This S’pore Bar Charges You Based On The Hour – The Earlier You Drink, The Happier Your Wallet
Hey there, Singapore After Nine is back with a new find!
Situated just off Clarke Quay, this new gem is located at the peaceful 11 Keng Cheow Road. For those in the know, Stickies Bar has come to be synonymous with 3 things: food, fun and affordability.
It’s a game cafe, diner and bar, all rolled into one – the Holy Grail for lovers of games, food and booze.
While the merry-making usually begins after dark at most bars, Stickies Bar keeps its fires burning round the clock.
[caption id="attachment_24751" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credits: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]This means you’ve got a good option for lunch, and a place to chill after the sun goes down. Stickies Bar offers great promotions and dishes up some tasty food, so you don’t go hungry in between shots.
We at DiscoverSG popped in to take a look and lo and behold, it was indeed all fun and games at Stickies Bar.
They’ve got game…
It has a pool table that’s open at all hours, which you can play to no end.
[caption id="attachment_24753" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]There’s also a PlayStation 4, with a huge range of games including Mortal Kombat and FIFA 17. The best thing? Stickies Bar doesn’t charge any user fees!
If darts are more up your alley, dart boards are also on the ready.
What’s a game place without some good ol’ party games? Stickies Bar has a shelf packed full of them including Exploding Kittens, Uno-Jenga, Saboteur, and more! If you’re a sucker for the classics, they’ve even got chess!
[caption id="attachment_24754" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]And finally, how can we do without party favourite, Beer Pong?
[caption id="attachment_24755" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]Games aside, we loved how customers could plug their music devices to the speaker system and play their own songs! Blast your favourite tunes and feel right at home with your own jams playing in the background!
Next, we got a taste of what the kitchen had to offer.
What’s for dinner?
1. Appetizer Party Platter (NA)
To start things off, we were served a very special party platter—special because it’s nowhere on the menu. We got to try a mix of cheesy curly fries ($11), popcorn chicken ($11), chicken karaage ($12) and sesame wings ($14).
[caption id="attachment_24756" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]These bites stayed crisp long after they were served and we loved that they didn’t come dripping with oil!
2. Soup of the Day ($4)
The soup of the day when we were there was tomato soup, a rich, tangy soup topped with crisp squares of garlic bread. The tomato flavour was strong, but it was a little too sour for my liking. Then again, if you like your soup with a little more zestiness, this would be it.
[caption id="attachment_24758" align="alignnone" width="2016"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]The soup of the day here is changed up regularly. Some days, they serve the classic mushroom soup, and on other days, they serve a cheesy broccoli soup. As for the others…. We’ll leave you to discover them for yourself!
3. 10-inch 4 Cheese Pizza ($13)
Think you know what a pizza looks like? This thin-crusted wonder will surprise you!
[caption id="attachment_24759" align="alignnone" width="2880"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]Topped with a decadent mix of 4 cheeses–mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar, and nacho cheese–this pizza is a serious game changer. The crust was crisp, and there was (surprisingly!) enough crust to balance out all that cheesy goodness. The cheesy flavours were complemented by the additional top-up of turkey ham, and the pizza came lightly seared.
4. Beef Lasagna ($14)
[caption id="attachment_24761" align="alignnone" width="2016"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]Beef layered between sheets of pasta, bathed in flavourful bolognese sauce… If that sounds good, it tasted even better. As we sliced our forks through the layers of meat and pasta, they came away with stringy strands of cheese. The pasta could have done with a little more resistance, but hey, we all have our preferences. The dish was served with a salad on the side, drizzled with a yummy homemade sesame dressing.
5. Flamélicious Spicy Chicken Quesadilla ($18)
This Flamélicious Spicy Chicken Quesadilla was the highlight of our night!
[caption id="attachment_24762" align="alignnone" width="2016"] Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]Spicier than Stickies Bar’s waitresses, this dish had us gulping down cups of water in between mouthfuls. Sandwiched within a crispy, toasted quesadilla shell was a generous helping of gooey, stringy cheese and fiery chicken pieces, tender and marinated with 3 secret spices.
Thankfully, the shell managed to stay intact despite the substantial fillings inside it, making it a much less messy affair than it could have been.
