We bet you haven’t heard of these hidden beaches that are conveniently located in our neighbouring countries! Expect gorgeous views, soft sand, and crystal clear waters- minus the crowd. Note: You might get a serious case of wanderlust after reading this.
THAILAND:
1. Nai Harn Beach
Flanked on both sides by mountains with dense jungles, Nai Harn Beach is a peaceful beach at the southern end of Phuket. Snorkel, dive, or surf the afternoon away, and as the sun goes down, dine in one of the restaurants along the beach while enjoying the sunset.
P.S. For a bird’s eye view shot of this secluded beach, head to the Windmill Viewpoint.

This beach is a short boat ride away from Krabi’s town of Ao Nang. It is surprisingly tranquil considering its proximity to the popular and often crowded tourist destination of Krabi – and we hope it stays that way. Apart from chilling out with an ice cold beer, the rocky limestone formations around the beach make it a great spot for rock climbing too.

Head north to Koh Lao Liang, a small island that’s one of Thailand’s best kept secrets. The island is where the quiet and idyllic Lao Liang beach is hidden. Explore nature at this beach with rock climbing, snorkelling, and kayaking. Or just take a relaxing dip in the waters and spend an afternoon suntanning along the beach.

4. Pulau Lang Tengah
On Malaysia’s East Coast, between Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian, lies the lesser known beach of Pulau Lang Tengah. This often overlooked island offers a peaceful retreat with nature. Trek through the tropical jungle, swim among the coral reefs, sit along the jetty to watch the sunset, and laze on the beach with the occasional squirrel keeping you company.

Pulau Sibu
Pulau Sibu is located off the west coast of the nearby Johor, and is even closer to Singapore than Pulau Tioman, making it a great spot for a quick getaway. Clear turquoise waters to snorkel and dive in is a given, but Pulau Sibu also has a rocky shoreline and mangrove swamps for you to explore.

Pulau Tiga
With unspoilt nature and a beautiful stretch of beach, this is the first ‘secret’ location where the Survivor series was shot. Take a dive in the waters, have a bath in the island’s natural volcanic mud, and don’t be surprised to meet the resident snakes of the island while you’re there too.

Who knew a former fishing village would make such an awesome beach getaway? Stay in one of the water bungalows and wake up to the sound of the lapping waves. Plus, the sloping reefs and crystal clear waters are a diver’s dream. And if watching the sunset isn’t enough, Pulau Mabul is an excellent spot for stargazing as well.

8. Green Bowl Beach
Referred to as Green Bowl Beach due to the moss-covered reef that appears when the water recedes, this beach in Ungasan is hidden some 300 steps down from a tiny road. This secluded beach paradise is worth the journey though, with its fine sand and some of the best waves for surfing. Oh, and the caves are a great photo spot – just don’t wake the sleeping bats inside.

Atuh Beach
This beach is surrounded by rocky cliffs and mountains that provide the perfect vantage point to admire the spectacular scenery. Located on the island of Nusa Penida, southeast of Bali, Atuh Beach is just a bike ride away from Nusa Penida Harbor. Venture away from the blue waters of this beach and you’ll find natural caves that house swallows’ nests as well.

This is the perfect place to indulge in a relaxing getaway with world-class Mediterranean cuisine and fresh seafood. As night falls, lounge by the beach with a cocktail in hand.

1. Getting there: Ways to travel to Kuala Lumpur
1. Plane & train
[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/9dDZODsezF/?taken-by=renechong&hl=en[/embed]The most common (and my personal favourite) way to get to KL is by flight. The journey takes about an hour from Singapore and upon arrival (KLIA and KLIA 2), you can hop on the: Budget Taxi (buy a coupon from the counter), Metered Taxi (fare calculated by distance), and Premier Taxi (bigger vehicle, more expensive). You don’t have to worry about the 100ml liquid restriction and some buses offer on-board meals and on-bus entertainment. Not to mention, there’s more legroom compared to a plane!
[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDxMhxtEDYc/?tagged=aeroline&hl=en[/embed]One popular choice among travellers is Aeroline, a no-stop bus journey that feels like you’re flying to KL. They are equipped with ‘cabin crews’ to attend to your needs. Their Aeroports (bus stops) are located at strategic locations which make it very easy and convenient for travellers. If you find Aeroline a little pricey ($50 for a one way ticket), you can consider other bus operators such as or by 4. Drive

