This Cafe Created A Diner-Themed Dessert Menu, And Our Eyes Are Confused
If you’ve ever wished you could switch out all the food on your dinner plate for something sweeter (basically, dessert for dinner), there’s a cafe in Singapore where you can do just that; that is, seem like you’re having a sensible meal, but in fact be enjoying dessert.
Nestled in Lorong Kilat, this place serves up typical diner-style food – except, the foods here aren’t what they seem.
[caption id="attachment_29341" align="aligncenter" width="890"] Image Credit: Cake Avenue[/caption]A spot called “Cake Avenue“, its name should be the first clue that you’re not in for a regular meal of burger and fries.
Look closer and you’ll find burger buns that are actually made of cake, soup that’s made of jelly, salsa that’s made of strawberry compote… You have to see it to believe it.
A Diner-themed Dessert Menu
Cake Avenue has released a new diner-themed dessert menu, and if you’re a sweet tooth, you’ll love all 6 new menu offerings they’re plating up.
First up is the classic burger and fries combo – or rather, its dessert twin.
[caption id="attachment_29331" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Image Credit: Cake Avenue[/caption]Instead of burger buns sandwiching a beef patty, what you’re seeing here is a dark chocolate ice cream “patty” sandwiched by vanilla butter cake “burger buns”. The vibrantly coloured “mustard” is passionfruit purée, and raspberry purée serves as the “ketchup”.
For sides, you get “fries”, which comprise more vanilla cake.
[caption id="attachment_29332" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Image Credit: Cake Avenue[/caption]Dessert nachos – bad idea or totally genius? Decide for yourself!
This dish of nachos contains flatbread nachos topped with strawberry compote “salsa”, chocolate mousse “refried beans”, julienned peach “cheese” and pistachio ice cream “guacamole”.
[caption id="attachment_29333" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Image Credit: Cake Avenue[/caption]Now, this is a dish we find quite intriguing.
A simple bowl of Alphabet Soup, scoop into it and you’ll find that beneath the rose jelly “tomato broth” is a lychee mousse with lychee and raspberry. If you’re wondering if the “alphabets” are actually alphabet pasta, think again – the people at Cake Avenue went all out, crafting the alphabets out of sweet milk agar.
More Unicorn Food
If there’s one foodie trend that seems to be powering on, it has to be unicorn food.
[caption id="attachment_29336" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Image Credit: Cake Avenue[/caption]Pretty to look at and super Instagrammable, Cake Avenue has created a range of unicorn-themed shakes that come complete with ears and a horn!
In pastel hues of yellow, pink, and green, take your pick from mango, strawberry and matcha flavours respectively!
Raring to try these inventive creations? So are we! Unfortunately, these new desserts will only be available from 1 September onwards, so we’ll all have to wait for just a bit before we can get our hands on these adorable treats.

8 Corny Pick Up Lines To Use On That Cutie You Spot On Your Next Fun Run
In the past couple of years, we’ve seen many a run grace our little island.
We’ve seen just about everything, from character-themed runs (Pokemon run, Hello Kitty Run, Star Wars Run), to festival-inspired runs (The Music Run, The Color Run), to some… pretty strange runs. Teh Tarik Run, I’m looking at you.
Clearly, Singaporeans love their runs, and with so many different themes to choose from, a boring 5K or 10K can become a lot more exciting – especially with a fun run pack and a nice T-shirt thrown in.
While runs like these offer calorie-burning benefits and all the novelty that comes with the themes, one other benefit of going for these runs is to meet new people – specifically, people of the opposite sex. As they say, love can blossom in strange places, so who are we to stand in its way?
The next time you go for a fun run, save these 8 pick-up lines to use on that cutie you spot running nearby.

This Smart Hotel Makes Staycations Cooler With Automated Check-In And ‘Transformer’ Beds
We’ve heard of Smartphones, smart watches… but have you heard of a smart hotel?
Yotel is another hotel to join the smart hotel scene in Singapore. With 6 locations across Europe and USA, this London-based hotel chain will be opening in Singapore very soon – first, at Orchard Road this year, and then at Jewel Changi Airport in 2018.
Recognisable by its signature futuristic purple lighting, Yotel is a micro-hotel inspired by first class travel. That is, the rooms – or ‘cabins’, as they call it at Yotel – contain elements reminiscent of a first class suite on an airline. If you’ve never flown first class, staying in one of these cabins will give you a glimpse of the experience, minus the hefty price tag.
What’s Smart About This Hotel
1. Smart Check-in
How do you make a hotel smart?
For starters, you automate certain processes.
[caption id="attachment_29207" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Smart Check-in at Yotel New York (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]Checking in at this hotel is fuss-free – and people-free. All you have to do is check in at one of their check-in kiosks. You can even use their mobile concierge app ‘SHAGGY’ for easy self check-in!
That said, don’t worry about getting no service during your stay at Yotel. With 24/7 mission control (i.e reception desk), there will always be a team on standby to assist you with whatever you need.
2. Smart Beds
Smart beds are another big part of Yotel’s charm.
[caption id="attachment_29208" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Image Credit: Yotel[/caption]A bed that transforms, these adjustable beds provide comfortable and variable postures, whether you’re in the mood to read, work, or just watch TV.
With a Serta mattress designed exclusively to work with Yotel’s automated ‘gliding’ bed mechanism, the SmartBed can go from a flat bed to a sofa with the mere touch of a button!
3. Super Fast Wifi
What’s a smart hotel without amazing wifi? Yotel promises “Free Super Fast Wifi”, so you’ll have no problem getting wifi on all your devices, whether you’re in your cabin, chilling at the pool deck/terrace, or are at any public space within Yotel’s premises.
Aside from the smart features, Yotel also boasts a fully equipped gym that’s open 24/7, and a pool deck and terrace for you to chill at!

