8 Corny Pick Up Lines To Use On That Cutie You Spot On Your Next Fun Run

In the past couple of years, we’ve seen many a run grace our little island.

We’ve seen just about everything, from character-themed runs (Pokemon run, Hello Kitty Run, Star Wars Run), to festival-inspired runs (The Music Run, The Color Run), to some… pretty strange runs. Teh Tarik Run, I’m looking at you.

Clearly, Singaporeans love their runs, and with so many different themes to choose from, a boring 5K or 10K can become a lot more exciting – especially with a fun run pack and a nice T-shirt thrown in.

While runs like these offer calorie-burning benefits and all the novelty that comes with the themes, one other benefit of going for these runs is to meet new people – specifically, people of the opposite sex. As they say, love can blossom in strange places, so who are we to stand in its way?

The next time you go for a fun run, save these 8 pick-up lines to use on that cutie you spot running nearby.

1. This is definitely a run, ‘cus you’ve been running through my mind the entire time.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Source[/caption]

3. I’ll let you run ahead of me because I’m chasing the girl (or guy) of my dreams.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="245"] Source[/caption]

4. It doesn’t matter if you don’t win the race, you still take the #1 spot in my heart.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="356"] Source[/caption]

5. This 5K is nothing compared to how far we’ll be walking towards our future.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Source[/caption]

6. They say The Color Run is the happiest 5K on the planet. I guess it’s true, because I get to meet you.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="252"] Source[/caption]

7. Are you a sprinter? ‘Cus I relay want to date you.

8. Do you run marathons? ‘Cus I would go the distance for you.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="498"] Source[/caption]

Thought some of these were hella cheesy? Well, sometimes, cheesy is enough to get the ball rolling.

The Color Run 2017

Looking for the next fun run you can head to? The Color Run is coming up on 23 September and it promises lots of fun, lots of excitement and LOTS of color.

[caption id="attachment_28760" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Image Credit: The Color Run[/caption]

Unlike previous editions of The Color Run, this year, the happiest 5k on the planet goes nocturnal, and will be taking place at night. Expect to be doused from head to toe in bright, neon colors at each kilometer and see the colors set aglow with your black light headlamp!

You won’t be the only ones glowing in this ultraviolet affair – the color zones and night attractions spread though the neon course will also be glowing bright in the night.

Come dressed in your boldest, brightest neon styles, and find yourself plastered in pretty, glowing color by the end of the night!

Once you’ve finished your run, party the rest of the night away to pumping music and yet more color throws!

We Want S’more Marshmello After That Imposter – He’s Set To Spin For Real At Zoukout 2017

Zoukout 2017‘s first headliners are out! Aussie DJ Flume and Marshmello will be headlining this year’s beach party, which will be happening on 8 and 9 December.

[caption id="attachment_29283" align="alignnone" width="300"] Flume[/caption]

Zoukout is like every Singaporean clubber’s rite of passage, and for a long time, had been many Singaporeans’ only option for a rave. Of course Ultra Singapore looks set to be a permanent fixture on the festival circuit, but you won’t be able to get  a beach rave experience at Ultra Singapore!

[caption id="attachment_29284" align="alignnone" width="300"] The all-seeing eye at Zoukout 2016[/caption]

Marshmello was just here last year, causing a huge commotion when he allegedly turned up at Zouk on 10 September 2016 after his set at Ultra Singapore 2016 despite being scheduled to spin at Ce La Vi afterparty. Turns out, it was a guest wearing Marshmello’s trademark helmet!

This time, the real Marshmello will be at Zoukout, alongside Flume, who has just won a Grammy for his album, Skin, this year. It’s going to be a blast with these DJs bringing their explosive live sets to Zoukout for the first time ever.

Here is last year’s recap video, just to give you a glimpse of what to expect!

Find Your Inner Peace With Yoga, And A Little Help From Beer

How well can you yoga?

As if yoga wasn’t hard enough as it is already, take your yogi level to the next level with beer yoga!

Fresh from London, beer yoga incorporates a beer bottle into the traditional yoga poses. For example, an exercise could involve you balancing your bottle on your head whilst maintaining a pose chosen by the instructor.

Just in case you were wondering, the beer bottle isn’t just for show. You are expected to down your bottle, or two, over the workout session!

[caption id="attachment_29195" align="alignnone" width="300"] You can let your friend fall, but you cannot let your beer spill! (Image Credit: BBC News)[/caption]

Finding your inner beer chakra

It’s a bit of a dispute when it comes to the origins of beer yoga, which is currently extensively practiced in Europe, America, Australia and Thailand. Some say that Berlin hipsters first conceptualized it, others say that beer yoga first debuted in Burning Man.

But whoever came up with the idea might just be a genius. Beer and yoga are both century-old therapies that help to relax the mind. Who knew a combination of the two might be able to help you achieve an even higher state of consciousness!

Also, a beer bottle is heavier then it seems when you have to balance it over your head whilst doing the Warrior or the Scorpion pose. Just try not to Savasana too fast.

[caption id="attachment_29209" align="alignnone" width="300"] Sunday pose: Savasana aka the corpse pose (Image Credit: tortoiseandharesports)[/caption]

Beer and yoga with a view to boot

For one night only on 25 August, Funzing Singapore has organized a beer yoga session for all those beer-loving yogis. Not only do you get your booze fix and exercise quota for the day, you also get to enjoy breathtaking views as the class will be held at a rooftop poolside.

The ticket price already includes a complimentary beer, but feel free to bring more.

Head to the event page on Facebook for to book your tickets! The beer yoga class will start from 7pm on 25 August at a secret location that is only revealed once your tickets are booked.

