Discover SG Ambassador Highlights #6 – Pizza Party, An Acai Date, Food Tastings & More!

With the first month of 2017 coming to an end, Discover SG has been bustling with activity more than ever! Here, we bring you our monthly round-up of what our Discover SG ambassadors have been up to. This month’s highlights were full of new yummy eats.

1. Alt. Pizza

Craving your next pizza fix but sick of the standard flavours? Look no further.

They were impressed from the get go with the mouth-watering Nutella dip donut balls as starter. Still, the Signature Truffle Shuffle pizza stole the night as everyone’s all-round favourite dish.

Alt. pizza uses only the freshest ingredients: dough made daily from French and Italian sourced flour, and an elite sauce pressed from vine-ripened tomatoes.

Michelin-starred Mak’s Noodle launched a “The Bigger The Better” new menu for Chinese New Year. It’s only available in Singapore! In case you missed it, here it is.

Feeling hungry yet? The five new dishes contain specially handpicked ingredients. Think succulent shiitake mushrooms and juicy king prawns.

Our Discover SG Ambassador Jia Min loved the Abalone and Dumpling Tossed Noodle. Paired with Wonton Soup, she was left wanting for more.

No surprise there, seeing as Mak’s noodle holds the title for “Best Wonton Noodle in Hong Kong”.

While you’re there, be sure to stop by Hong Kong based Honolulu Café.

Renowned for its baked goods, it has recently launched its new Bean Curd Tarts. The silky smooth bean curd is made in-house from scratch, and encased in a buttery melt-in-mouth shortcrust pastry.

3. Fratini La Trattoria Food Tasting

Always having trouble deciding what to order?

4. An Acai Affair

We’re so proud that two of our ambassadors Anna and Isabel have opened their very own acai shop!

You have to drop by An Acai Affair to try Singapore’s first and only Tropical Coconut Bowl with Acai. You can even customise your bowl to your liking.

If you haven’t heard of acai by now, you must have been living under a rock.

A superfood from Brazil, acai has tons of health benefits. It’s reputed to be high in antioxidants and containing anti-aging and weight loss properties.

Located on the 45th floor of Singapore Land Tower, Skyline Club & Lounge offers breathtaking views of the CBD! Alongside a daily happy hour (5pm – 10pm) and amazing events every other day, Skyline Club & Lounge is the best place to kickback at after a long day a work! Best part of Skyline Club & Lounge? They have a special Ladies Membership Card!

Our ambassadors Vanessa Ho and Stephanie Ler were there to witness first hand the fantastic views that Skyline Club & Lounge has to offer!

Singapore Fashion Week is here! And what better way to join in on the festivities than to head to Hardy Hardy’s Fall/Winter 2016 Collection! Held at the National Gallery, this year’s collection was all about heavily intricate motifs and monochromatic colours. 5. Alchemist Beer Lab

6. DSG Ambassador Meetup @ VLV

Whats better than meeting friends over drinks on a Friday night? Nothing really! The DSG team and our ambassadors headed down to VLV for a get together! With an assortment of finger food and free flowing drinks, we had a great time catching up at VLV!

BAKE Cheese Tart, Singapore favourite decadent dessert opened its second outlet at Westgate Mall and our ambassador Valerie Cheong got a behind the scenes look at how these delicious tasting cheese tarts are made!

8. Oyster Indulgence @ Buffet Town

Buffet Town is known for their line up of both international and local fare! This month they had a special all-you-can-eat Oyster Indulgence themed buffet! Featuring 12 varieties of Asian and Western influenced oysters on the half shell, our ambassadors Estella Ho, Si Yu and Doreen Ong were in for a never ending flow of freshly shucked oysters!

9. Workbench Bistro

Here at DiscoverSG, we’re all about everything local! Local events, local food you name it and we’re there! Our ambassadors attended some really exciting events this past month. Here are some of the highlights!

1. Kimberley’s Weekend Stay At Hotel Indigo

Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong is one of Singapore’s Peranakan-themed hotels. Filled with old-school fixtures and splashes of bright colours, this hotel would make any Peranakan feel right at home. Infusing Singapore culture and history into its hotel, Hotel Indigo has its walls decked out with drawings of old school Singapore.

What’s a better way to spend the weekend than to catchup on some R&R!? Kimberley Yong, one of our ambassadors, spent her weekend doing just that! She got a chance to laze by Hotel Indigo’s infinity pool which offers breathtaking views!

2. Ellysage Launch

If you’re into shopping online (and shopping local!) you would definitely have heard of Ellysage. Offering modern versatile pieces perfect for work or play, Ellysage has a made a name for itself amongst local apparel brands! Great news for Ellysage fans, they’ve opened their first flagship store at ION Orchard! Ellysage’s flagship store opened its doors on 15 September to much fanfare and our ambassadors (Estella Ho, Shivon Chua, Victoria, Stephanie Ler) were there to witness it firsthand!

3. Against the Current Singapore Tour

Vanessa Ho, Anissa Tan and Dacia Kee were all there to catch Against The Current LIVE! Sadly, if you missed out on this spectacular performance, you’re pretty much stuck to listening to them on Spotify. But don’t let that get you down! They’re coming back to SCAPE* pretty soon!

4. Ultra Singapore

Ultra 2016 needs no introduction! The 2 day electronic dance music festival was chock full of music, dancing and of course memories that will last a lifetime! Our ambassadors Novita Lam, Estella Ho, Raeanne Ang, Noreen Fong, Clare Chang, Shivon Chua and Dacia Kee hung out together at this year’s biggest music festival while enjoying the music from big names like Above & Beyond, deadmau5  and Kygo! And really, what else do you need for a perfect weekend?!

5. Shangri- La Food Launch

Shangri-La has always been at the forefront for elegant meals ideal for special occasions! But with Shangri-La’s  latest food initiative The Table, they’ve just created a new way for the food obsessed to fully immerse themselves at meals!
