A Cut Above The Rest – This Is Probably The Most Instagrammable Hair Salon In Singapore
Do you remember the times in your childhood when your parents used to bring (or drag) you to the neighbourhood barber shop to get your hair cut? The leather seats with metal frames, faint smell of hair dye and the blocky hard cushion they used to prop you up so the chatty uncle or auntie (who typically goes way back with your family) can trim your locks.
As we grew up, we gradually and unknowingly transitioned from these vintage barbershops to the stylish modern hair salons that we frequent today.
Hair salons are a dime in a dozen in Singapore, however, there is one that is hoping to be a cut above the rest.
Hair Salon Made For Instagram
Tucked away in a former office space and hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city is Chez Vous: HideAway – which unabashedly bills itself as Singapore’s most Instagrammable hair salon. Far from your ordinary hair salon, Chez Vous is a breakaway from the usual makeover stations, old school chandeliers and marble flooring.
[caption id="attachment_38434" align="aligncenter" width="2074"] Image Credit: Chez Vous[/caption]What makes it so Instagrammable you may ask? For starters, there are seven different zones set up as a maze across its 1,800 sq ft interior, each offering a different experience. Part salon, part sanctuary and part-playhouse, this salon is designed to create an immersive, retreat-like experience.
[caption id="attachment_38441" align="aligncenter" width="2120"] Image Credit: Chez Vous[/caption][caption id="attachment_38440" align="aligncenter" width="1048"] Image Credit: Chez Vous[/caption]
Take countless selfies in a Hogwarts-inspired library and get your hair cut in an urban-minimalist loft which comes with a quirky Instagram-perfect bathtub right in the middle. You don’t only get to enjoy the hair services and your new look, but also feel like you’re on a retreat.
[caption id="attachment_38435" align="aligncenter" width="2120"] Image Credit: Chez Vous[/caption][caption id="attachment_38437" align="aligncenter" width="2480"] Chez Vous: HideAway’s urban-minimalist loft has styling pods and a quirky Instagram-perfect bathtub right in the middle | Image Credit: Chez Vous[/caption]
Guests are encouraged to drop by 15 minutes ahead of their appointed time to enjoy the complimentary spa extras the salon offers. Unwind at the Relaxation Lounge which boasts a menu of signature herbal teas, spa snacks and leather massage chairs equipped with an oxygen bar and scalp rejuvenation machines.
Other complimentary add-ons include getting a Swedish scalp massage to the sound of a Tibetan Singing Bowl. Yes. Extra? Maybe, but we’re not mad about it.
[caption id="attachment_38439" align="aligncenter" width="2114"] Image Credit: Chez Vous[/caption]Each experience will also be accompanied by a bespoke Aromatherapy Journey, where your selected essential oil blend will accompany you through each step of your hair service, from the shampoo to the shoulder massage.
And all of these services are a GIVEN for every customer.
Here’s the catch. While all of these services may sound like the ideal place to pamper yourself, expect to fork out a minimum of $199 while you’re here.
There are only 4 tiers available here (for all hair length):
1. $199 for 2 services (Cut + 1 other service)
2. $299 for 3 services (Cut + 2 other services)
3. $399 for 4 services (Cut + 3 other services)
4. $499 for 5 services (Cut + 4 other services)
Check out their list of services here.
All we’re trying to say is, if you have money to throw and you feel like treating yourself, make your way down to Chez Vous: HideAway for a hair cut like no other.
Take all the time you need at this hair salon as each Chez Vous stylist will only take up to five appointments in a day to ensure customers get all the attention – and all the pouty selfies you need.

