Overly attached to your pet pooch and wish there was more you could do together in Singapore?

On 24 September, there’s an event happening that both you and your furry friend can enjoy – Camp Canine.

Happening from 12pm – 6pm, Camp Canine is the brainchild of the people behind pet thug-wear label FOURS and the events team behind Camp Kilo.

Born out of a love for pets, the dog-fest will take place at Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, a restaurant near the serene Kallang riverside that’s well-known for its tasty, hearty roast and chill, laidback atmosphere.

With an interactive dog fashion show, a friendly dog race, a pet market and more, you and your furry pal are sure to have a ball at Camp Canine. And the best part? Admission is free!

For The Dogs

Stylish Owner, Stylish Pet

First off, there will be a Dog Fashion Showcase where human and dog models decked in matching FOURS outfits will walk around, interacting and mingling with guests. An interactive fashion runway, watch these outfits in action – not just on the runway.

In the same vein of fashion, there will also be a Best Dressed Contest, where both Man and dog (mostly dog) will compete! The 3 categories are: ‘Twinning’ (best human-pooch pair), ‘Fresh AF’ (pooch with best street style), and ‘Squad Goals’ (best pooch group).

[caption id="attachment_29865" align="alignnone" width="2048"] Image Credit: FOURS Facebook[/caption]

The judges will be moving around, seeking out humans and dogs who are dressed according to the various categories.

So, deck yourself and your furry children in your Sunday’s best. Who knows? You and your dogs may just walk away proud winners of one of these titles!

Pooch Race

If fashion ain’t you and your dog’s thing, maybe racing is.

Another highlight at Camp Canine is a friendly Dog Race you can sign your furry little guy up for. All in good fun, dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes are welcome – as long as they can play well with others.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a pet, Camp Kilo Charcoal Club has also partnered with Exclusively Mongrels to set up an Adoption Drive. Get to know the adorable dogs and if you have the means to care for them, give these animals a home!

For The Humans

While being surrounded by dogs in all kinds of crazy costumes and watching them scurry around will already fill your heart with joy, there’s more in store for us humans.

[caption id="attachment_29871" align="alignnone" width="2048"] Image Credit: Camp Kilo Charcoal Club[/caption]

Enjoy the wide BBQ selection Camp Kilo Charcoal Club has to offer, from a whole roasted pig to pork ribs. There will also be seafood like a whole Snapper, Stingray and more! Chow down on a hearty meal of meat with your friends and/or family, and let the good times roll!

Finally, pamper your pooch with goodies from the Pet Market. With a host of vendors from various pet brands, there’s no better way to end the day than with a small gift for man’s best friend.

After You’s Thai Thai Must Try Shibuya Toasts Are Coming To S’pore For One Weekend

As part of The Finest Thai Festival organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, After You will be bringing their sweet desserts to Singapore so that you don’t have to step one foot off the island to feast on their legnedary Shibuya Toasts.

This weekend, from 8 to 10 September, stop by the Thai Embassy in Orchard to explore the best of Thailand.

There’s always room for dessert

This is the first time ever that After You will be coming to Singapore, even if its just for one weekend. This is your chance to eat all the Shibuya toasts!

[caption id="attachment_29827" align="alignnone" width="1030"] We just can’t get enough of durian? (Image Credit: After You)[/caption]

Their most popular item is the Shibuya Honey Toast, that comes in all sorts of flavors like sticky toffee, cheese, strawberry cream and nutella. There’s even a durian sticky rice shibuya toast!

Eat, shop, try the lucky draw. Repeat!

Besides After You, there are plenty of other Thai food stalls, local brands and fashion designers that will be at the festival.

Aromatherapy label HARNN is one to look out for if you love natural, soothing skin care. They carry everything from essential oils to body scrubs, so that you can recreate the spa experience in the privacy of your own home. April’s Bakery will also be bringing their trademark pork pies that currently aren’t available at the Singapore outlets – be sure to grab one while they’re hot!

