Like Staying Up Late? Check Out These 6 Night Activities!
Suffering from insomnia? Or perhaps your body clock is all over the place after a week of hardcore midnight studying? With most malls only operating until 10 PM, there are not that many night activities to do.
In addition to exploring Singapore after dark, here are six night activities you can participate in to tire yourself out!
1. Night Cycling
[caption id="attachment_12034" align="alignnone" width="700"] Image Credit: @lynnholilin / Instagram[/caption]Get in touch with your sporty side and learn more about Singapore while you’re at it! Night cycling is a superb way to explore the island without having to spend a ton of money. All you need is safety gear, a pair of headphones, a bicycle (you could also rent), and a bottle of water!
If you’re a first-timer, check out the East Coast Park to Changi Village cycling path for a night of yummy eats, amazing finds, and quiet roads. If the East is a little far for you, you can also try cycling around the Holland Village neighbourhood down to the city where you can watch local attractions twinkle in the moonlight.

2. Chit Chat
[caption id="attachment_12035" align="alignnone" width="700"] Image Credit: @ig_rb/ Instagram[/caption]What’s better than staying up? Staying out! Since there are not that many 24/7 coffee shops in Singapore, your best bet would be to hit up Starbucks for a coffee/ tea or two while you catch up on some studying, work or just people watch/ chit chat the hours away.
We suggest going to a 24/7 coffee shop where there is outdoor seating, so you can enjoy some fresh night breeze, and not have to endure hours of nose-drying air-conditioning. Plus, free Wifi… What a score!
Starbucks at Orchard Cineleisure (other outlets available)

3. Watch a Midnight Movie
[caption id="attachment_12037" align="alignnone" width="700"] Image Credit: @emyslacker / Instagram[/caption]We love midnight shows! With only a handful of people in the cinema, the experience becomes a lot more private and intimate. Best of all, movies selected to screen in the middle of the night are usually pretty scary. Imagine walking out of a horror movie at 2 AM and strolling down an empty street. A lot more intense than 9 PM, right?
4. Put the Sing in Singapore
[caption id="attachment_12038" align="alignnone" width="700"] Image Credit: @andrewpheefifofum / Instagram[/caption]What do you think of when you see strangely irrelevant music videos (usually of varying backdrops of Singapore and/or models running down a beach), microphones, a tambourine and snacks? Of course, Karaoke. Sing to your heart’s content with affordable midnight karaoke options. Many of these karaoke operators also serve food and drinks, so there is absolutely no need to worry about being hungry.

5. Go prawning
[caption id="attachment_12040" align="alignnone" width="700"] Image Credit: @yytoh / Instagram[/caption]Allergic to seafood? We are sorry! But for everyone else, prawning remains as a great option to kill some time. Enjoy the cold night air while you wait for these orange fellas to take your bait! Even better, this is an excellent opportunity to spend some time with your friends as you talk over fishing rods. At the end of the night, you could even munch on what you’ve caught and cooked. Talk about a perfect way of enjoying what you worked hard for.

These restaurants tend to open till late. In fact, some even operate until the morning, just so you can eat all the xiao long baos that you want. Our favourite dishes include the custard egg buns (also known as ‘liu sha bao’), rice noodle rolls (or ‘chee cheong fun’), and salted egg and butter ribs!

Boat Noodles – How Many Bowls Can You Slurp Up? Here Are The Very Best Bowls!
What defines a good bowl of Thai boat noodles? Also known as kuai teow ruea, boat noodles are generally tasty, rich in flavour, and small in portion. Some foodies have slurped from 6 bowls, to up to 16 bowls of boat noodles!
Traditionally, mini bowls were used because the noodles were originally prepared and served on boats (and not because the Thais have a small appetite).

It’s past midnight, and you’re hungry. There may not be much food options, but just go to Gu Thai Noodle Cafe and order their palm-sized bowl Boat Noodles.
Priced at $1.90 per bowl, diners get to choose from 4 spiciness levels. One word of advice – you might want to check with the staff about the spiciness of the soup cause we heard even the ‘less spicy’ level comes with a kick!

