The lesser known portion of Gardens By The Bay, this tranquil park is filled with lush lawns, elegant palm trees, and an unobstructed view of the fireworks! Situated opposite the Supertree Grove, the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, we suggest splurging on hawker treats to go from Satay by The Bay beforehand to feast out while waiting for the big show.
It’s accessible by car via Tanjong Rhu Road or across the bridge from Marina Barrage.
Open daily 24 hours, admission is absolutely free, so bring your picnic mats and hunker down for a peaceful night.

2. The Esplanade Roof Terrace

The greatest draw to watching the fireworks at the Sports Hub is avoiding the crowds of Marina Bay. If you position yourself right, along the waterfront, you get an undisturbed view across the water all the way to Marina Bay.
The numerous eateries here also means you don’t need to prepare your own picnic basket or food. Before the fireworks start, head over to Kallang Wave Mall for dinner or get some munchies to snack on while you watch the spectacular fireworks display.

12. Marina South Pier Carpark (Level 3)
The Marina South Pier isn’t just for ferry rides to St John’s Island. Climb up to level 3 of the car park and you’ll find a viewing spot of the ocean and CBD skyline in the background.
It may be packed with cars on the actual day itself but if you just want an epic view of the fireworks, the view from the top alone will be enough for your IG-worthy pictures.

Don’t Fight With The Crowd This NYE – Catch A Fireworks Musical From Japan At The Marina Bay Floating Platform
Well, we’re already halfway into November (seriously, where did the time go?), which means that it’s just about time to start making plans for New Year’s Eve.
From community centres to clubs there’s no shortage of venues to usher in 2019, but arguably the most popular place to be is still the fireworks display at Marina Bay (judging by the massive crowds we see every year, we’re clearly not the only ones who think so).
If that’s where you’re headed and want to take your viewing experience to the next level, however, then Star Island – Singapore Countdown Edition is something that you should definitely check out.
Fireworks, Japanese Style

Taking place in conjunction with the Marina Bay countdown, Star Island is a musical centered around the concept of Hanabi, a long-standing Japanese tradition of eating, drinking and being generally merry while watching fireworks.
“Traditional” doesn’t mean low-key, though. The show will be equipped with an array of futuristic gizmos, including laser projections, pyrotechnics and a whopping 200 speakers that’ll create an immersive, audio-sensory experience that you won’t soon forget.

On the narrative side of things, the show will feature not one, not two, but six segments, each choreographed to a unique soundtrack and featuring an extensive cast of multi-disciplinary performers. If you didn’t manage to catch the national day parade this year, this might be the next best thing.
While the musical itself will run for a little over 60 minutes, the festivities will start much earlier — from 5pm, ticket holders will be able to indulge in the Star Island marketplace, which’ll feature roving performances, family-friendly activities and of course, a wide variety of F&B stalls. Once the fireworks end, there’ll also be a dance party to help you make full use of your public holiday.

A Sneak Peek Of i Light Singapore Happening Jan 2019 – The Biggest One Since 2010
The year 2019 will mark 200 years of history for Singapore, and a slew of events have been lined up to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial milestone.
An anchor event to kick-start the Singapore Bicentennial commemoration, i Light Marina Bay festival will return with a special i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition from 28 January to 24 February with sustainable light art installations curated to the theme “Bridges of Time”.
This festival will be the largest since it’s first edition in 2010 – expanding beyond Marina Bay to include the civic district, Singapore River and Raffles Terrace at Fort Canning.

Next year’s edition has received the festival largest response ever to the call for artwork proposals – with over 249 submissions from 36 countries including Singapore in just 2 months.
Here’s a sneak peek of the installations you can expect at i Light Singapore next year.
One of the international light art installations to be featured at the upcoming Festival is “City Gazing Singapore” by artists Mingus Vogel and Justus Bruns from Dutch design collective VOUW. The artists have specially designed the installation to resemble the map of Singapore.

By hanging the installation over an open space at The Lawn@Marina Bay, this artwork will have lights programmed to show how the city has grown over time. Festival goers can stand beneath the artwork and turn their gaze upwards into the sky to view the illuminated outlines of our country.

The festival will welcome back Singaporean industrial designer, Yun, who enthralled us with her iconic light art installtion “MoonFlower” at i Light Marina Bay 2017.
Yun will be showcasing her new work called “The Rainbow Connection” which will feature islands of solar light modules in upcycled PET containers suspended in the air which will “come alive” as they sway in the wind.

The use of solar powered lighting and upcycled materials for the artwork will help to remind visitors about the importance of sustainable development. Designed to be co-created with the local community, the installation will see members of the public and not-for-profit organisations join the artist at 12 pre-Festival workshops around Singapore to design 800 used cookie containers.