Another reason to stop by the festival is the Thai traditional lucky draw at the Soi-Dao Tree by the Sansiri Family, where you stand a chance daily to win a round-trip to Bangkok from Singapore.

If you are planning on stopping by The Finest Thai Festival, remember to bring loads of cash as NETS or credit cards are not accepted.

It’s going to be an exciting weekend, so be sure to go early so that you won’t miss out anything.

We are less than two weeks away from the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix, and the entire city is already gearing up for the weekend with an influx of off-track activities. Hello, exclusive F1 party that I cannot afford.

Maybe you didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a grandstand to watch your money flash by in barely a second, or maybe you just aren’t that into racing.

2. Watch Lau Pa Sat transform into a fashion runway

Lau Pa Sat, our favourite CBD makan spot, will turn the heat up during the F1 weekend (and not because of excessive orders for satay and chicken wings).

Heineken will be presenting their own fashion collection on a catwalk for the first time in Asia! Expect to see models like Sheila Sim, Angie Watkins and Jason Godrey. Former F1 racer David Coulthard will also be making an appearance at the show which features the latest pieces from the collections of local designers Sabrina Goh and Amos Ananda.

Even if you don’t have front row tickets, you’ll be able to catch a bit of the action from the sidewalk. There will be a live mannequin performance and roving iPad magic show nearby, which you might bump into if you’re lucky.

Four bus services – 222, 222G, 181 and 243G – will also be extended. You can finally say yes to one more round!

There you have it. Just because you are too poor to afford concert tickets to go watch OneRepublic or Calvin Harris, there are still plenty of ways for you to enjoy the F1 weekend. You don’t have to empty your wallet to have a good time!

Lady M Created A Light-Up Lantern For Its Mooncakes, Because Boxes Are So Mainstream

As August draws to a close, it means two things – Halloween is coming, but before that, Mid-Autumn Festival.

That means breaking out the paper lanterns, sparklers, and of course, mooncakes.

This year, so many brands are putting out their own spin on the traditional delicacy. Some are sticking to tradition with classic mooncakes with lotus paste, white lotus paste or red bean paste; others are breaking tradition with alcoholic mooncakes, cheesecake mooncakes, ice cream mooncakes, and more.

[caption id="attachment_29409" align="aligncenter" width="1034"] Image Credit: Lady M[/caption]

With brands from the usual hotels to Mr Bean hawking their own versions of the confection, it takes something truly special to pierce through the competition – and we think Lady M‘s version takes the (moon)cake!

Snowskin Mooncakes In A Grand Lantern

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Lady M will be selling sets of 4 snowskin mooncakes, which will be available in 2 flavours: Cranberry Cheese White Chocolate Truffle and Peanut Butter Chocolate Truffle.

[caption id="attachment_29410" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Snowskin Mooncake – Cranberry Cheese (Image Credit: Lady M)[/caption]

While these flavours sound completely non-traditional, don’t worry, the people at Lady M haven’t completely thrown tradition out the window.

The mooncakes, which come in pink and white respectively, are filled with white lotus paste, with a luxurious chocolate truffle core that’s filled with either cranberry cream cheese or smooth creamy peanut butter.

[caption id="attachment_29411" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Snowskin Mooncake – Peanut Butter (Image Credit: Lady M)[/caption]

Each mooncake bears Lady M’s trademark “M”, embossed in place of the usual Mandarin characters or flowers.

While the mooncakes are special in and of themselves, their packaging is what’s won our hearts – these mooncakes are housed in a gorgeous lantern!

Limited Edition Lanterns

At first glance, you’ll see a pretty pink lantern, but only upon closer inspection will you see the intricacies of its design.

Battery-lit from the inside, you’ll notice the sides of the lantern are actually three dimensional windows. You’ll even spot tiny silhouettes of people having tea! The whole lantern resembles an ornate building, with pretty windows, columns, and Lady M’s “M” weaved seamlessly into its design.