I Tried A S’pore Based Skincare Line For A Month, Here’s How My Skin Looks Like Now
Remember your first skincare routine? We bet it looked a lot like a foamy bar of soap or cream cleanser, a bottle of toner and some cotton pads, and maybe a cream for your acne problems.
We’re guessing you probably could not imagine following the same routine now. As your skin needs shifts with age, so will your products.
When it comes to skincare, routine varies from person to person. They can be minimal or extreme depending on your skin type, environment, age and budget. And with so many skincare products out there, it can be difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
IDS Skincare is a homegrown brand that was started by Dr SK Tan. For the unacquainted, Dr SK is one of the foremost skincare doctors in Singapore. IDS’ skincare line is made to deliver highly visible results that surpass those achieved by most prescription products, without the side effects they often cause.
[caption id="attachment_38153" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: IDS Skincare[/caption]Majority of us are used to turning to Korean skincare products to miraculously solve all of our problems, so our colleague, Esther, decided to jump on the IDS bandwagon to check out if our homegrown brand is everything that it promises to be.
Identifying Your Skin Type
If you don’t already have a good idea what your skin type is, you definitely would want to be able to identify that before beginning a new routine.
You can get a skin analysis at IDS Clinic, where doctors are able to help pinpoint the cause of your skin problems.
“I’ve always thought I had combination skin but the doctor at IDS told me that my skin type leans towards the oily side,” Esther shared with us.
[caption id="attachment_38148" align="aligncenter" width="1587"] Image Credit: @estherachel[/caption]Not only do they provide consultation services but they also offer products from their IDS Skincare line that are designed to address the most common skin problems faced by the public. After consultation, IDS will recommend treatments or a set of products to address all potential concerns.
Morning And Night Routine
After the consultation with IDS, they set Esther up with a range of products specifically for her skin.
Her daily skincare routine includes 10 products that are meticulously grouped to cleanse, balance and protect the skin for a flawless complexion.
[caption id="attachment_38154" align="aligncenter" width="728"] Image Credit: IDS Skincare[/caption]
- Refreshing Cleanser: non-drying cleanser for oily and blemish-prone skin
- Refreshing Toner: skin-refinement for oily and blemish-prone skin
- Probiotic Mask + DermProbiotic: a mineral-rich clay mask that soothes inflamed skin
- Pore Formula: an ultra-light pore-refining solution that clears blackheads
- C-Plus: Vitamin C serum to lighten and even out skin tone
- Blemish Clear: help clears blemishes without excessive dryness
- Eye Rescue: reduces visible sign of aging and brightening eye area
- Oil-Free Moisturizer: seals in moisture to plump up skin and smooth fine lines
- DermaShield Serum: protection against blue light and pollution
- Non-Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++: protects the skin from short and long-term damage from UV rays
The formulas are designed to target specific skincare concerns and are packed with the highest level of effifacious ingredients possible, so users could get the most visible results in the shortest time possible.
Within the first 5 days of religiously following through the skincare routine, she noticed that her bare skin was a lot more radiant and glowy as compared to when she first started.
[caption id="attachment_38151" align="aligncenter" width="1587"] Image Credit: @estherachel[/caption]However just like many others after starting on a new extensive skincare routine, their skin will tend to “purge”. As for Esther, her skin started purging two weeks after starting her new skincare routine.
[caption id="attachment_38150" align="aligncenter" width="1587"] Image Credit: @estherachel[/caption]If you can grin and bear the purging or breakouts for a few weeks, it may very well go away, but if the product in question is causing you real grief, go back to your tried-and-tested!
After following the routine dutifully for a month, she saw pretty fantastic improvements in her skin across the board: fewer breakouts, more even tone, a legitimate “glow” that was luminous rather than oily, and noticeably lesser bumps and blemishes on her forehead.
[caption id="attachment_38149" align="aligncenter" width="1587"] Image Credit: @estherachel[/caption]If you’re not too sure where to start with new skincare, simply ask a professional who can offer knowledgeable suggestions and prescribe products to help you on your path to healthy and clear skin.

Chanel Is Painting The Town Red With Its New Le Rouge Beauty Pop-Up This October
Whether the holiday warrants formal social gatherings or a friends-only dim sum feast, there’s truly no better time to swipe on a crimson lipstick.
To many of us, red represents the colour of love and passion. But not to forget, red is also the colour of life for Gabrielle Chanel herself.
CHANEL presents LE ROUGE, that’s scheduled to open in Singapore from 17 – 21 October. This exclusive beauty pop-up will consist of three showrooms, each unveiling the creative process behind a particular product.
[caption id="attachment_37709" align="aligncenter" width="2200"] Image Credit: CHANEL[/caption]The House of CHANEL
In 1924, she turned an intense vermillion red into her first signature lipstick which was a symbol of courage and passion. What better way to pay homage to the brand’s iconic colour than a pop-up store dedicated to exploring red in a myriad of textures and forms.
[caption id="attachment_37709" align="aligncenter" width="2200"] Image Credit: CHANEL[/caption]In conjunction with the new Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme and Rouge Allure Liquid Power – the French fashion house will be launching its third pop-up concept in Singapore.
That being said, the LE ROUGE pop up will feature its very own Red Factory where you can expect an infinite array of lipstick and nail polishes. Beauty lovers can see and play around with the brand’s iconic red makeup and learn more about the process behind the creation of your favourite Chanel makeup.
Perfect for the gram, there are plenty of IG-worthy photo opportunities such as large industrial tanks filled with lipsticks, nail polishes in an acrylic red cage and a wall of lips that hides a passageway coloured in red.
[caption id="attachment_37716" align="aligncenter" width="1726"] Image Credit: CHANEL[/caption]Be one of the first few to discover and own the coveted red edition of Chanel N°5 L’Eau and N°5 Eau De Parfum, which will be exclusively pre-launched at the pop-up. The iconic N°5 bottles will be swapping its usual clear flacon to a crimson hue. You definitely won’t want to miss out on this!
Guests are also treated to the sight of the Red Bar, reminiscent of a covert lounge. Spritz some of the limited red edition Chanel N°5 on yourself before sipping on a red cocktail specially concocted for this event.
[caption id="attachment_37708" align="aligncenter" width="2200"] Red Bar | Image Credit: CHANEL[/caption]So save the date and make sure to swing by CHANEL LE ROUGE pop-up store for an experience like never before. The pop-up will open to public from 17 – 21 October, so it’s best to register your attendance here to secure yourself a slot into the store.
Calling all Chanel fans, swipe on your best red lipstick and paint your nails red this October. It’s what Coco Chanel would have wanted.