Food & Drink Promotions at Stickies Bar
Besides the array of games and facilities, Stickies Bar has some sweet deals you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Considering the quality of the grub here, these promos are the real deal.
If you love your drinks, Stickies Bar has got your back…
[caption id="attachment_24773" align="alignnone" width="665"] Image Credit: Image Credit: Image Credit: Image Credit: Image Credit: Chong Yi Sze[/caption]With that, Stickies Bar definitely makes it to our list of go-to places after hours, both on weekends and on weekdays.
Westies, you won’t have to travel all the way to town for your Stickies fix soon enough! The bar will be opening its second outlet at Sunset Way in May. For more updates, be sure to follow them on Instagram!
To many more happy hours,
Singapore After Nine

We Got A Sneak Peak Into The Highly Anticipated Central Perk Singapore – And “OH MY GOD!”
FRIENDS fans your wait is finally over! Singapore’s very own Central Perk has finally opened its doors after months of anticipation. Located along Clarke Quay, we were lucky enough to get a sneak peak!
[caption id="attachment_19134" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Outdoor Patio Area[/caption]Stepping into Central Perk Singapore, the first thing that we noticed is the different ongoing themes. Making our way around this eatery, we found three distinct features; the “outdoor patio” area which has a bit more privacy away from the main storefront. The main dining area is styled exactly like Central Perk itself. And the cafe’s character feature walls feature the most memorable aspects of the characters!
Central Perk Singapore
[caption id="attachment_19125" align="alignnone" width="1000"] “outdoor” seating[/caption]The “outdoor patio” area gives you the “street view” of Central Perk. While this might not be the number one spot you would come to Central Perk Singapore for, it gave us a bit of a thrill standing “outside” the cafe looking in!
[caption id="attachment_19128" align="alignnone" width="1000"] FRIENDS orange couch[/caption]The all too familiar orange couch, we die-hard fans have been wishing to sit on! From the high tables and stools, the light up embellishments and the odd brick walls Central Perk Singapore has gone all out to get every detail from the popular US tv show right. All that’s missing is the famous group of 6 to make this set exactly that of FRIENDS. The team behind Central Perk Singapore injected their own local twist by showcasing a Singapore featured artwork displayed against the back wall.
[caption id="attachment_19124" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Central Perk’s bar area[/caption]Unfortunately, Central Perk Singapore does not have a Gunther just yet, but the bar area looks pretty identical with its onscreen counterpart. Complete with the gold plated coffee machine featured in the show!
[caption id="attachment_19130" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Central Perk’s “store front”[/caption]The backdrop of most of Phoebe’s performances, they’ve even set up a little performance area complete with keyboard and standing microphones.
Character Feature Walls
[caption id="attachment_19133" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Monica’s apartment[/caption]A MUST SEE feature at Central Perk Singapore has to be the cafe’s Character Feature Walls. Step into a replica of Monica’s kitchen from the blue shelves and Chandler’s number one enemy, the Ms Pac Man machine (yes it works)!
[caption id="attachment_19135" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Phoebe’s feature wall[/caption]Say hi to smelly cat and Gladys as you stroll pass Phoebe’s featured wall, complete with scatterings of potpourri and her guitar her featured wall is all about Phoebe’s boho and hippy vibe.
[caption id="attachment_19126" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Chandler and Joey’s apartment[/caption]Play a quick game of foosball with your friends alongside the chick, duck and the cabinet Joey (willingly) locked himself in. Central Perk Singapore doesn’t skip the details, take a quick peek at Chandler’s door, there’s a huge cut where the “power saw kinda got away” from Joey.
Come For The Atmosphere, Stay For The Food
[caption id="attachment_19127" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Oversized Central Perk mugs[/caption]Let’s be honest, what’s Central Perk without a coffee? Here at Central Perk Singapore, they serve up six different coffee blends. Each coffee roasts is characterised after each of the main characters. Not much of a coffee fan? Get a cup of the Rachel. With a light roast, body, acidity and hints of berries this roast is perfect for those who prefer their coffee sweet. Served in Central Perk’s “traditional” oversized mugs, the coffee here is the perfect companion to your leisurely Saturday afternoon.
Not a coffee drinker? Don’t fret because Central Perk Singapore has a menu that will have you drooling! Named after the characters and their many escapades ( Monica’s Lasagna and “Joey’s Special” 2 Pizzas are just some examples), we had to try Ross’ Thanksgiving Sandwich aka The Moist Maker.