Premium Queen
Planning a staycay with your beau? Take your pick between the Premium Queen, Premium Queen View, and Premium Queen View Deck.
The three are similar, coming equipped with a queen sized SmartBed, a Technowall with mood lighting and a 40” HD smart TV, a Rain shower, as well as all your other standard hotel amenities.
The main difference between the 3 is that the Premium Queen View Deck comes with both stunning views and a nice balcony, the Premium Queen View comes with a view, and the Premium Queen comes with neither, being the most basic of the three.
[caption id="attachment_29202" align="alignnone" width="1310"] Premium Queen View Deck (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]Premium Queen With Bunk
Travelling with a child in tow, or got a third-wheeler among you? Opt for the Premium Queen with Bunk, which comes with a queen sized bed and an additional bunk bed.
Once again, there is the option to go with a room with a view or a room without one. The amenities are essentially the same as the other Premium Queen rooms, with the exception of the extra bunk bed.
[caption id="attachment_29203" align="alignnone" width="1310"] Premium Queen View With Bunk (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]King Deck
Got a party of three but want to live like kings and queens? This room will be perfect for your needs.
It comes with a king sized bed, unbeatable views of the city, a balcony, and all the other stuff you get in the previous rooms, including a Technowall with mood lighting and a 40” HD smart TV, and a Rain shower.
[caption id="attachment_29204" align="alignnone" width="1310"] King Deck (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]VIP View Suite
And finally, the best for the last.
[caption id="attachment_29215" align="alignnone" width="1310"] VIP View Suite (Image Credit: Yotel)[/caption]Situated on the top floor, the VIP Suite is the most luxurious cabin at Yotel. Suitable for a party of 4, aside from the features you’ll find in all the previous rooms, a sick view and a balcony, you get a kitchenette, a dining room, a living room, an extra large bathroom, a king sized bed and a queen sofa bed, and 2 smart TVs – one 40″ and one 55″.

KFC Just Released A Double Steamed Chicken Burger And We Hope To God They’re Trolling Us
If it’s not already obvious, Singaporeans LOVE their fast food.
Last month, Singaporeans went Nasi Lemak Burger-crazy when McDonald’s released the limited edition burger. In fact, Singaporeans loved it so much that McDonald’s sold out of these local-inspired burgers in less than 2 weeks!
Clearly, we take our fast food very seriously.
The New Burger In Town
Recently, KFC released a teaser image on its Facebook page – the silhouette of a burger.
The image was simply captioned “Are you down for a new version of an all-time favourite?”
Netizens quickly began speculating, and many of them guessed that this signified the return of the all meat, no bun Zinger Double Down Burger.
[caption id="attachment_29127" align="aligncenter" width="540"] Image Credit:What… The… Hell… Right?
Similar, and yet very much unlike the beloved Zinger Double Down Burger, the Double Steamed Chicken Burger comprises two steamed chicken fillets, sauerkraut coleslaw, spicy pickled cucumber and sambal honey sauce.
This news was (understandably) met with fury from fans of KFC, with commenters being quick to remind the fast food chain what the F in its name stood for; “fried” chicken is what KFC is known for, not, well, steamed chicken.
Is KFC Trolling Us All?
Of course, there is a shred hope that this is all just a joke and that KFC is just trolling us all – at least, that’s what we hope is going on here.
What do you guys think? Is this a joke? Is KFC for real? Let us know in the comments!

