Last Minute Christmas Shopping At Orchard? Here Are The Cheapest Places To Park

Orchard Road is one area in Singapore where it’s notoriously expensive to park your car.

I’m sure we’ve all experienced the horror of arriving at the car park exit gantry, only to find that we’ve racked up over $10 in parking fees (true story). And that’s on top of all the money we’ve spent shopping.

Unless you have loads of things to carry, or are travelling with kids in tow, there’s just no justifying spending that kind of money on what is essentially a place to put your car while you run around doing your errands.

As someone who’s in town way too often, here are the cheapest places to park your car no matter where in town you need to go.

Cheapest Parking In Orchard: Weekdays Before 5/6pm

1. Far East Plaza [14 Scotts Road, S(228213)]

Mon – Fri: $1.07 for 1st hr, $1.07 for next subsequent 30min (before 5pm)

2. Plaza Singapura [68 Orchard Road, S(238839)]

Mon – Fri: $1.28 for 1st hr, $0.43 for next subsequent 15min (before 6pm)

Your team will have to navigate through various zones and challenges to find the anti-toxin cure for the virus outbreak. Through a series of obstacles, zombies will come hot on your heels so be sure to slay them through an immersive game of laser tag and solve the puzzles in the escape room.

Gear up with a battle rifle, and you’re ready to face the apocalypse. Use your ammo wisely as you would not want to turn into one of them!

Once you’re all suited up, you’ll find yourself transported to a run down room where you and your team have to work together to find a key to proceed to the next room.

Walk through the dimly lit maze where you’ll find zombies lurking in every corner. You have 5 minutes in each zone to complete the mission!

The fun doesn’t end there. Once you’re out, you’ll be faced with over 15 zombies coming towards you in every direction. Work with your team to kill as many zombies as you can.

Once you’ve reach the end, use the clues you collected to find the right anti-toxin cure to save mankind.

Commemorate your victory (or loss) with a picture at the end and enjoy exclusive vouchers to eateries like Geláre and Nandos or grab your friends for another round of escape room fun at Go Team and Trapped!

Take note that there are no age restrictions, however children under the age of 13 MUST be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Tickets are priced at $25 (students and members), $30 (single-pass) and $120 (for a team of 4).

Best part, the team with the most points at the end of the event will win a $1000 cash prize.

Orchard Road Turns On The Christmas Magic With A Disney-Themed Light-Up This Year

Every year, in the months leading up to the festive Christmas season, Orchard Road is decked out in the prettiest of lights and glittery decor thanks to Christmas on a Great Street.

Who can forget the giant glowing arcs?

Now that National Day is over, that means it’s time to prepare for Halloween and Christmas. And this year, Orchard Road is about to be taken over by everyone’s favourite childhood characters.

This Christmas, Hitachi proudly presents Disney Magical Moments – Christmas on a Great Street!

A Very Disney Christmas

Disney fans can expect to see themed installations featuring Mickey Mouse and friends, the Disney Princesses, characters from Frozen, and Pixar’s Toy Story, all along the stretches of Orchard Road!

The Disney spectacle begins from Tanglin Mall along Tanglin Road with the Disney Princesses greeting you, and ends at Dhoby Ghaut, with the beloved characters of Pixar’s Toy Story.

Some of the highlights to look out for along the stretch include the Ariel (The Little Mermaid) photo spot at Shaw House, Mickey Mouse and friends set pieces, and pop-ups by popular brands such as OWNDAYS, Häagen-Dazs, Uniqlo, SK-II, and OPPO!

We heard there’ll be 25 brands in total, so stay tuned for more details on the other participating brands!

Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza will also host the Endless Wonder Christmas Village, with bouncy castles, food vendors, and musical performances!

That’s not all, head over to Plaza Singapura for the Light-Up Ceremony on 10 November 2018 at 7pm and watch as the Disney-themed decor lights up Orchard Road and usher in the spirit of Christmas!

The lights and decor will be up 1 January 2019 so you’ll have plenty of time to get all your photos.

Cheapest Places To Park In Orchard – 2017 Edition

Orchard Road is one area in Singapore where it’s notoriously expensive to park your car.

I’m sure we’ve all experienced the horror of arriving at the car park exit gantry, only to find that we’ve racked up over $10 in parking fees (true story). And that’s on top of all the money we’ve spent shopping.

Unless you have loads of things to carry, or are travelling with kids in tow, there’s just no justifying spending that kind of money on what is essentially a place to put your car while you run around doing your errands.

As someone who’s in town way too often, I decided to find out where the cheapest places to park in town are. Here are the cheapest places to park your car no matter where in town you need to go, and I promise, they’re all unde 500m away.

Instead of parking at ION Orchard, park at: 

Mon – Fri (before 5pm): $2.67 for 1st hr; $1.28 for subsequent 30 min
Mon – Fri (after 5pm): $3/entry
Sat – Sun/PH (before 5pm): $2.56 for 1st hr; $1.88 for subsequent 30 min
Sat – Sun/PH (after 5pm): $3.74/entry

If you can help it, don’t park at ION Orchard unless it’s after 5pm. I learned this lesson the hard way.

The Plaza Singapura car park is always full, and for good reason – the parking rates are fairly decent here. For that reason, I’ve listed down some nearby car parks with rates that are also competitive, if not better.