Sephora Opens At Causeway Point On 21 Sep – First 100 In Line To Get $100 Gift Vouchers
Time and time again, Woodlands has always been the butt of all jokes.
All through life, they’ve battled jokes about “being in Malaysia” and lived day to day standing in the train until it reaches their stop (because weirdly, everyone gets off at Woodlands). Yet, you never hear them complaining about their daily struggles.
Well, their resilience is about to pay off. In an unprecedented move, Sephora Singapore has announced the opening of a new outlet at Causeway Point on 21 September 2018.
[caption id="attachment_37310" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: Sephora Facebook[/caption]Now all you Woodlanders got something to be proud of again.
It’s about time we make Woodlands cool again.
Beauty Junkies Rejoice
The outlet marks the first Sephora in the North. Which means north siders no longer have to travel all the way to ION Orchard to restock their beauty supplies.
This outlet will stock the beauty retailer’s full selection of of beauty brands: Too Faced, Fenty Beauty, the newly released Huda Beauty and more!
[caption id="attachment_37313" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: Sephora Facebook[/caption]And on the day of their opening from 12pm, Sephora will be giving away $100 Gift Vouchers to the first 100 in line, as will the first 50 Gold Card Members in the VIP Priority queue.
Here’s how you can get the vouchers:
[caption id="attachment_37312" align="aligncenter" width="718"] Image Credit: Sephora[/caption]- Make sure you are the first 100 people queuing at the launch of Sephora Causeway Point on 21 September 2018
- At 11am, Sephora promotional team members will be giving out a Sephora branded wrist brand, numbered 1 to 100
- Each person is strictly entitled to one gift voucher and one transaction with aforementioned voucher
We do recommend heading down way before 11am, because let’s be real. People will start queuing once Causeway Point opens.
If you don’t fancy the idea of waiting in line, the next 100 in queue (No. 101 – 200) will receive a $30 Gift Voucher, whereas the remaining 250 in-line (No. 201 to 450) will receive a Goodie Bag.
All Sephora Gold Card Members will also enjoy an exclusive priority queue from 12pm to 2pm on the day itself.
Beauty junkies can also look forward to a street party weekend. From 21 – 23 September 2018, the atrium of Causeway Point will be turned into a beauty haven of makeup and skincare booths, beauty workshops, and an all-you-can-grab beauty ball pit.
Come prepared as it’s bound to be madness.