Because The Weather Has Been Such A Beach, We Need To Chill At These 5 Cool Beaches In SG!
So we’ve had the ! Rather than do what we always do best – complain, we can also take this opportunity to chill at a beach.
When it comes to beaches, we often think about the white sandy beaches of Maldives, surfing in Sri Lanka, island hopping in Phuket, sun-kissed at Bali…. The truth is these trips require a lot of planning. From air tickets to local logistics, accommodation to leave application (there goes the precious annual leave you’ve been saving for special occasions), they can be quite a headache.
While Singapore might be a small country comprising of edgy and contemporary architecture, there are pretty awesome beaches that cater to different preferences and occasions too! Here are 5 best beaches in Singapore to check out this weekend for a hassle-free beachcation!
St. John’s Island and Lazarus Island
[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDLfupZnFuV/?tagged=lazarusisland[/embed]St. John’s Island and Lazarus Island might just be Singapore’s best well-kept beach gems. To get to these islands, visitors will have to purchase ferry tickets on the spot at Marina South Pier as pre-bookings and reservation services are not allowed. If you want a ticket, be sure to be early!
These southern islands are separated at the jetty itself; turning left would lead you to the unobtrusive Lazarus Island and turning right would be to St. John’s Island. Do pack your own food and drinks as the islands are committed to preserving their natural state, thus there are no restaurants and proper eateries. In case you forget, it’s okay! There’s a provision store and small eatery at the Marina South Pier. Do make your purchases there before you get on the jetty!
Our verdict: These islands are less mainstream and definitely suitable for those who love places that are off the beaten track. Packing your own food may be a little troublesome but the view there is worth every effort.
1. St. John’s Island:

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDc4SpZIee0/?tagged=siloso[/embed]Sentosa is famous for its 3 beaches – Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong. Known to be one of the most popular must-visit beaches in Singapore, Siloso beach is an impressive man-made beach has got everything a sun-basking lover needs. From bistros, restaurants, a man-made whirl wave for surfing to even a whirlpool, this is definitely where fun-loving people hang out.
[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDcRirPsYXr/?tagged=silosobeach&hl=en[/embed] [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDPTce8GYs9/[/embed] [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDhvNhHClXl/?taken-at=258651716[/embed]If you think beaches are quiet after the sun has set, you may need to think again. Siloso comes alive with parties and music after dark. Now, can you already imagine yourself sipping on a cocktail watching the sunset and then partying all night long?
Our verdict: Siloso literally spells fun under the sun (and stars). Best to go with a group of fun-loving friends. While you’re at it, check out the Bikini Bar, Singapore’s first and only Bintang Bar for a wide range of ice-cold beers, cocktails and house poured spirits.
[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/_-ZEIUngUJ/?tagged=silosobeach&hl=en[/embed] [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDZx7AgLTRm/?tagged=silosobeach&hl=en[/embed]4. Palawan Beach
[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BDix6bnDBdy/?tagged=palawanbeach[/embed]Palawan Beach is a family-friendly beach that boasts fun shops and eateries that are a favourite with adults and children alike. Parents can watch their kids have fun at the designated wading pools, water fountains and children’s seaside club while enjoying an iced drink at the bistros and bars nearby.
Unlike its happening neighbour, Siloso, Palawan is more laid back and relaxing, making it a great picnic spot. They also have a suspension bridge linking beach-goers to the southernmost point of Continental Asia (Asia’s closest point to the Equator).
Our verdict: Palawan beach may not be as upbeat as Siloso but it is also vibrant and energetic, making it a great spot to throw a birthday party or picnic for both kids and adults. There is also a ‘If you like peace and serenity, Tanjong Beach is the place for you! It is a little more private and quiet than the other two beaches, and is a walking distance towards the hip Siloso Beach.
Perhaps when you’re bored of sun tanning or reading that book, you can head over to explore Siloso Beach and Palawan – all within walking distance! Bring your significant other together with you for a night time stroll too. With twinkling stars and the help of more twinkling lights of the ships at the shore, it’s lovers’ paradise.
Our verdict: Tanjong Beach is not only great for intimate and romantic dates, but also to catch up on your reading list or bring your girls and work the abs with someKLM)

