Broke AF Couples Can Finally Afford A Staycation In Sentosa Starting April 2019
It’s confirmed. Singaporeans LOVE going on staycations.
No, really. Expedia did a whole survey on it.
In their 2018 Singapore Staycation Study, Singaporeans go an average of 2 staycations per year whereas parents with children are also most likely to go on one.
Planning your next staycation? Again? Well you’re not alone because a lot of us are probably planning our annual year end staycations as well. As much as we love cosy boutique hotels in the city, the idea of spending the night at a luxury hotel in Sentosa sounds perfect too!
But if the thought of spending a minimum of $600 per night makes you cry, don’t fret. 3 new mid-tier hotels will be opening in Sentosa from April next year according to a report by Channel NewsAsia.
Living The Luxe Life
The hotels which was announced first last year, will target the mid-tier segment which includes families, young adults on staycations as well as business travellers.
The 3 hotels are:
1. Outpost Hotel (Opening April 2019)
2. Village Hotel (Opening April 2019)
3. The Barracks Hotel (Opening August 2019)
All 3 hotels are situated in the Palawan area – giving you easy access to the Imbiah monorail station and across the road from Universal Studios Singapore.
Here’s a sneak peak of the hotels:
Village Hotel Sentosa
The largest of the 3 hotels, Village Hotel at Sentosa will house 606 rooms targeted towards families, business travellers and groups. Facilities include themed pool zones, a children’s play pool as well as a lazy river pool.
[caption id="attachment_37921" align="aligncenter" width="991"] Image Credit: Far East Hospitality[/caption]Outpost Hotel
Slightly more atas, Outpost Hotel will feature 193 rooms – which includes a rooftop pool and bar as well as a wedding hall – perfect for couples who are planning on a luxurious wedding set in Sentosa.
If you’re looking for a more romantic option, Outpost Hotel is the perfect option for a getaway with bae.
[caption id="attachment_37923" align="aligncenter" width="991"] Image Credit: Far East Hospitality[/caption]The Barracks Hotel
The smallest of the 3 hotels, The Barracks Hotel is nothing short of spectacular. If you have extra cash to spare, go for The Barracks as its 40 rooms promise guests exclusivity and privacy.
Just like the hotels in the Changi vicinity, the development will be housed in a refurbished conserved colonial building.
[caption id="attachment_37924" align="aligncenter" width="991"] Image Credit: Far East Hospitality[/caption]So if you’ve been longing for a short getaway away from the hustle and bustle of the city, your Sentosa staycation dreams are about to come true.

A Sneak Peek Of i Light Singapore Happening Jan 2019 – The Biggest One Since 2010
The year 2019 will mark 200 years of history for Singapore, and a slew of events have been lined up to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial milestone.
An anchor event to kick-start the Singapore Bicentennial commemoration, i Light Marina Bay festival will return with a special i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition from 28 January to 24 February with sustainable light art installations curated to the theme “Bridges of Time”.
This festival will be the largest since it’s first edition in 2010 – expanding beyond Marina Bay to include the civic district, Singapore River and Raffles Terrace at Fort Canning.
Bridges Of Time
Next year’s edition has received the festival largest response ever to the call for artwork proposals – with over 249 submissions from 36 countries including Singapore in just 2 months.
Here’s a sneak peek of the installations you can expect at i Light Singapore next year.
One of the international light art installations to be featured at the upcoming Festival is “City Gazing Singapore” by artists Mingus Vogel and Justus Bruns from Dutch design collective VOUW. The artists have specially designed the installation to resemble the map of Singapore.
[caption id="attachment_37907" align="aligncenter" width="3508"] Image Credit: i Light Singapore[/caption]By hanging the installation over an open space at The Lawn@Marina Bay, this artwork will have lights programmed to show how the city has grown over time. Festival goers can stand beneath the artwork and turn their gaze upwards into the sky to view the illuminated outlines of our country.
Here’s a video of VOUW’s installation in Amsterdam:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARTEK7gu_lQ
The festival will welcome back Singaporean industrial designer, Yun, who enthralled us with her iconic light art installtion “MoonFlower” at i Light Marina Bay 2017.
Yun will be showcasing her new work called “The Rainbow Connection” which will feature islands of solar light modules in upcycled PET containers suspended in the air which will “come alive” as they sway in the wind.
[caption id="attachment_37906" align="aligncenter" width="2999"] Image Credit: i Light Singapore[/caption]The use of solar powered lighting and upcycled materials for the artwork will help to remind visitors about the importance of sustainable development. Designed to be co-created with the local community, the installation will see members of the public and not-for-profit organisations join the artist at 12 pre-Festival workshops around Singapore to design 800 used cookie containers.
[caption id="attachment_37908" align="aligncenter" width="2120"] Image Credit: i Light Singapore[/caption]In addition, the festival also launched the inaugural i Light Student Award to provide local and international tertiary students a platform to present their own sustainable light art installations at the Festival.
Five student artworks – out of 48 submissions involving 115 students from nine countries (including Singapore) will be showcased at i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition.
More details on the line-up of the artworks at the Festival will be revealed soon!
Mark your calendars and get your cameras ready for 28 January – 24 February 2019 as i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition will be the biggest one yet.

With a repertoire of homemade spreads that have been perfected through generations of bakers, we highly recommend chef John Tan’s homemade kaya – a recipe that can be traced from his grandmother.

Whether the holiday warrants formal social gatherings or a friends-only dim sum feast, there’s truly no better time to swipe on a crimson lipstick.
To many of us, red represents the colour of love and passion. But not to forget, red is also the colour of life for Gabrielle Chanel herself.

In 1924, she turned an intense vermillion red into her first signature lipstick which was a symbol of courage and passion. What better way to pay homage to the brand’s iconic colour than a pop-up store dedicated to exploring red in a myriad of textures and forms.
[caption id="attachment_37709" align="aligncenter" width="2200"] Image Credit: CHANEL[/caption]In conjunction with the new Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme and Rouge Allure Liquid Power – the French fashion house will be launching its third pop-up concept in Singapore.
That being said, the LE ROUGE pop up will feature its very own Red Factory where you can expect an infinite array of lipstick and nail polishes. Beauty lovers can see and play around with the brand’s iconic red makeup and learn more about the process behind the creation of your favourite Chanel makeup.
Perfect for the gram, there are plenty of IG-worthy photo opportunities such as large industrial tanks filled with lipsticks, nail polishes in an acrylic red cage and a wall of lips that hides a passageway coloured in red.

The iconic N°5 bottles will be swapping its usual clear flacon to a crimson hue. You definitely won’t want to miss out on this!
Guests are also treated to the sight of the Red Bar, reminiscent of a covert lounge. Spritz some of the limited red edition Chanel N°5 on yourself before sipping on a red cocktail specially concocted for this event.