Finding The Perfect Perfume Is Tough, So I Crafted My Own At This Workshop
It’s kind of crazy how certain scents can instantly evoke memories you’d completely forgotten about.
The smell of warm chocolate cookies can transport you to that night you slept underneath the Christmas tree because your dad told you Santa and his reindeers will show up. Sunscreen and coconut oil can remind you of sunny days in Bali. And Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin cologne might make you recall your ex-boyfriend’s….mom?
There is a plethora of brands out there offering fragrances but the downside is there’s always the chance you may end up wearing the same scent as someone else–especially if you wear a classic fragrance like Chanel No. 5.
This is where Oo La Lab comes in. Established in 2016, this fragrance lab allows you to customise your fragrance with a mixologist to come up with your ideal perfume – from picking all the notes to choosing a name.
[caption id="attachment_36464" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]Craft Your Own Scent
You’ll smell it before you see Oo La Lab’s workshop, their counters are lined with bottles of essential oils and perfumes. Located in Delta House, Oo La Lab lets you customise your own fragrance in a 60-minute perfume making session ($88/pax, $176/two pax).
Starting with a quick theory lesson on the Oo Fragrance Table which has a total of 25 core scent and 2 complex scent available, we set out to start our perfume making process.
[caption id="attachment_36462" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] 25 eau da parfum core scents | Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]The first step required us to take a whiff of every scent and narrow down our favourite ones. The scents were split up to 3 different categories (bottom, middle, top notes).
Now, if you’re like me and you suffer from the butter finger syndrome, you’ll find yourself fumbling with the glass beakers, funnels and the bottles.
Please don’t break anything. Please don’t break anything. PLEASE don’t break anything.
[caption id="attachment_36461" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]The entire set up felt like a complete throwback to chemistry lessons in secondary school. All that’s left was a lab coat, goggles and gloves to complete my look.
While I was halfway through smelling the different scents, I started getting a little giddy or perhaps high from all the different smells. The lab also carries “edible” scents such as Vanilla and Gourmande which honestly got my tummy rumbling. The aromas were so sweet that I was almost tempted to taste them. They also carry a limited edition synthetic scent called “Chocolate” which will remind you of a chocolate fondue.
From Fresh and Floral notes to deeper Oriental and Wood fragrances, I had a tough time picking out the scents that would fit my personality.
[caption id="attachment_36470" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]Once I’ve decided on my scents, it was time to do the math.
I was allowed a total of 20 drops for each round (there are 2 rounds), which must include 10 drops of bottom and 10 drops of middle and top notes (5 from middle, 5 from top).
[caption id="attachment_36463" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]Here’s the slightly tedious part: Mark down the scents that you want to combine and decide how many drops of each scent will go into your trial mixture.
This requires quite a bit of trial and error because you don’t want to leave the workshop smelling like a Funfetti Cake or the Amazon Rainforest.
Now here’s where you get to feel like a chemist.
Based on your prior selection, it was time to translate 20 drops into 20ml which is the amount needed to fill your perfume bottles! This step was important because an extra drop might change the entire formula of your perfume.
[caption id="attachment_36466" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]The mixture in the bottle will then be iodised and topped up with alcohol, before being professionally sealed with a spray nozzle and cap. To make it even more personalised, you can name your perfume.
Once that’s done, you’ll receive your 20ml eau de parfum packaged nicely in plastic wrappers with a card indicating your mixture so you can re-order on the website if you ever run out!
[caption id="attachment_36469" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Final Product | Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]If you’re ever looking at doing something out of the ordinary in Singapore, this workshop is perfect for a date or even as a birthday gift. You’d be surprised to find out how everyone’s preferences are so different. Who knows, you might just be able to recreate a perfume you love.

