore. The next time you’re craving a hearty bowl of ramen, be sure to head down to your nearest Tsuta to eat it!

Not Your Typical Cruise Themes

[caption id="attachment_31485" align="alignnone" width="3777"] Source: Wikimedia[/caption]

The allure of a cruise is a popular choice for many travelers when planning a vacation. But not all cruises are alike. Some cruise lines revolve around an entire theme, some host theme nights and others cater to all types of people. Let’s explore.

Have you ever thought of going on a cruise that holds an international poker championship onboard? Well, it’s available onboard the luxury cruise liner Aegean Paradise. If ultimate leisure and gaming are your things, improve your performance and register for this year’s event, which is scheduled for December 15-17.

However, Aegean Paradise is just one of many examples of unique cruise experiences available. Theme cruises are another great way to combine your interests with a relaxing vacation, and can be a great option for first-time cruisers. Specifically, there are typically three types of theme cruises: The full-ship theme cruise, partial-ship theme cruise and theme-inspired cruise.

Full-Ship Theme Cruise – When selecting this option, be sure to select your theme wisely because it will set the tone for your entire vacation. On these cruises, everyone onboard can be a part of the themed activities and entertainment, which can include concerts, themed activities, competitions and the possibility to mingle with performers and guest celebrities. A popular choice is the “Top Chef at Sea” Cruise on the Regent Seven Seas. This cruise tends to appeal to a wider audience than some of the other ones out there.

Partial-Ship Theme Cruise – This is a great option that doesn’t overwhelm the entire ship. On these cruises, they have special interest groups that can purchase blocks of cabins, marketing to people who may be interested in an activity. These interests can range from knitting to scrapbooking to fitness to music.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="5184"] Source: Pexels[/caption]

Theme-Inspired Cruise – A lot of cruise lines advertise theme sailings, but in reality, these tend to be a regular offering with some extra special interest activities, guest speakers or entertainment options. On these sailings, you may be able to enjoy a regionally-inspired wine tasting, guest musical performances, fitness and wellness specialists, educational lecturers and so much more. In 2017, the Seabourn Cruise Line added a “Spa and Wellness with Dr. Andrew Weil”, which is meant to educate its passengers through classes and gatherings.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Source: Wikimedia[/caption]

Take a look at some of these popular cruise themes to think about as an option for your next cruise, or your first one for that matter:

  • Music Cruises such as the New Kids on the Block theme, Beatles tribute theme, Country Cruising theme and so much more.
  • Food and Drink Cruises such as Flavors of Europe, California Beer Festival at Sea and so much more. Many of these feature craft bears, brewing demos and food pairings to die for.
  • Celebrity Cruises such as the TMC Classic cruise, National Review cruise and the Baseball Greats Cruise.
  • Health and Wellness Cruises such as Yoga, Great Alaskan Marathon, Sober and Cruise for Diabetes.
  • Hobby Cruises such as Craft, Ballroom Dancing, Alaskan Photography Adventures and so much more.

As you can see, the options are endless. No matter the theme or cruise line you desire, similar options are likely available. So, do your research and find a cruise line and theme that is right for you.

B Burger Serves Cheeseburgers With A Japanese Twist And It’s Pure Umami Magic

Fusion food has always been a hit-or-miss in the world of gastronomy.

However, this newest fast food joint has managed to perfect their recipes for Japanese-American fusion burgers.

Meet B Burger, a quaint new burger joint located at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, serving up classic American burgers with a Japanese twist.

[caption id="attachment_31399" align="aligncenter" width="1600"] Image Credit: B Burger[/caption]

Picture yourself biting into a juicy, toasty burger in a backdrop of palm trees, artsy murals and neon lights juxtaposed against a wall of 80s paraphernalia. That is the B Burger experience.

Feel Good Vibes Meets Feel Good Food

If you thought you’ve had the best burger you can possibly have in your lifetime, hold that thought.