The Moist Maker
[caption id="attachment_19136" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Ross’ Thanksgiving Sandwich[/caption]Unlike the Moist Maker, the turkey sandwich at Central Perk Singapore is pretty fancy. Served in a small caste iron pan, several turkey slices sit in a toasted ciabatta bun alongside alfalfa sprouts and sun-dried tomatoes. The piece de resistance of this dish, is surprisingly not even on the sandwich, it’s actually the warm gravy served on the side. Tying the whole sandwich together, the gravy adds a whole dimension to the Moist Maker.
Mrs Braverman’s Cheesecake
[caption id="attachment_19131" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Mrs Braverman’s Cheesecake[/caption]While Rachel’s English Trifle wasn’t a feature on the menu (to be brutally honest, we aren’t sure if we would have the guts to sample that dish!), we did spot Mrs Braverman’s Cheesecake from Mama’s Little Bakery. No ordinary cheesecake, this original creation is plated with berries, layered with a passionfruit meringue and topped with popping candy and candied walnuts. With each bite, you can taste the light cheesecake paired with a fruity bite and a sort of fizzness from the popping candy. A delectable dessert that will you wishing you could have just another slice!
Central Perk Singapore has stayed true to its tv counterpart and a menu that serves up traditional dishes with its own unique twist. Casual or mega fan, either way, you’re going to enjoy spending hours here with your FRIENDS.

The Balvenie x James Stroud Partnership Is A Shining Light For Craftsmen Worldwide
The Balvenie is the world’s most handcrafted single malt. And they have been handcrafting it the traditional way for a long time in their Spreyside distillery.
Today, they’re renowned and have won multiple awards for their malt whiskies.
As testament to their commitment to and support of traditional craftsmanship, they have gone on a journey to find other craftsmen worldwide, assisting them with a bursary fund titled
In search of craftsmen dedicated to their craft
Heard of The Balvenie but can’t quite put your finger as to where?
Well then, you might have seen the videos on Youtube with Anthony Bourdain titled raw craft.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKgg38lQ_1k&list=PLdg0QhLNc29XuXmmv5Vu__bfNUeZI76ve
In the videos, he goes all over America in search of craftsmen, true to The Balvenie tradition.
James Stroud x The Balvenie
Similarly, The Balvenie has partnered with worldly acclaimed photographer,
After spending time with the people at the distillery and hearing their stories, Stroud was inspired by their dedication to their work. Hence, he chose their one-of-a-kind Spreyside distillery as his subject.
Succession
“I became fascinated by the fact that one human started a process that would be finished by another, years down the line.”
Stroud termed his art exhibition, succession, and focused on a theme, Time.
“I was surrounded by flaking paint and weather-battered equipment in a place of tangible ageing, where everything and everyone was maturing and getting better with time. My aim was to capture the sense that everything improves with age, just like a barrel of whisky.”
The process and result
Taking a year to assemble, the project was completed using a multitude of photography techniques, both old and new.
In the end, the collection features 11-unique pieces. These pieces showcase the spirit of craftsmanship at The Balvenie distillery in Dufftown, Scotland.
The exhibition was held in Singapore just recently.
Each image is broken up into grid systems and framed using wood from a 150-year-old American Church.
The result?
Absolutely stunning images that showcase the brand’s famed distillery coupled with a touch of pure craftsmanship.
Furthermore, Neil Strachan, regional brand ambassador for The Balvenie in Southeast Asia, elaborated,
“Many of our craftsman have been at the distillery their entire working lives and we are the only location still using all the five rare crafts of whisky making by hand, so James’ concept of time reflects our practices and ethos perfectly. The collection is astonishingly beautiful and wholly unique.”
Our Thoughts
The exhibition, succession, was hauntingly beautiful. Particularly, we loved how you could visibly see the ageing processes that feature so strongly in the 11 pieces.
Now, more so than ever, the commitment that The Balvenie has towards craftsmanship is admirable.
With technology steadily taking the human elements out of businesses, we are still offered some hope that craftsmen like James Stroud and ardent supporters like The Balvenie are still around. Trust us, we are all the better for it.

