A New Café Gem Has Opened Up On Rangoon Road, And It’s Straight Out Of A Fairy Tale

Ever wish you could escape into a perfect fairy tale world?

Now, you can! Well, at least for lunch.

[caption id="attachment_26841" align="alignnone" width="2048"] Image Credit: Enchanted Cafe Facebook[/caption]

The beautiful and charming Enchanted Cafe has just opened up along Rangoon Road, for you to dine and while away your weekends in a fantasy world.

Enchanting Ambience

First things first, the aesthetic of this place is on point!

Entering into this cafe is like stepping foot into the fairy tale garden of your dreams–the only things missing are actual fairies.

Picture a wooden shelf lined with large vintage books, twigs and potted plants hanging from the ceiling, fairy lights draped down branches and across the walls, and quirky, mismatched tables and chairs filling the space.

[caption id="attachment_26680" align="aligncenter" width="1628"] Image Credit: Image Credit: The food and drinks at Enchanted Cafe are just as dreamy, both in terms of taste and presentation.

Something you can’t miss is the theatrical Sorcerer’s Elixir ($9.90)–also the most instagram-worthy of them all.

It starts as a blue drink, set in a stone dish, surrounded by wispy smoke. Add an orange “potion”, swirl it all together, and it transforms into a deep, glittery purple.

[caption id="attachment_26678" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] Image Credit: Image Credit: Enchanted Cafe Facebook[/caption]

Also on the menu are brunch favourites like the Big Breakkie ($17.90), as well as the Croque Madame ($14.90).

The standout item on the menu, however, would have to be a traditional favourite with a twist: The Ngoh Hiang Burger ($18.90).

This unique burger adds a touch of familiar Singaporean flavour to the otherwise fantasy-like setting.

Expect a tender pork patty marinated in five-spice seasoning, complete with bits of water chestnut, and black garlic sauce that’s made from scratch.

[caption id="attachment_26683" align="aligncenter" width="1188"] Image Credit: Ng Yi Yang[/caption]

And don’t leave without ordering dessert!

Your best bet here is the French Vanilla Crepe Cake.

The thin pancakes are fluffy, with generous layers of light, airy cream slathered in between. Perfect after a hearty meal.

Next weekend, why not bring your friends and camera here, for the perfect meal and #ootd!

This month’s highlights include plenty of amazing events and yummy eats!

Its newest addition is Birders, a snazzy, modern yakitori bar, for all the Japanese soul food you could ask for.

Diana loved the spring rolls, as well as the sweet matcha lava cake dessert.

We were also impressed by their selection of imported Sake that even came with a reference index of the drinks’ sweetness and acidity levels.

What they loved most was that each of them could find an outfit that matched their personal style!

Diana’s favourites out of all the elegant pieces were the dainty, yet eye-catching lace tops, while Vanessa’s was the red off-shoulder lace dress.

Our ambassadors Clare, Jia Min, Kimberly, Shivon and Stephanie were brought to investigate the unknown nooks of Central Singapore.

They discovered amazing bars they’ve never been to, like Tiger’s Milk, Native Bar and Operation Dagger!

They got to savour all kinds of unique cocktails, like Tiger Milk’s fruity strawberry-passionfruit cocktail, and Operation Dagger’s toffee apple cocktail.

What excited them the most though, was ANTZ, an exotic cocktail at Native Bar, which comes garnished with actual ants.

For dessert, get the Thai Milk Tea, Green Tea, or go for the popular Taro (with a hidden gingko nut within!) and Pumpkin flavours.

This newest addition to the themed cafe scene may be the most magical one yet.

The quirky Enchanted Cafe charms at first sight with its beautiful decor, complete with a magical garden and collection of spell books.

But what’s most striking is the presentation of its dishes.

Think: Bright red cherry compote, blackberries and blueberries in a vivid splash against a deep blue plate, sprinkled with seemingly handpicked bits of nuts and leaves. That’s what makes up the tangy, yet sweet Berries Compote French Toast ($14.90).

For something traditional with a twist, there’s the Ngoh Hiang Burger ($18.90), which is exactly what it sounds like, complete with bits of water chestnut and black garlic sauce made from scratch.

The most instagramable thing here is the Sorcerer’s Elixir ($9.90), a blue drink that turns glittery purple after an orange liquid is added.

This has to be the most enchanting cafe to open since the Harry Potter Cafe.

We know all too well that 1 meal is sometimes not enough.

That’s why we were overjoyed when Dookki, which means 2 meals in Korean, opened its doors in Singapore!

[caption id="attachment_26166" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: Pholar[/caption]

This fun and “Full-filling” dining concept has steadily gained popularity within and out of Korea.

The first meal begins with the much loved, signature Tteokbokki dish. Choose from 8 types of air-flown Tteokbokki, and your preferred level of spiciness from 7 types of sauces.

The second meal adds rice, kimchi, sweet corn and other ingredients to create the all time favourite Kimchi fried rice–and all for $18.80.

We know where we’ll be stuffing our faces this weekend.

10. Bojio Cafe

We didn’t expect to find this gem in the heart of Tampines.

The quirkily named cafe allows families and friends to jio (invite) each other for a healthy desserts!

