These S’porean Youths Are Realising Their Dreams, What About You?

Over the years, with more space and room for artistic expression, we’ve seen the rise of a bunch of extremely creative workers and youths. Zouk At Sea: Party On A Luxury Cruise Like There’s No Tomorrow
Guess where Zouk’s latest outlet is? If you’re guessing Marina Bay or Resorts World Sentosa… you’re in for a brand new experience because Zouk is sailing into new waters by opening a club on a luxury cruise ship – Zouk At Sea! And the best part of all, this ship will stop in Singapore on November 4 this year on its maiden voyage to Guangzhou.
Titled Zouk At Sea, this club will be housed in Genting Dream, the newest cruise ship by Genting Hong Kong, the casino and cruise-line conglomerate which bought over our home-grown most happening club from its founder Lincoln Cheng last year.
[caption id="attachment_8745" align="alignnone" width="980"] Image source: South China Morning Post[/caption]Singaporeans can join a two-night trip with this cruise from $561 per person when the ship stops at our shores this November 4. If two nights of partying is too short for you, there is also the seven-night cruise from Singapore to Hong Kong departing on November 6 which stops by three cities of Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Danang. Prices start from $1,759 per person, including a night’s stay at Hong Kong and a return flight on Cathay Pacific.
[caption id="attachment_8752" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Zouk Singapore souce: Asia Bars[/caption]Like the one at Jiak Kim Street, Zouk At Sea is made up of several concepts. It consists of an indoor dance club, a retro sports bar with billiards and a two-lane bowling alley, as well as the Zouk Beach – an outdoor day and night party deck with a splash pool that spells party all.day.long. More importantly, top international DJs will be brought on board for special events.
[caption id="attachment_8753" align="alignnone" width="700"] Image source: Alux[/caption]So what is this Genting Dream cruise all about? It’s an 18-deck, 3,352 passenger liner which cost a massive €707.2 million (about $1 billion) to build. Unlike the traditional family-oriented Star Cruise, this cruise line caters to the lifestyle-oriented and hip travellers who are looking for something fun yet different. It boasts over 1,100 square metres of luxury shops, champagne bar, whisky bar, Shanghai-style lounge for cabaret and burlesque acts, and more entertainment and gastronomical options.
[caption id="attachment_8742" align="alignnone" width="1200"] Image source: Dream Cruises[/caption]On top of that, the Genting Dream is the only vessel in Asia to offer underwater tours. The tour takes up to four guests and one pilot for a 45-minute trip to explore the sea in a submarine. That is literally setting the bar super high!
Now who is saying Aye-Aye captain to this brand new Zouk At Sea?
ZOUK AT SEA (Genting Dream’s Singapore Stopover)
Date: 4 November 2016 (2 Nights)
Price: $561++ per person
ZOUK AT SEA (Singapore -> Hong Kong)

Get Your Hello Kitty Plush Dressed In SIA’s Sarong Kebaya At $39!
It’s not just the Singapore Girl that will be wearing Singapore Airlines’ signature blue sarong kebaya – oh, so classy! Our favourite cat doll – you know, the one with no mouth and a cute bow on its head – will also be sporting the chic Pierre Balmain-designed traditional Asian batik dress, as part of a collaboration between the airline and Sanrio.
[caption id="attachment_9339" align="aligncenter" width="3200"] Credit: Singapore Airlines’ Facebook Page among other channels, the Hello Kitty: Singapore Girl was said to be available on the airlines’ KrisShop store for KrisFlyer members until 30 June for $39. (KrisFlyer membership is free)However, since Hello Kitty is basically every Singaporean’s favourite feline, probably even more so than Doraemon (also a cat) and other nekos, the airline announced that the doll has been sold out, and that it will restock and make the second release available in-flight from July 1 onward.
[caption id="attachment_9341" align="aligncenter" width="428"] Screenshot taken on 13 June 2016[/caption]
It is noted that customers who have purchased the doll during the first release, which lasted a day, will not be affected and can collect their orders on their flights from 20 June onward. Additionally, each flight will only carry up to five Hello Kitty: Singapore Girl dolls, and passengers will only be allowed to collect the doll in-flight.
[caption id="attachment_9340" align="aligncenter" width="883"] Screenshot taken on 13 June 2016[/caption]Alas, if you do not succeed in buying a Hello Kitty: Singapore Girl doll from Singapore Airlines, do not despair. From experience (read: McDonald’s regular Hello Kitty sales), we predict that there will be lots of these cute cats being sold on second-hand e-commerce platforms for a good price, for example Carousell.
When all else fails, you could also console yourself with a visit to the newly-opened Hello Kitty cafe at Changi Airport Terminal 3. Opened 24 hours, head there anytime for photo opportunities, good food, and great ambience.

Print Photos For Free & Enjoy Exclusive Promotions – SPARK Asia
With the inception of digital media, less people these days actually print out photographs they have taken. The ubiquity of data storage devices such as SD cards, memory sticks, or even online storage platforms, has led to lesser people printing their photos. Furthermore, not everyone has access to home photo printers that allow you to print in the comfort of your own room. To add, it is also a hassle to head down to a photo shop to get your photos printed. However, many still agree that printed photos are still ideal in this day and age, as they represent a tangible form of preserving one’s memories.
Enter SPARK, a Singapore-based service that allows you to print your photographs for free! In all honesty, when I first heard of SPARK from a friend, I was undoubtedly sceptical. It simply sounded too good to be true. Especially in a country like Singapore, where you have to pay for almost everything from iced water in cafes, to extra chilli sauce sachets in certain restaurants, I couldn’t help but wonder where the proverbial catch was. But since their website,
While I was not outright pleased, I had to say that this caught my attention, and I went back to SPARK’s website to find out more. Apparently, these adverts gave me access to exclusive promotions, discounts and giveaways from a carefully curated selection of brands, exclusive to the SPARK platform. My displeasure quickly gave way to elation. Apart from free photos, I was entitled to freebies as well? I took advantage of this, and just to check out if it was legitimate or not, took note of one particular photo which had an advert from SOI55 (which sells Thai tea and coffee).
A few days later, I headed down to SOI55 and well what do you know, it came through. I managed to get two drinks for the price of one, just by flashing and redeeming that particular deal on my SPARK app! What were the rest of the adverts behind my photos? Promotions from a whole gamut of cafes such as Reedz, Jekyll & Hyde, 23 Jumpin, La Barca and more!
Just for kicks, I dropped SPARK an email to learn more. I was heartened to receive a prompt reply within an hour. Ostensibly, the adverts printed on the back of my photos weren’t just randomly selected. SPARK prints adverts they think will be relevant to the user.
For a first time user, I have to say that SPARK seems to be an app to download if you haven’t already done so. While the user interface has room for improvement, I must say that being able to print free photos each month is enticing.
A mini photo insert which you receive in the envelope along with your photos prompts you to hashtag or mention them on Instagram/Facebook, and this entitles you to an additional 2 photo credits each month. While a month might seem like a long wait for some, I guess there isn’t much to complain when you don’t have to spend a single cent in exchange for 10 photos. As SPARK repeatedly emphasises on their site, “Because your memories are priceless”, there’s no time to waste if you want these precious memories printed out and kept by your side in the years to come.