15 Best Stalls To Visit At Twilight: Flea & Feast – Indoor Bazaar With All-S’porean Food, Clothes And Crafts
Did you hear? The highly anticipated Twilight: Flea and Feast is back again for it’s third edition! If you missed out on #TWILIGHT18 earlier on in February, don’t fret. From 3 – 5 August, make your way down to the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre for a day of browsing through dozens of flea stalls, free movie screenings and of course, sinking your teeth in tasty eats!
This indoor bazaar houses over 100 stalls selling popular street food, clothes, accessories and handmade crafts. This time round, you guys are in for a real treat as you’ll find more than 50 F&B vendors – you probably won’t know where to start!
For the first time since its inception, all vendors showcased at the event will be local. Which is why this year’s edition of TWILIGHT will be themed “Proudly Local” so both vendors and visitors get to celebrate everything we love and remember about Singapore.
To help you out with your upcoming shopping and gastronomic adventure, we’ve listed out some of our favourite makan and shopping vendors that you HAVE to visit!
What To Makan
1. Saiko
Think of Saiko as the elevated version of your typical pasar malam takoyaki joint!
Serving up Japanese street food realness, Saiko serves takoyaki in sizeable portions with full bite-sized fillings. You can choose from 3 different fillings – octopus, chicken and braised mushrooms. You also have the option of mixing 2 different fillings in one serving.
[caption id="attachment_36276" align="aligncenter" width="3807"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]Other selections include Classic, Dashi (takoyaki with dashi broth, bonito flakes and scallions) and Miso (takoyaki with miso butter and rice krispies). Top it all off with a perfectly cooked onsen egg for just an additional $2!
We promise you that the takoyaki from Saiko won’t disappoint!
2. Burgernomics
Burgernomics got everyone raving over them when they first opened at Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre. They aim to differentiate themselves by keeping their burgers honest and simple, but with a distinctive Asian twist.
[caption id="attachment_36277" align="aligncenter" width="1240"] Image Credit: @burgernomics_sg[/caption]This time round, you get to satisfy your burger cravings without having to travel all the way down to Pasir Ris!
We heard that their burgers are really popular at events so head down early to avoid the long queues.
3. Inariku
If you eat, sleep and breathe all things Japanese, then you’re going to love this one.
Trained at the Tokyo Sushi Academy to fortify her passion for Japanese cooking, you can expect her highly raved lobster inari which comes in small sets of 4, ramen, unagi bento and more!
[caption id="attachment_36278" align="aligncenter" width="1680"] Image Credit: @ria897[/caption]We recommend getting her lobster inari which is a combination of lobster and squid salad which sits atop a bed of sushi rice. All these premium ingredients are nestled within some Inariage aka Aburaage (the sweet beancurd pouch) and finished off with some Japanese mayonnaise.
4. O’Braim
O’Braim entered the pasar malam circuit around 2016 selling goreng pisang (banana fritters) with a modern twist.
They sell banana fritters in different flavours, including chocolate and cheese with condensed milk, while using a goreng pisang recipe passed down from their grandmother.
[caption id="attachment_36279" align="aligncenter" width="1254"] Image Credit: @redroselips[/caption]You’ll always find long queues at their stall which also means “confirm plus chop good”.
5. Ikan1986
A must have at every BBQ, their freshly grilled otah is one of the best we’ve had at any pop-up events!
Based on a traditional family recipe dating back to 1986, their staple menu item has fed scores of people ever since.
[caption id="attachment_36280" align="aligncenter" width="1886"] Image Credit: @ikan1986[/caption]Made with fresh mackerel and a select number of equally fresh herbs and spices, their freshly grilled otah remains a delightful way to please the palate and tummy; either as an afternoon snack or part of a meal.
6. Egg Stop
Opening early August 2018 at Paya Lebar Square, you’ll get to try their sandwiches first at Twilight Flea & Feast.
Although we don’t know much about them yet, their sandwiches look like the perfect mid-afternoon snack.
[caption id="attachment_36281" align="aligncenter" width="1256"] Image Credit: @eggstopsg[/caption]Just look at all that filling spilling out of their sandwich. We don’t know about you, but we’re definitely excited to try this one out!
7. Katoshka
Katoshka needs no introduction from us. They’re seen at almost every bazaar/pop-up events that they’re pretty much a household name by now.
They go by a very simple concept: good ol’ fries served in cups laden in different sauces, from special cheese, sour ranch, chilli beef and sambal cheese.
[caption id="attachment_36282" align="aligncenter" width="1254"] Image Credit: @thekatoshka[/caption]If you love their fries as much as we do, then go get yourself a cup (or two) at Twilight!
8. Naughty Boyz
Known for their spicy mac and cheese, this is the perfect meal for sharing.
[caption id="attachment_36283" align="aligncenter" width="1786"] Image Credit: @naughtyboyz_[/caption]Their mac and cheese is bound to be a gooey delight. I mean, who doesn’t like cheese?
9. BOO:EH
BOO:EH serves up inspired butterbeer like the ones you see in Harry Potter World. This homemade brew consists of 2 parts – soothing liquid gold and dreamy butterscotch foam.
[caption id="attachment_36284" align="aligncenter" width="1032"] Image Credit: @boo.eh[/caption]The flavour is so rejuvenating and unique that it transports you to a magical world at the first sip.

Men In S’pore Blessed With Facial Hair, Here’s Where You Can Groom It For Under $30
For the gifted few men in our society that have the capacity to grow a full beard, this one is for you. In the recent decade, we’ve had many metrosexuals and “gentlemen” popping up.
I don’t mean “gentlemen” sarcastically. I’m referring to the term that dapper men who groom themselves with a fervent passion, use to address themselves and others like them.
[caption id="attachment_35746" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Image Credit: Pinterest[/caption]You know, men like that.
Along with the emergence of this particular group of people, there have been modern barbershops appearing all over the island, catered specifically for men’s grooming.
However, not all are good and they’re always rather pricey, depending on the size of your beard. So we’ve compiled a short list of tried and tested barbershops that are affordable and good.
Grooming Is A Basic Human Right
1. We Need A Hero
We Need A Hero (cue song), is a grooming centre that provides haircuts, beard trimming, brow grooming, and even waxing services.
[caption id="attachment_35747" align="aligncenter" width="2048"] Image Credit: We Need A Hero[/caption]The name comes from their belief that there is a hero, buried within every man – he just needs proper grooming to emerge.