These Pretty Pink Drinks Are Bangkok’s Latest Tea Trend, Because Thai Milk Tea Is So 2015
Thai-everything has been a huge hit among Singaporeans in the past couple of years.
With the incredible turnout at Artbox Singapore in March, and with the hype constantly brewing around food and drink trends coming out of the country, Singaporeans’ love for all things Thai is plain to see.
[caption id="attachment_29086" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Image Credit: ST-SM[/caption]If you’re a fan of Thai milk tea, Cha Tra Mue is a brand you’ll recognise. You’ve probably seen its logo on tea tins and bags either stowed away on a high shelf, or found sitting out in the open whenever you order some of the delicious orange coloured tea.
A New Tea Trend In Thailand
Cha Tra Mue, which literally translates into ‘Number One Tea’, recently kicked off a brand new tea trend in Thailand – a rose tea drink, which is tea brewed from rose petals.
The tea brand has released 3 spins on the fragrant floral tea.
These teas come in pretty hues of pink and are served in plastic cups with a romantic floral design that perfectly complements the drink. Super Insta-worthy, you’ll want to get plenty of fun shots of your drink before you start downing these.
[caption id="attachment_29083" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Image Credit: @kitch.neo[/caption]The Rose Milk Tea is the only milk tea of the lot, with a milky pink appearance and the light aroma of rose.
[caption id="attachment_29081" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Rose Milk Tea (Image Credit: Burpple User Zhihui Lim)[/caption]If refreshing is what you’re looking for, you’ll find it in the Lychee Rose Tea, which combines the fragrance of rose with the light sweetness of lychee.
[caption id="attachment_29084" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Lychee Rose Tea (Image Credit: Burpple User Doreen Tan)[/caption]Finally, there is the Honey Rose Tea, which is sweeter than the other two. As with the other drinks, the rose fragrance comes through strongly, making this the perfect cooling drink on a warm day in Singapore’s heat!
Not just a pretty drink, the rose in the tea comes packed with benefits according to Cha Tra Mue. Apparently, some of the benefits of rose include detoxification, laxative effects for those with constipation and weight loss.
Just Our Cup Of Tea

Creamier’s New Ice Cream BEER Floats Takes Alcoholic Ice Cream To A Whole New Level
We’ve all heard of ice cream floats, but have you heard of an ice cream beer float?
It’s exactly as it sounds – a scoop of ice cream plopped into a glass of cold beer.
A marriage of two things we all love – ice cream and booze – that’s exactly what Creamier and Stark Craft Beer are bringing to the table at this year’s Beerfest Asia.
A Perfect Union
[caption id="attachment_28953" align="alignnone" width="4505"] Image Credit: Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream & Coffee[/caption]Huge fans of the ice cream brand (as are we), the guys behind Stark Craft Beer conceived of this unusual pairing on a hot and humid night in North Bali.
Craving a taste of Creamier’s Tahitian Vanilla ice cream to go with some of their freshly-brewed Dark Wheat Beer, they decided to combine the two into one outrageous dessert, and bring it to the masses.
They reached out, Creamier said yes, and now, we get to enjoy 3 inventive floats!
A union of two artisanal, premium brands, both Creamier and Stark Craft Beer use all-natural ingredients, with no preservatives added into their innovative, delicious products.
Beer + Ice Cream Pairings
[caption id="attachment_28954" align="alignnone" width="3084"] Image Credit: Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream & Coffee[/caption]The first beer-ice cream combo is Stark Lychee Ale with Creamier’s Raspberry Love. The ale is fruity, light, with the natural aroma and sweetness of lychee, while the Raspberry Love ice cream is a romantic combination of raspberry berries, rose and sweet cream.
The final result? A taste of summer in a cup that’s light, floral and sweet.
[caption id="attachment_28955" align="alignnone" width="3119"] Image Credit: Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream & Coffee[/caption]The next float flavour on the menu is Stark Indonesian Pale Ale with Creamier’s Sea Salt Gula Melaka. The IPA has a distinct hoppy flavour, is slightly bitter, with a sweet and malty aftertaste. This is paired with Sea Salt Gula Melaka ice cream, which gives you a hit of sweet, but not without a hit of savoury flavour. The two combine into a smooth butter beer.
[caption id="attachment_28957" align="alignnone" width="1665"] Image Credit: Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream & Coffee[/caption]The last drink is one for the chocaholics – the Stark Dark Wheat with Creamier’s Mochaccino. The Dark Wheat beer is thick, malty and chocolatey, with a hint of bitter roasted coffee. The Mochaccino ice cream amps up the chocolate flavour with its blend of chocolate and espresso, giving you a dessert that’s chocolatey, smoky, slightly bitter, and absolutely decadent.
And on to the most important question: How do you enjoy your ice cream beer float? Either sip the beer and eat the ice cream separately, or stir all that goodness together – both ways, you get to enjoy a tasty, delightful dessert.
These ice cream floats will be available at both of Creamier’s outlets at Toa Payoh and at Gillman Barracks. They will also be available at BeerFest 2017 (17 – 20 August) at the Stark Craft Beer booth.
Each float will set you back $14 and will only be available for the month of August. Make a date with Creamier and give these a spin – you’ll wish they weren’t a limited edition treat!