3. Thai Boat Noodles (Bedok)
[caption id="attachment_12023" align="alignnone" width="960"] Image source: Thai Boat Noodle[/caption]Priced at $1.00 per bowl, Thai Boat Noodles serves the cheapest Kuai Teow Ruea you can ever find in Singapore. The portion is quite small, like two gulps and you’re done kinda small.
But the good thing is you get to choose from dry or soup versions, or just top up an extra $0.50 for mini tom yum noodles. If you have some seriously competitive friends, you can end the ‘who has the biggest appetite’ feud here once and for all. Whoever loses will have to settle the bill!
Thai Boat Noodles
Address: 799 New Upper Changi Road, Bedok Point #02-32/34 Singapore 467351

4. Thai Boat Noodles (Golden Mile Complex)
[caption id="attachment_12191" align="alignnone" width="630"] Image source: Image source: Noodle Cafe[/caption]Noodle Cafe is a little bit of a hidden gem. To get to this place, you’ll need to take the stairs down towards a “Diva Disco”. It may seem a little dark and dodgy but the noodles might make you go “hey the journey isn’t thaaat bad”.
Noodle Cafe is a popular choice among boat noodle lovers and we can totally see why. Each $1.90 bowl may only a mouthful but it’s a mouthful of sweet, spicy, savoury, and smoky. It’s literally a flavour shot!
Noodle Cafe
Address: 5001 Beach Road Golden Mile Complex #B1-08 199588

[Review] Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang – The Place To Soothe All Aches
This spa, Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang, has been making waves around social media as of late. It has only been open recently. However, the hype surrounding it made us curious about its offerings. We decided to head down early one Wednesday morning to see what having an onsen in sunny Singapore would be like.
Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang – Hot water in the forest
The name Yunomori means hot water in the forest, and since Singapore is a garden city, I suppose it is quite fitting.
The interior is very evidently a nod to Japanese culture – clean, white and neat. But there’s a little sign on the warming list that says no yakuzas allowed inside the Onsen. That made me laugh out loud.
Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang – Shower facilities & onsen
The men’s and women’s sections are predictably segregated.
Yukatas are available at the counter as you enter each area. Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang recommends onsen users to experience it the Japanese way by going commando. However, women have the option of requesting for disposable underwear if they are uncomfortable going in commando. When we were there, many younger women covered themselves up but the older women seemed to be very comfortable in their own skin.
The dressing room area is equipped with a hairdryer, cotton wool and buds, and a Yunomori branded moisturiser for after the onsen experience.
The showers are very much like the ones you see in Japan. They come with a stool for you to sit on. Before and after the Onsen experience, you are expected to take a shower at these shower areas. It was quite an odd experience as I don’t sit while showering. But huge bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash were readily available at each shower stall.
Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang – Men’s sauna & onsen
For some reason, the men have a much larger open shower area (pictured below) right next to the sauna. Women do not have access to the sauna. It is believed that women’s skin is too delicate for the extreme heat.
The men have a total of 6 pools, one more than the women do. The men have an additional pool, known as the hot bath, in which the temperature goes up to 44 degrees Celsius.
Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang – The pools
Apart from that, the rest of the pools are the same. There is the soda bath, featuring Japanese imported technology, and the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. The 38.5-39.5 degree Celsius water in the soda bath is enriched with a high concentration of natural carbon dioxide. The CO2-rich water is said to increase blood oxygen levels, improve circulation, reduce high blood pressure and also detoxify the blood.
The Silk Bath is hot water (38.5-39.5 degrees Celsius) reacting with large amounts of micro-bubble containing hydrogen. These jets of tiny bubbles give the water a sensual and silky texture, which makes the skin really smooth. The soothing nature of the bath is said to relax the muscles and alleviate problems like rheumatism, arthritic aches and pains, as well as mental stress.
Other baths include the Bubble Bath, imbued with the nutrients of carefully balanced minerals. It feels just like a jacuzzi, except you will be stewing in water of about 38.5-39.5 degrees Celsius.
The Jet Bath consists of full-body jet streams of air that is said to help stimulate blood circulation. This bath is slightly hotter at 39.5-41 degrees Celsius. Personally, I find it best to start with the lower temperature pools then move up to the Jet Bath last before taking a dip into the last pool, the cold bath.
The Cold Bath is an invigorating jolt to the senses and almost has a numbing effect as the water is set at 17-19 degrees Celsius. The almost icy cold water will stimulate the body’s natural energy and nerve endings. It is also touted to boost anti-ageing effects by closing the pores and tightening the skin.
Yunomori Onsen @ Kallang – Steam bath
Both the men and women also get to enjoy the steam bath, with sea salt scrub readily available in a huge wooden bucket. The steam bath is set to 100% humidity, up to 49 degrees Celsius.
You would think, after all of the heat in Singapore, you’d be used to it. But there’s really nothing better than taking that final dip into the cold bath.
After that, guests are welcome to lounge at the lounge area, complete with pillows and blankets. Otherwise, a cafe is also available to serve meals to hungry clientele.