Paul’s Barbershop is a humble barbershop in Bedok offering haircuts and beard trimming services.
A haircut will set you back $20, while a haircut and beard trimming session will cost $25.
There has been issues with inconsistency in the quality of the haircuts in the past few months, but haircuts are usually good.

That’s extremely affordable to be honest. For a solid beard sculpt at just $10, it’s hard to beat.

4. Barber Point
Barber Point might seem like another random neighbourhood barbershop, with no social media or website, but don’t let that fool you.
[caption id="attachment_35752" align="aligncenter" width="435"] Image Credit: HDB[/caption]Because it really doesn’t have any social media or website.
All we know is that the haircuts only cost $15. So a beard trim wouldn’t be that far off. In fact, it might be even less.
If you’re expecting young, dapper men, the barbers here are all veteran barbers who know their stuff.
Sometimes, you just need a good and simple, unpretentious haircut to look good.

5. The Black Tie Barbershop
The Black Tie Barbershop is by far the most proper barbershop on this list. The barbers are dressed to the nines, in formal shoes, pants, suspenders, and a combover so smooth you’d slip.

ColourPop Lippie Stix ($4.50, U.P. $9)
When it comes to affordable lip sticks, ColourPop comes into mind. This brand exploded all over social media in 2015 and for a good reason – they offer pigmented products at affordable prices.
[caption id="attachment_35302" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Image Credit: BeLive[/caption]The Lippie Stix reminds me of those twistable crayons we all used to love and went crazy over in primary school. So if you have kids, maybe keep this one away from them in case they plan on using it for their next art piece.

Tarte Glow To Go Palette ($17.50, U.P. $35)
We can all agree that a little bit of glow goes a long way.
Our goal in life is to blind everyone else with our highlight and what better way to do that than with Tarte’s Glow To Go Palette. It’s a compact trio housed in a slim, black cardboard palette with a velvety feel on the outside. This palette includes two highlighters and one contour powder.

There’s no way you can get a highlight palette at $17.50 in this economy. So if you’re a highlight queen, this is your MUST-HAVE makeup item.

Best part, the live stream will continue playing in the background as the influencer continues explaining the product to you.

Say Yes To The Dress – A Guide To Picking Out The Perfect Dress For Your Bridesmaids
Now that you’ve said yes to the dress of your dream, it’s time to start on your next gown shopping journey: the quest for the perfect bridesmaid dress.
Finding the “perfect” bridesmaid dress that looks good on everyone in your bridal party, sort of never happens.
We understand the struggle of finding THE bridesmaid dress to match the entire bridal party, but it doesn’t always have to be this tough.
[caption id="attachment_34824" align="aligncenter" width="509"] GIF Credit: giphy.com[/caption]No matter your wedding style or size of your bridal party, we’ve got everything you need to know to find the right dress for your girls.
Here’s our tip on how to make bridesmaid dress shopping a breeze.
Begin By Browsing
Start of by doing some research. Browse through wedding lookbooks, bookmark your favourites and share them with your friends. Who knows, they might just give you the best advices.
If you’re flipping through magazines or browsing online, tear out pages or save images to your inspiration board to help zero in on the colours and styles you like best.
Find physical or even online stores that carry the dresses you love.
Keep Costs In Mind
Unless you’re paying for your bridesmaid dresses, then you’ll have to be considerate of your friends’ lifestyles.
If you’re concerned your wedding might be a financial burden for one or more of your bridesmaids, focus your search on dresses in a more affordable range.