Andsoforth’s Unique Dining Experience Serves Up Dinner With A Side Of Theatre

Bored of cafes and hawker food?

Here’s one for those who love the mystery of surprise!

Andsoforth, who previously brought us The Experiment, The Hideaway and The Heist, are up to more eccentric fun! The Imaginarium of David is their latest creation where they take dining literally out-of-this-world into realms that we could previously only dream about.

The Imaginarium of David takes inspiration in from the Biblical story of David and Goliath. If you’re not familiar with the story; a young David duels and bests a giant, Goliath, despite being at a huge disadvantage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzsXGdzi0PM

Andsoforth reinterprets David and Goliath in a modern setting – or more specifically, a disco setting. Disco David brings you into his psychedelic world to meet his eccentric friends: a Shaolin Lifeguard, the Swan Ballerinas, The Cunning Cabaret, and B-boy Goliath. Make friends with the mystical characters in a secret disco!

Be sure to go with an empty stomach as the night will culminate in a four-course meal served in the most conspicuous way possible. Psst, we also heard that there will be a sneaky cocktail as well!

Get ready to be immersed in a virtual world like no other. The venue will not be disclosed until the day of the performance itself, so keep a tight leash on your phone so as to not miss out on the details.

Here’s what went down at their last themed show, Dinner in Wonderland:

Once it’s over, you will never get a chance to experience it again! Tickets cost $98 for Friday shows, and $108 for Saturday shows. Head to the Andsoforth website for more details!

This Year’s Halloween Horror Nights Brings Your L4D Fantasies To Life And Lets You Shoot Zombies

With National Day done and dusted, we are inching our way closer and closer to Halloween.

This Halloween, Halloween Horror Nights is back, and you’ll be thrilled to hear what they have in store.

[caption id="attachment_28901" align="alignnone" width="1443"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

Happening from Sep 29 to Oct 29, the 7th edition of Singapore’s ultimate scarefest is fittingly themed after the 7 deadlier – not just deadly – sins.

With 5 haunted houses, 2 scare zones, a zombie laser tag game and more, you’re in for non-stop scares, so brace yourself – there will be even more screaming than before at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.

First, Meet The Sinisters

We’re all familiar with the 7 deadly sins, but have you heard of the 7 deadlier ones? Cruelty, deception, malice, manipulation, narcissism, perversion and obsession are their names – and they embody the vices of today.

This year, these 7 sins will manifest themselves in 7 new and unique icons known as ‘The Sinisters’. Risen from the Abyss, they will give form to your worst nightmares, casting fear into the hearts of Singaporeans at each new (literal) haunt.

5 Haunted Houses

Ever wondered if you’d survive a horror flick? Find out for yourself at the 5 haunted houses which each promise a cinematic experience with their stories.

1. DEATH Mall

[caption id="attachment_28882" align="alignnone" width="2000"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

The headliner house, DEATH Mall is filled with ghosts after the mall collapsed due to a structural failure in the building.

2. Hex

[caption id="attachment_28876" align="alignnone" width="2000"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

Wander through the jungle and you’ll find an eerie hut filled with dark magic and cursed antiquities. Keep a lookout for the Midnight Man, who has no intentions of ever letting you leave.

3. Inside The Mind

[caption id="attachment_28934" align="alignnone" width="2000"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

Originally planned for Halloween Horror Nights 6, Inside The Mind will bring you face to face with the demons and obsessions that linger inside the minds of evil.

4. TERRORcotta Empress

Escape an army of risen Terracotta soldiers at this haunted house, where the cruel, evil Empress rules mercilessly from the grave. If you find yourself face to face with the dragon lady, make sure to run in the other direction.

5. Make The Cut

Think you’ve got what it takes to be the queen of ‘Gore-pop’? The price of stardom is not cheap – make a deal, or get ruthlessly cut.

2 Scare Zones

When roaming between horror houses, be sure to watch your back!

This year’s edition of Halloween Horror Nights will see 2 scare zones, the Pilgrimage of Sin and Happy Horror Days. (Happy Holidays, get it?)

[caption id="attachment_28879" align="alignnone" width="1588"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

The first is the sanctuary of the 7 sins, a place infested with unholy beings and crawling with all kinds of evil.

[caption id="attachment_28877" align="alignnone" width="2000"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

The second will see a sinister twist on your favourite holidays.

Zombie Laser Tag

[caption id="attachment_28889" align="aligncenter" width="1000"] Image Credit: Resorts World Sentosa[/caption]

Don’t want to be scared without being given an opportunity to fight back? A first for Halloween Horror Nights, you’ll be able to defend yourself against rabid flesh-eating zombies in a brand new zombie laser tag.

Form a fearless team of four, and be sure to purchase tickets for specific time slots beforehand. The experience is tagged at $38 for regular park guests and $30 for Frequent Fear Passholders and RIP Tour Guests.

2 Shows

This year, there will be two killer shows.

The first is Laboratorium, which will transport you back in time into the period of the Black Death. Witness the horrifying acts done by plague doctors on human test subjects as they try to find cures to the Black Death. A show that includes international stunt acts, this will happen at the Pantages Hollywood Theater.

The second show is the Slice of Life Tour, where the Slit Face Girls will celebrate the launch of their new album with a special fan meet. Watch the Gore-pop girl group perform their hearts out on the Hollywood Lagoon Stage.

One of the darkest and most technologically advanced Halloween Horror Nights Singapore has seen yet, this year’s Halloween Horror Nights promises more thrills and scares than ever before.

Early bird tickets are already available from now till Sep 5. Each ticket will set you back $55, or you can purchase a bundle of three and get one free! Get your tickets online or at Universal Studios Singapore ticket booths.