B Burger serves up classic American burgers with a Japanese twist. Picture daikon pickles replacing gherkins, or an okonomiyaki re-imagined with a bratswurst and served as a corn dog.

That’s the Osaka Corn Dog ($6.90).

[caption id="attachment_31425" align="aligncenter" width="1600"] Osaka Corn Dog ($6.90)[/caption]

The signature B Burger ($6.90 to $11.90) is a cheeseburger that features a single portion of juicy beef patty, daikon pickles, tomato, lettuce, cheese and their secret B Sauce. Double and triple patty options are also available for their burgers.

[caption id="attachment_31420" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] B Burger ($6.90 for single patty, $8.90 for double, $11.90 for triple)[/caption]

The other burger to look out for is the Bomchika Wow Wow ($9.90). Buttermilk fried chicken burger, sriracha honey (YASSS), truffle mayo, homemade wafu slaw, topped with a fried egg. If this doesn’t get you salivating, we don’t know what will.

[caption id="attachment_31421" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Bomchika Wow Wow ($9.90)[/caption]

For those seeking a vegetarian option, there’s a burger for you. Meet the Umami Burger ($7.90). A combination of buttermilk fried Portobello, melted cheddar, garnished with a sprinkling of nori flakes.

[caption id="attachment_31422" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Umami Burger ($7.90)[/caption]

Going meat-free has never tasted so good.

B Burger didn’t forget about their sides either. Some of the interesting sides are the Nacho Soup ($3.50) and the Wafu Ramen Slaw ($3.50).

The Nacho Soup is exactly what you think it is. All of the cheese and nacho shards. Like Beer Cheese Soup, without the beer. So, really just cheese soup.

[caption id="attachment_31423" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Nacho Soup ($3.50)[/caption]

The Wafu Ramen Slaw is B Burger’s homemade coleslaw with Japanese dressing and dried ramen noodles for crunch.

[caption id="attachment_31424" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Wafu Ramen Slaw ($3.50)[/caption]

Remember to eat your veggies, kids!

You can pay an additional $3.50 for a side and a drink to go with your burger for a more filling meal!

Food aside, the tropical motifs plastered on the walls of the joint really brightens up our mood. Vibrant, colourful, and cheerful.

If the food doesn’t make you smile, the decor will.

Eating here isn’t just a meal. It’s a visual and gastronomic experience.

Head down to B Burger if you’re craving for a good burger!

This X’mas Market Is Full Of Artsy Knick Knacks And Activities That’ll Put Christmas Cheer In Your Hearts

If you love Christmas markets as much as we do, then we’ve got some news for you.

[caption id="attachment_31371" align="alignnone" width="1080"] Image Credit: The Local People[/caption]

Watch South Beach Avenue transform into an art, design, food and music destination as local communities and visitors come together and celebrate this festive season in one of the largest Christmas Art Markets in Singapore.

Santa’s Workshop @ The South Pole

Spanning over 32,000 square feet across the basement, street level and conserved buildings, South Beach Avenue is the entertainment centre of the Civic District.

Starting from the basement plaza, you can be part of the longest communal dining experience, savouring mouth-watering treats.

Up on the street level, browse and shop at the various tents selling locally-made and designed products such as homemade organic baked goods, handmade accessories, and specially curated ranges of tea from various vendors.

Also keep a look out for pop-up stores by South Beach’s tenants. You can find whisky gifts from Quaich Bar, organic products from Real Food, and Christmas hampers from JW Marriott Singapore South Beach and Caffe Vergnano 1882, just to name a few!

What party is complete without music? Visitors can expect performances from local talents such as music duo Rene & Stef, singer songwriter Marian Carmel, Jean Goh, Desiree Orien Tay, and music band Nisha and Syaf!

There will also be Christmas carollers on 17 December to get everyone into the festive mood!

There will also be a screening of Michelle Chong’s award-winning ‘Lulu The Movie’ at 7pm daily, in the film’s first public screening since its theatrical release.