Love, Bonito’s LYLAS Bridesmaid Collection creates dresses that are curated from quality fabrics at price points that are wallet-friendly. Prices start from as low as SGD$36.90 for a top and SGD$63.90 for a maxi dress.
[caption id="attachment_34818" align="aligncenter" width="4150"] Image Credit: Love, Bonito[/caption]Best part, the collection are suited for formal and semi-formal occasions so your bridesmaids can recycle their outfits once the wedding is over.
Finding The Right Fit
We can all agree that one feels most confident in the clothes that make them look and feel good.
Never trust “Free Size” or “One Size Fits All” dresses because we know that’s not how our bodies are designed.
It’s important to dress to your body type in order to bring focus to the part where you want to accentuate and divert attention away from parts you do not.
[caption id="attachment_34821" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Love, Bonito[/caption]For all my thick girls out there, you know how exhausting online shopping can get. Finding a dress to fit you in all the right places can be almost impossible. However, the LYLAS collection expanded their size range from XXS to XXL, so they’ve got all the best friends covered.
Take Note Of Different Styles
Not everyone has a similar taste in style. Some of your friends may dress more androgynous than feminine.
If you have friends who prefer pantsuits to midi skirts, no problem. The LYLAS collection is designed for bridesmaid to mix-and-match — with separate coordinates that pair well in any combination.
Even if there is one bridesmaid wearing an “odd-one-out” pantsuit with a lace top amongst the other midi dress, they’ll still look cohesive as a power-packed bridal party. Talk about having your very own Spice Girls at your wedding.
[caption id="attachment_34819" align="aligncenter" width="3840"] Image Credit: Love, Bonito[/caption]Find Complementary Colours
Let’s be honest, not all of us are suited for pink, blush or baby blue. Think about choosing a shade that goes well with a variety of skin tones.
If you have a wedding theme that includes specific colours, then bridesmaid dress colours will be pretty easy to pick.
If your colour options are more open, you can go with a shade that will flatter your wedding gown or complement your flower choices. You can also choose colours that reflect the year’s wedding trends.
Designed to allow the flexibility of the bride to choose and pick her colour palette, the LYLAS collection currently offers six key colours (and counting)!
The new May 2018 Launch will introduce three new colours to the current palette of Blush, Lavender and Navy:
Dusty Blue
This colour signifies femininity reworked. The hint of grey elevates the blue with a modern edge.
[caption id="attachment_34822" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Love, Bonito[/caption]Mauve
An understated yet sensual colour which ignites a sense of romance with an elegant touch.
[caption id="attachment_34820" align="aligncenter" width="3769"] Image Credit: Love, Bonito[/caption]Maroon
This is definitely one of our favourite colours. Maroon screams sophistication, passion and power.
[caption id="attachment_34823" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Love, Bonito[/caption]The theme for LYLAS May 2018 Collection is “A Celebration Of Sisterhood”. So if you want your girls to turn up at your wedding looking hotter than Taylor Swift’s Squad, Love, Bonito’s LYLAS Bridesmaid Collection is the one stop place for all your bridesmaid needs.
[caption id="attachment_34825" align="aligncenter" width="401"] GIF Credit: giphy.com[/caption]This stunning collection will be available online from 31 May 2018 onwards so hurry and get your hands on their beautiful designs.
Whatever style and/or colour you envision your bridal squad wearing, we’re sure you’ll find it at Love, Bonito.
With that, happy shopping!