[caption id="attachment_26165" align="aligncenter" width="900"] Image Credit: Kopitiam Bot[/caption]

Their homemade ice-creams, waffles and toasts are friendly to the very young, very old, as well as health-conscious friends.

The story behind its founding is all too relatable. Mr Chan, the star chef, and Mrs Chan’s picky family members love hunting for dessert spots all over Singapore.

Inspired to open a shop of their own, they created a DIY ice cream recipe, purchased the machinery and ingredients required, and never looked back.

All their hand-made ice-cream contains reduced sugar, children friendly milk/cream, no preservatives or colouring and only fresh fruits.

Don’t say bojio, and drop by for something sweet!

This S’pore Bar Charges You Based On The Hour – The Earlier You Drink, The Happier Your Wallet

Hey there, Singapore After Nine is back with a new find!

Situated just off Clarke Quay, this new gem is located at the peaceful 11 Keng Cheow Road. For those in the know, Stickies Bar has come to be synonymous with 3 things: food, fun and affordability.

It’s a game cafe, diner and bar, all rolled into one – the Holy Grail for lovers of games, food and booze.

While the merry-making usually begins after dark at most bars, Stickies Bar keeps its fires burning round the clock.

[caption id="attachment_24751" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credits: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

This means you’ve got a good option for lunch, and a place to chill after the sun goes down. Stickies Bar offers great promotions and dishes up some tasty food, so you don’t go hungry in between shots.

We at DiscoverSG popped in to take a look and lo and behold, it was indeed all fun and games at Stickies Bar.

They’ve got game…

It has a pool table that’s open at all hours, which you can play to no end.

[caption id="attachment_24753" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

There’s also a PlayStation 4, with a huge range of games including Mortal Kombat and FIFA 17. The best thing? Stickies Bar doesn’t charge any user fees!

If darts are more up your alley, dart boards are also on the ready.

What’s a game place without some good ol’ party games? Stickies Bar has a shelf packed full of them including Exploding Kittens, Uno-Jenga, Saboteur, and more! If you’re a sucker for the classics, they’ve even got chess!

[caption id="attachment_24754" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

And finally, how can we do without party favourite, Beer Pong?

[caption id="attachment_24755" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

Games aside, we loved how customers could plug their music devices to the speaker system and play their own songs! Blast your favourite tunes and feel right at home with your own jams playing in the background!

Next, we got a taste of what the kitchen had to offer.

What’s for dinner?

1. Appetizer Party Platter (NA)

To start things off, we were served a very special party platter—special because it’s nowhere on the menu. We got to try a mix of cheesy curly fries ($11), popcorn chicken ($11), chicken karaage ($12) and sesame wings ($14).

[caption id="attachment_24756" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

These bites stayed crisp long after they were served and we loved that they didn’t come dripping with oil!

2. Soup of the Day ($4)

The soup of the day when we were there was tomato soup, a rich, tangy soup topped with crisp squares of garlic bread. The tomato flavour was strong, but it was a little too sour for my liking. Then again, if you like your soup with a little more zestiness, this would be it.

[caption id="attachment_24758" align="alignnone" width="2016"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

The soup of the day here is changed up regularly. Some days, they serve the classic mushroom soup, and on other days, they serve a cheesy broccoli soup. As for the others…. We’ll leave you to discover them for yourself!

3. 10-inch 4 Cheese Pizza ($13)

Think you know what a pizza looks like? This thin-crusted wonder will surprise you!

[caption id="attachment_24759" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

Topped with a decadent mix of 4 cheeses–mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar, and nacho cheese–this pizza is a serious game changer. The crust was crisp, and there was (surprisingly!) enough crust to balance out all that cheesy goodness. The cheesy flavours were complemented by the additional top-up of turkey ham, and the pizza came lightly seared.

4. Beef Lasagna ($14)

[caption id="attachment_24761" align="alignnone" width="2016"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

Beef layered between sheets of pasta, bathed in flavourful bolognese sauce… If that sounds good, it tasted even better. As we sliced our forks through the layers of meat and pasta, they came away with stringy strands of cheese. The pasta could have done with a little more resistance, but hey, we all have our preferences. The dish was served with a salad on the side, drizzled with a yummy homemade sesame dressing.

5. Flamélicious Spicy Chicken Quesadilla ($18)

This Flamélicious Spicy Chicken Quesadilla was the highlight of our night!

[caption id="attachment_24762" align="alignnone" width="2016"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]

Spicier than Stickies Bar’s waitresses, this dish had us gulping down cups of water in between mouthfuls. Sandwiched within a crispy, toasted quesadilla shell was a generous helping of gooey, stringy cheese and fiery chicken pieces, tender and marinated with 3 secret spices.

Thankfully, the shell managed to stay intact despite the substantial fillings inside it, making it a much less messy affair than it could have been.

Food & Drink Promotions at Stickies Bar

Besides the array of games and facilities, Stickies Bar has some sweet deals you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Considering the quality of the grub here, these promos are the real deal.

If you love your drinks, Stickies Bar has got your back…

Thanks to Face To Face Noodle House, that’s no longer the case!

[caption id="attachment_24705" align="aligncenter" width="2048"] Image Credit: Face To Face Noodle House[/caption]