6 Reasons Why South Africa Should Be #1 On Your Travel Bucket List
Located literally at the other end of the world, few will name South Africa as their top travel destination because, what the heck is there besides sand and maybe more sand? This may come as a surprise, but not only is it one of the world’s 1. Experience Its Amazing Wildlife [caption id="attachment_3183" align="alignnone" width="636"] Image Credit: @tapeitoff[/caption]
We’re going to start with the most obvious and yes, the wildlife is amazeballszing. Here, we rejoice over snapping Instagram-able photos of our neighborhood cats and sometimes, it gets a little sad. Just look at the above photo. It’s still a cat, but not quite the same.
In South Africa, you get to ditch National Geographic and experience the real deal. Get stared down by a four-meter tall elephant? Check. Chase a herd of wild zebras? Check. Get chased by territorial rhinos? Double check. Also, if you intend to release your inner Mowgli, we’d recommend you the Image Credit: @tapeitoff[/caption]
Besides the safari experience, surround yourself with countless waddling penguins at s baby seals that are so adorable you wish you could take one home (or stay there forever).
2. Take In Spectacular Sights
Move aside Bukit Timah Hill, Cape of Good Hope coming through.
[caption id="attachment_3197" align="alignnone" width="500"] Image Credit: Passportaddict.wordpress.com[/caption]At Cape of Good Hope, the breathtaking view of the Atlantic ocean will have you wishing we had a Cape of Good uh, English. We kid. On a more serious note, instead of running from occasionally violent monkeys and dousing yourself in insect repellent, have the chance to enjoy some fresh mountain air and the wonders of nature.
[caption id="attachment_3198" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Image Credit: Theaspixel.com[/caption]Nature aside, South Africa is home to many wonderful cities, one of them naturally being Cape Town, its capital. Admire 3. Embark on Countless Adventures
If you’re an adventure junkie, South Africa is the place for you.
Remember how this country is one of the world’s shark capitals? With shark cage diving, you get to jump in the ocean and be literally beside them. Note that we’re not talking about any sharks, but the Great Whites. We don’t know about you, but witnessing a Great White chomp away at a piece of bait the size of our heads a few inches away ranks pretty high up on our thrill list.
[caption id="attachment_3234" align="alignnone" width="960"] Trekking up the 300m high Dragon Dune, South Africa’s longest duneImage Credit: @tapeitoff[/caption]
The next activity has to be sand boarding (perfect for adrenalin junkies who prefer staying dry). Just imagine the rush from surfing down a dune twice the height of Bukit Timah Hill. No experience is required for this sport so for the slightly clumsy/accident prone ones; rejoice!
[caption id="attachment_3235" align="alignnone" width="800"] Image Credit: Aboveandbeyondtravelcc.com[/caption]Prefer airborne adventures? Take the plunge by embarking on the world’s highest bridge bungee jump at Bloukrans Bungy. We’re not sure if you’d get to enjoy the spectacular view during the jump, but we guarantee the high levels of adrenalin rush.
4. Taste Some of the World’s Finest Wines
Basically a wine heaven, South Africa is home to an extensive amount of vineyards. We do have breweries back home but vineyards? Nada.
[caption id="attachment_3237" align="alignnone" width="640"] Image Credit: Velvetescape.com[/caption]Not only do you get to taste some of the best wines, immerse yourself in the country’s winemaking traditions whilst staying in its wine valleys. If you find researching on the extensive number of wineries a hassle, sign up for alcoholic appreciator of wines.
5. Enjoy The Splendid Weather
[caption id="attachment_3238" align="alignnone" width="955"] Image: @tapeitoff[/caption]When I met you in the summer, to the heartbeat sound.
It’s hard to not fall in love with the country, especially as the leaves turn brown. Okay but seriously, although summers can get pretty warm, the weather is never as humid as it is back home. Imagine taking part in the above-mentioned activities and barely breaking into a sweat. One can only dream.
Much to the surprise of many (including us), there is winter in South Africa. There may not be snow, but the chilly weather can provide a good respite from the perpetually sunny Singapore.
6. Travelling Is Affordable
[caption id="attachment_3239" align="alignnone" width="692"] The cosiest apartment we called homeImage Credit: Airbnb.com[/caption]
For starters, the cost of living in the country is generally lower (though this may not hold true for touristy areas like Cape Town). For instance, we scored a room in a cosy Airbnb apartment located at the foot of Table Mountain for just $30 a night. Topped up $20 and we got a ride from the airport to the apartment in a BMW convertible, driven by the ex manager of singer Bryan Adams? Excuse us whilst we squeal in a corner.
[caption id="attachment_3241" align="alignnone" width="640"] Coffee with a viewImage Credit: @tapeitoff[/caption]
Cosy apartments aside, South Africa is also home to a thriving café scene. If you’re a caffeine addict, you’re in luck. If you’re not, you’re about to become one. Lip-smacking coffee accompanied by ocean views are usually priced at $2-$2.50 whilst delicious cakes twice the size of those back home are priced at $3. Hipsters, one at a time please.
Convinced? Full of ceaseless wonders, we cannot emphasize any further on the remarkability of South Africa because if we do, you’d start wondering if this is an advertorial for South Africa’s tourism board. It’s not.