In addition, the festival also launched the inaugural i Light Student Award to provide local and international tertiary students a platform to present their own sustainable light art installations at the Festival.
Five student artworks – out of 48 submissions involving 115 students from nine countries (including Singapore) will be showcased at i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition.

This newest addition to the themed cafe scene may be the most magical one yet.
The quirky Enchanted Cafe charms at first sight with its beautiful decor, complete with a magical garden and collection of spell books.

But what’s most striking is the presentation of its dishes.
Think: Bright red cherry compote, blackberries and blueberries in a vivid splash against a deep blue plate, sprinkled with seemingly handpicked bits of nuts and leaves. That’s what makes up the tangy, yet sweet Berries Compote French Toast ($14.90).
For something traditional with a twist, there’s the Ngoh Hiang Burger ($18.90), which is exactly what it sounds like, complete with bits of water chestnut and black garlic sauce made from scratch.
The most instagramable thing here is the Sorcerer’s Elixir ($9.90), a blue drink that turns glittery purple after an orange liquid is added.
This has to be the most enchanting cafe to open since the Harry Potter Cafe.

This coming August, the Singapore Coffee Festival will be back again and we hear DBS will have a hand in it!
Happening at Marina Bay Cruise Centre, this year’s coffee festival experience will come with a gorgeous waterfront view. While the finer details of the event have not yet been ironed out, we’re guessing (and hoping!) some of our favourite coffee vendors will be there, roasting up a delicious storm.

These Light Art Installations Popping Up At Marina Bay Will Make You See Nature In A Whole New Light
i Light Marina Bay is back for its fifth edition, featuring 20 light-art installations from 9 different countries.
Although this year, there are 5 less installations from i Light 2016’s 25, this year’s festival will feature three festival hubs and a collaboration with international light festivals.
Urchin

Themed ‘Light & Nature’, i Light Marina Bay 2017 explores the intriguing tension between Singapore the concrete jungle and the ever present light and nature in our garden city.
Three New Festival Hubs
This year, the annual event caters more to families with its three festival hubs that feature sustainability workshops, activities for kids, and several F&B outlets.
Located at The Promontory @ Marina Bay, The Float @ Marina Bay and the Bayfront Event Space, parents can bring their children to each of these three areas for some family-friendly fun!
The Colourful Garden of Light

For the tiny tots, parents of toddlers can head to The Float @ Marina Bay for the Art Zoo, where the children can go crazy on the inflatable playground, set majestically in a colourful zoological garden. With giant inflatable animal sculptures, this is a hands-on experience not to be missed by both Mummy and Baby.
Want to teach your older kids about recycling, urban farming and kinetic energy? The Promontory @ Marina Bay is the place for you! It features the Fantastical World of eco.me, a learning experience made fun by The Rice Company, an arts and cultural non-profit organisation in Singapore.
To satisfy your tummies after a long day of learning and interacting with the installations, the Bayfront Event Space will provide you with a spread of yummy treats. To round up the day, you and your tired kids can also enjoy the live music performances!
Ocean Pavilion

The introduction of the three family-friendly festival hubs is meant to help “reinforce the position of Marina Bay as a sustainable precinct”, says festival Director and Director (Place Management) of URA, Mr Jason Chen.
With the main focus of the i Light Marina Bay festival being environmental stability, Mr Chen adds that the URA is “glad to be able to involve our local community and younger generation to contribute to this meaningful festival.”
Ultra (Light)

International light-art installations
Along with the new festival hubs are light-art installations from 9 countries, including France, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
i Light Marina Bay 2017 will also be collaborating with international light festivals, namely the Bella Skyway Festival in Poland, the Scottsdale Canal Convergence in the United States and the Amsterdam Light Festival in The Netherlands.
In return for three wonderful installations, we will be sending an installation by local artist Lee Yun Qin.
Moonflower

Her installation, ‘Moonflower’, featuring over 800 luminescent flowers made of wire mesh, will be showcased at the Scottsdale Canal Convergence 2017 in the United States.
For a minimum price of $5, these 800 over stalks of flowers will be up for grabs to the public, with all proceeds going to the Garden City Fund, a charity supporting urban biodiversity and landscaping efforts in Singapore.
Northern Lights

In exchange, we in Singapore will be the happy recipients of Northern Lights by Swedish artist Aleksandra Stratimirovic, HYBYCOZO by American artist Yelena Filipchuk and Canadian artist Serge Beaulieu, and Home by Anna Galas from Poland.