[caption id="attachment_29412" align="aligncenter" width="861"] Image Credit: Lady M[/caption]

Coming with a dainty, metallic chain attached for carrying around, lift the top piece and you’ll find the four mooncakes stacked one on top of the other!

Super pretty, this is far from your typical mooncake box or tin.

“M” For Mooncake

The Grand Lantern Mooncakes will only be available till 1 October 2017, and will be available in limited quantities, so make an order quickly!

Priced at $109.50 per box (set of 4 mooncakes), make an order by 3 September and you can also enjoy an early-bird price of $99.50.

Thinking of sending mooncakes to friends or family, but have no idea which mooncakes to buy? With such pretty packaging, this is definitely a winner. Heck, you might want to just get these for yourself – the lantern is definitely a unique piece you’ll want to keep around the house.

This Smart Hotel Makes Staycations Cooler With Automated Check-In And ‘Transformer’ Beds

We’ve heard of Smartphones, smart watches… but have you heard of a smart hotel?

Yotel is another hotel to join the smart hotel scene in Singapore. With 6 locations across Europe and USA, this London-based hotel chain will be opening in Singapore very soon – first, at Orchard Road this year, and then at Jewel Changi Airport in 2018.

Recognisable by its signature futuristic purple lighting, Yotel is a micro-hotel inspired by first class travel. That is, the rooms – or ‘cabins’, as they call it at Yotel – contain elements reminiscent of a first class suite on an airline. If you’ve never flown first class, staying in one of these cabins will give you a glimpse of the experience, minus the hefty price tag.

What’s Smart About This Hotel

1. Smart Check-in

How do you make a hotel smart?

For starters, you automate certain processes.

[caption id="attachment_29207" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Smart Check-in at Yotel New York (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]

Checking in at this hotel is fuss-free – and people-free. All you have to do is check in at one of their check-in kiosks. You can even use their mobile concierge app ‘SHAGGY’ for easy self check-in!

That said, don’t worry about getting no service during your stay at Yotel. With 24/7 mission control (i.e reception desk), there will always be a team on standby to assist you with whatever you need.

2. Smart Beds

Smart beds are another big part of Yotel’s charm.

[caption id="attachment_29208" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Image Credit: Yotel[/caption]

A bed that transforms, these adjustable beds provide comfortable and variable postures, whether you’re in the mood to read, work, or just watch TV.

With a Serta mattress designed exclusively to work with Yotel’s automated ‘gliding’ bed mechanism, the SmartBed can go from a flat bed to a sofa with the mere touch of a button!

Andsoforth’s Unique Dining Experience Serves Up Dinner With A Side Of Theatre

Bored of cafes and hawker food?

Here’s one for those who love the mystery of surprise!

Andsoforth, who previously brought us The Experiment, The Hideaway and The Heist, are up to more eccentric fun! The Imaginarium of David is their latest creation where they take dining literally out-of-this-world into realms that we could previously only dream about.

The Imaginarium of David takes inspiration in from the Biblical story of David and Goliath. If you’re not familiar with the story; a young David duels and bests a giant, Goliath, despite being at a huge disadvantage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzsXGdzi0PM

Andsoforth reinterprets David and Goliath in a modern setting – or more specifically, a disco setting. Disco David brings you into his psychedelic world to meet his eccentric friends: a Shaolin Lifeguard, the Swan Ballerinas, The Cunning Cabaret, and B-boy Goliath. Make friends with the mystical characters in a secret disco!

Be sure to go with an empty stomach as the night will culminate in a four-course meal served in the most conspicuous way possible. Psst, we also heard that there will be a sneaky cocktail as well!

Get ready to be immersed in a virtual world like no other. The venue will not be disclosed until the day of the performance itself, so keep a tight leash on your phone so as to not miss out on the details.

Here’s what went down at their last themed show, Dinner in Wonderland:

Once it’s over, you will never get a chance to experience it again! Tickets cost $98 for Friday shows, and $108 for Saturday shows. Head to the Andsoforth website for more details!