Knickers+Bockers – Create Your Very Own Pizzas And Eat Them Too!
For regular visitors to the Central Business District (CBD), you will be excited to hear that Sure, it may not the only pizza joint in town, but it is one of the few in Singapore that allows you to construct your own 10” pizza ($12.90) with unlimited topping options. Yeap, you heard that right. Toppings are infinite, limited only by your imagination. This, guys, is every pizza lover’s dream.
Non-veggie lovers, rejoice! With the option to choose your own toppings, no longer will you be judged for not wanting pineapples, capsicum, or whatever veggie there is. However, you may not want to overload your pizza with deli meat, else you’ll be struggling to finish an overly salty pizza.
Toppings aside, you get to pick your desired pizza base (NY Style, NY Herb Crusted, Cali Style and Cali Herb Crusted) as well as sauces (5 to choose from) and cheese (8 kinds of cheese in total).
For the DiscoverSG Pizza (yes, you can name your pizza!), we chose the NY Herb Crusted base. It’s a New York-style pizza with a thin base, thicker crust, and sprinkled with herbs and spices.
With 44 greens, meat and seafood toppings to choose from, the selection is almost endless. We helped ourselves and ticked 16 boxes from the toppings list.
Credit: Knickers+Bockers
The pizza crust was perfect. It’s thin in the middle and tapers out to a slightly thicker crust. The crust could be folded, making it easy for any glutton (ahem, us) to enjoy a pizza slice whole. Despite it being herb-based, the pizza, much to our delight, is void of any unpleasant herby taste that may put some off. It may, however, be the cheese and the white cream sauce that covered it all up. Well, for lovers of herbs and spices, you get the best of both worlds!
Despite the many toppings, we’re surprised to discover that the ingredients complemented each other. Ingredients were fresh whilst the veggies had retained their juiciness. We’d recommend getting the spicy Italian sausage as it goes well with most seasonings and sauces.
Credit: Knickers+Bockers
If you are not a fan of DIYs or simply can’t decide to save your life, worry not as Knickers + Bockers offers pre-customised pizzas you can choose from, such as the Curry Lovers (pictured above).
Aside from pizzas, they do offer breakfast buns ($3.50/bun or $4.50 with coffee, pictured above) and DIY pasta ($8.90).
The breakfast buns are made from the pizza dough but unlike the pizzas, are not customizable. There are four flavours to choose from – Original, Asian Fusion, Curry and Otak Otak. Unless you’re not a fan of local flavours, we’d recommend you to try anything but the Original, which features your classic American breakfast ingredients, like runny eggs and bacon, which is rather boring.
To be honest, we thought the pizzas are more worthy of a try but the buns are a great option for those looking for an on-the-go breakfast option.
Credit: Knickers+Bockers
Similar to the pizzas, the pasta shares the same build-it-yourself concept with 4 kinds of pasta , 3 sauces, 9 kinds of cheese and over 20 toppings to choose from. The pasta portions are relatively small and the two breadsticks that come with it were a little tough for our liking. So if you ask us, it’s definitely back to pizzas.
Overall, Knickers+Bockers is a great dining option for those working in the CBD, especially if you’re looking for something different. They do also offer a delivery service (minimum purchase of $25 with additional $2 delivery charge or free delivery with purchase for $40 and above) through Deliveroo or Foodpanda.
Have you created your own pizza at Knicker+Bockers yet? If so, let us know your favourite way to spice up your pizza or share your creations with us!

Next, you’ll have to choose a drink, and just like that, your selfie will be printed on the foam of your coffee.
The selfies are printed with 100% edible foam and cream. We recommend ordering a cold drink instead of a hot one, for the picture to last longer on the foam. Print your selfie on a cold cup of Mocha ($8.50) or on a cup of Selfie Coffee’s Signature Coffee ($7.50). Other drinks are also available if you’re not into the idea of sipping a picture of yourself.