When asked for the inspiration behind the international collaborations this year, Festival Curator and Principal Architect of Zarch Collaboratives, Mr Randy Chan, said that through collaboration, they hope to “bring our local artists to an international level”, as well as to “give a larger footprint to what i Light Marina Bay can do, not just in Singapore itself”.
HYBYCOZO

Noting that the theme of Light & Nature was a perfect fit with “the backdrop of the garden city we live in,” Mr Chan added that “[it] is encouraging to see continued interest and participation from local and international artists and [he] hope[s] the art work will inspire visitors to kick-start their personal sustainable journey.”

5 Spots in SG To Catch The Sunrise Of Your Lifetime!
Google Singapore and you’ll most likely find shots of our skyscrapers or icons such as the Merlion and Victoria Theatre. But did you also know that hidden in Singapore are spots that provide you with breathtaking views of the sunrise?
Whether you’re a guy scouting for a venue for your next romantic date or a professional photographer who’s looking to capture the next insta-worthy shot, here are 5 places where you can catch the perfect sunrise. Who knows, you may just be the next Darren Soh.
1. Marina Bay

This may be a no-brainer, but Marina Bay is the perfect sunrise spot in Singapore. The sun rises from between Marina Bay Sands and the Art Science Museum, giving you the perfect frame. Plus, Marina Bay is pretty accessible by public transport so getting there in the wee hours of the morning shouldn’t be too difficult. That is minus the part of actually having to wake up before the sunrise.
Tips
There are many angles/ spots to catch the sunrise, but the most popular spot for photographers is to be at the Merlion Park. The view from there is spectacular as you’ll be able to capture the Singapore Flyer, Art Science Museum, and the Marina Bay Sands building. The best time to be at the location is around 6:30am, as the sun usually rises at around 7am.
2. Changi Broadwalk

Since the sun rises from the east, it wouldn’t make sense not to head to the most eastern part of Singapore to catch the sunrise, right? Located at the extreme end of Singapore, Changi Broadwalk, remains as one of the most popular places where Singaporean photographers go to get their beautiful sunrise photos. With the sun rising above the calm sea waters and the sound of waves hitting the shore, it’s definitely a breathtaking sight to behold.
Tips
The sunrise can be admired from anywhere along the broadwalk and beach, so there is no specific spot to catch the sunrise. If you’re planning on heading down, we recommend that you make your way down to Changi Broadwalk by 6:15am. This will allow you to explore the place before the sun rises, to find a spot that is most comfortable for you. Changi Broadwalk is located close to Changi Point Ferry Terminal, so once you’ve found the ferry terminal, you’re at the right place!
3. Lower Seletar Reservoir Park

Lower Seletar Reservoir Park has been a popular sunrise spot for many photographers in Singapore. The waters are still and people only start streaming in during midday. Grab a mat and a basket of snacks and you’re ready to have a romantic breakfast by the banks of the reservoir with the sunrise as your backdrop. Lower Seletar Reservoir is quite a distance from Khatib MRT and is a 10 minute walk from the nearest bus stop, but the stunning view will more than make up for the travelling.
Tips
Walk along the banks of Lower Seletar Reservoir Park and you’ll be able to find many comfortable spots to catch the sunrise. Most photographers like to camp out at the heritage bridge for their sunrise shots. It’s best to be at Lower Seletar Reservoir Park by 6:30am this will allow you to find the location that suits you the most!
4. East Coast Park

East Coast Park is a popular place for roller-bladers and cycling enthusiasts. Head there during the day and you’ll find many cycling and playing along its sandy shores. But head there in the morning, and you’ll be greeted with a gorgeous sunrise. It is best to get there by car, and having a bike with you would come in handy when you’re looking for the perfect spot.
Tips
The sunrise can be caught from anywhere along the beach. It’s best to arrive at East Coast Park early as the carparks are located quite a distance away from the beach.
5. Pulau Ubin

If you’re up for an adventure, head down to Pulau Ubin! Besides being a spectacular sunrise spot, Pulau Ubin is also home to other activities such as trekking, cycling and fishing, all of which you can do after the catching the sunrise.
Tips
Once you’ve arrived on the island, head towards the Jelutong Campsite. The best spot to catch the sunrise is along the sandy beaches located just a short 5 minutes walk from the jetty. It is best to explore Pulau Ubin beforehand so as to familiarise yourself with the place. Remember to bring along flashlights, insect repellent and water.
Directions
To get to Pulau Ubin, you’ll have to take a short boat ride from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. The ferry costs $3/person for a one way trip. An additional fee of $2 is charged if you’re bringing your own bicycle. There is no specific operating time for the ferry service and the boat leaves the jetty when the minimum number of 12 people is met. Alternatively, you can request for an express charter ferry service for $36 and the boat will leave immediately. We recommend to make special arrangements with the ferry operator the day before, to ensure that the ferry is in operation.