Artbox 2018: What To Eat, Drink And Buy To Make The Most Of Your Money
It’s that time of the year again! Artbox Singapore is back for its second run, and promises to be bigger and better than before.
If you’ve been to Artbox last year, you may have left severely disappointed as the event faced an overwhelming turnout. If you’re unfamiliar with the event, it is a wildly popular market that supports local creators retailing everything from beauty, fashion, food and art.
Originating from Bangkok, Artbox Singapore recreates the vibrancy of Thai night markets, but you wouldn’t need a flight ticket this time.
So if you’ve got a bae and some friends, head down to Artbox Singapore which spans over two weekends from 25-27 May 2018 as well as 1-3 June 2018 from 3-11 pm at the Bayfront Event Space near The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
Food At Artbox Singapore 2018
If you saw the insta-worthy food pics from last year, you’ll know that food is the main highlight of the event. Dive into over 160 bustling F&B stalls each weekend for a wide variety of food to choose from.
Here’s what we got that definitely got DiscoverSG’s stamp of approval. Now, the food at Artbox is not Thai-Night-Market-Cheap but we tried out food that’s worth your money and not overly pretentious.
1. Golden Moments
I’m a huge fan of durian. I’m not being biased but this is definitely one of THE best Mao Shan Wang Ice Cream ($9.90) I’ve tried in Singapore.
Just look at it!
[caption id="attachment_34752" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]The bamboo charcoal infused ice cream has a subtle hint of MSW flavour. It is bittersweet and creamy and topped with 24K gold leaves.
I expected it to be jelak after a few bites but I surprisingly managed to devour the entire durian ice cream without feeling sick or heaty. If you’re not a huge durian lover, this ice cream might just change your mind.
It was slightly pricey for what is essentially durian ice cream, but it is definitely worth trying.
This limited edition ice cream is making its first appearance at this year’s Artbox, so if you know anyone who loves durian, you HAVE to bring them here.
If the ice cream is not enough, you can also try their Durian Platter ($18.80) which consists of durian mochi, durian puffs and the ice cream.
[caption id="attachment_34753" align="aligncenter" width="2560"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]If you’re in need of a good dessert, then Golden Moments is a must visit at this year’s Artbox.
2. Saiko
Don’t you just hate it when you buy takoyaki at a pasar malam and you can barely taste the octopus in it?
Serving up Japanese street food realness, Saiko serves takoyaki in sizeable portions with full bite-sized octopus. You can choose from 3 different fillings – octopus, chicken and braised mushrooms. You also have the option of mixing 2 different fillings in one serving.
[caption id="attachment_34760" align="aligncenter" width="4029"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]We got their Classic ($8) which comes with 6 takoyaki topped with bonito flakes, seaweed and torched Japanese mayo.
[caption id="attachment_34759" align="aligncenter" width="3807"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]This was hands down one of the best Takoyaki I’ve had in a very long time. It’s also the perfect bite-sized snack as you walk around Artbox.
3. Cha Tra Mue
When in Thailand, always get their Thai Milk Tea!
The weather was scorching hot and we were in desperate need of a good drink. We walked around and came across a stall selling the famous Cha Tra Mue brand teas.
[caption id="attachment_34761" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]You no longer have to ask your friends to buy you a packet of instant Cha Tra Mue from Thailand because its readily available at most bazaars and festivals in Singapore.
We recommend getting the 1-litre Thai Milk Tea ($4) because it is an absolute life saver in Singapore’s crazy weather. 10/10 would buy again!
4. The6ixsRosti
I was surprised to find a stall specialising in rosti at Artbox. I had high hopes for this one as I saw a queue forming at The6ixsRosti.
Being the typical kiasu Singaporean that I am, I knew I had to try this rosti.
[caption id="attachment_34763" align="aligncenter" width="3589"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]We opted for the Spicy Rosti with Mozarella Cheese ($7) – perhaps one of my favourite purchases of the day.
[caption id="attachment_34762" align="aligncenter" width="3845"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]The rosti is pan fried to perfection. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The spicy rosti actually had quite a kick to it, so if you can handle your spice, opt for the spicy rosti.
5. Thai Foodie Palace SG
I knew I couldn’t leave Artbox without getting any Thai Desserts. Just like any other basic Singaporean, I knew I couldn’t leave without trying the Mango Sticky Rice.
The cheapest Mango Sticky Rice I could find at Artbox was from Foodie Palace SG which sold a box for $6.
[caption id="attachment_34758" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]I never thought I would ever have to pay $6 for mango sticky rice, but I can’t complain. Their mango sticky rice turned out to be pretty good. The mango was sweet and they gave us a generous portion of sticky rice as well.
[caption id="attachment_34757" align="aligncenter" width="4032"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]Safe to say, we wiped the entire box clean. It was the perfect ending to my food hunt at Artbox.
Cheap Cheap, Good Good
Besides the food, you can also explore more than 200 retail booths! Each weekend brings forth a different set of unique and creative lifestyle and fashion vendors from Thailand and Singapore.
6. Oasis:Skin
If you’re in need of a good skincare routine, Oasis:Skin is an all-natural skincare company that believes in delivering high quality plant-based products that can help people rebuild their skin barrier in a natural way.
[caption id="attachment_34768" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]They use 100% natural and high-quality ingredients that are carefully sourced from artisanal producers and botanical experts from all over the world.
If your skin is in need of some desperate TLC, then you should try out their face mists. They have several face mists that targets dry skin, oily skin and even sensitive skin!
[caption id="attachment_34770" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]They also sell clay masks for those “treat yo’self” kind of days. The masks are packaged in its pure clay form as it has a longer shelf life, and there is no need for any harmful chemicals to preserve it.
[caption id="attachment_34769" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]7. Common Touch
If you’re looking for unique and quirky pieces to place around the house, then you’ll love the ceramics by Common Touch.
[caption id="attachment_34767" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]Common Touch is a Singapore-based craft unit working together to create distinctive and purely handcrafted ceramic homeware. From different types of clay and combination of stains and glazes, each piece is hand-thrown and individually crafted.
[caption id="attachment_34764" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]You can also get hand-made jewellery at this store. If you know anyone who is a fan of minimal jewellery, then you should definitely check out Common Touch at Artbox!
[caption id="attachment_34766" align="aligncenter" width="1280"] Image Credit: Discover SG[/caption]You can also find plenty of stalls around Artbox selling everything from tops and pants to tote bags and leather wallets. What’s more, you can pay by DBS PayLah! at most stalls so you don’t have to worry about running out of cash after all that shopping!
This year’s Artbox definitely did not disappoint. With a variety of retail booths and F&B stalls to choose from, there’s definitely something for everyone here.
Pro-tip: Carry and umbrella and wear comfortable clothes because our weather is extremely unpredictable!