5 Places In Singapore So Eerie That You’ll Have Nightmares Just Exploring These Places
Halloween isn’t just about fun Halloween themed parties and terrifying movies (even though that’s a huge part of it!), it’s also the best time to do some exploring! Despite Singapore only being 51 years old, our tiny island is already full of scary stories and urban legends. While most of these places have been redeveloped or fenced up. We’ve complied the top 5 creepy places which are oddly picturesque and can still be explored!
Disclaimer: Some of these places are open to the public while some are not. Be careful when it comes to exploring!
1. Tanglin Hill Brunei Hostel

First built to protect Singapore’s then bustling port, Fort Serapong is located within Sentosa. But unlike Fort Siloso which has been well maintained, Fort Serapong is off the beaten track which makes it a lot less accessible. Be extra careful when exploring Fort Serapong, due to the rusty metal present and overgrown flora you might just trip and fall if you aren’t careful!
Spook factor: While not as creepy as the other spots, Fort Serapong is more like a historical spot. But seeing how it’s pretty far from any other main roads and walkways, there’s an eerie silence that overwhelms this spot.
4. Lim Chu Kang Jetty
[caption id="attachment_17011" align="alignnone" width="768"] Everythinkelse.wordpress.com[/caption][caption id="attachment_17009" align="alignnone" width="600"] Remember Singapore.org[/caption]
Lim Chu Kang Jetty may not be creepy at first sight, I mean how creepy can a jetty be right? Very, according to some sources who have made their way to this quiet spot. If you’re exploring the are you might catch a glimpse of an old white structure. Also known as The Cashin House, it’s now gated so you won’t be able to go exploring inside but just making your way around Lim Chu Kang Jetty you can feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck!
Spook Factor: Creepy house that no one has lived in? Check. Quiet jetty where no one can hear you scream? Double check.
5. St John Island

10 Questions Everyone Has About Boobs – Answered
Boobs. We all have them. For ladies they not only make your favourite dress look AMAZING they’re also functional as well (they feed lives)! While us ladies talk about boobs all the time – “where do you get your bras?” “what’s your cup size?” We never really get down to the tough and sometimes uncomfortable questions we worry about!
Here are 10 questions that EVERYONE has about boobs! And we’ve got the ANSWERS!
1. Mine are too small/big can I make them bigger/smaller?!
Every other girl I know isn’t happy with their boob size, and that’s pretty normal (the grass is always greener on the other side)! Here are some tips to make your breasts smaller or bigger!
Smaller:
(i) Lose Weight – Boobs are mostly fat, so by losing weight through working out and eating healthy you’ll definitely lose some breast volume!
(ii) Get Fitted For A Proper Bra – Getting a fitted bra that supports your boobs will seriously minimise breast, back, shoulder and neck discomfort!
(iii) Consult With Your Doctor – Discuss with your doctor some options you might have. In some extreme cases, plastic surgery may be the only option but it’s mostly good to get a doctor’s perspective!
Bigger:
(i) Work Out – There are tons of exercises that can you do that can increase your breast size too! Exercises like push ups and incorporating dumbbells into your workout can really up your cup size!
(ii) Wear A Push Up Or Padded Bra – A quick and easy fix, wearing either of these bras can make your boobs look a lot bigger! Our tip though, don’t go too crazy and get a bra that’s TOO padded.
(iii) Increase Your Calorie Intake – Don’t us wrong, we’re not telling you to binge on fatty or oily foods but having the occasional sweet treat and having slightly larger meals can also help up up your boob size!
2. How do I get rid of acne on my boobs?
Acne sucks, no matter where it is. Good thing is, treating acne on your boobs is exactly like treating acne on your face! Cleanse your chest area daily and use acne cream! Wearing loose fitting clothes and keeping your chest from sweating can stop acne from breaking out on your chest!
3.Will not wearing bras cause my boobs to sag?
There are only 2 reasons that cause boobs to sag. Gravity and age. Unfortunately wearing bras do not stop either of there! Alternatively, if you’re exercising, wearing sports bras do help sagging! So remember to put on your favourite sports bra when you’re working out!
4. My nipples itch, is that normal?
While itchy nipples aren’t normal, it’s quite common. Known as Atopic Dermatitis, it is usually caused by dry skin, certain chemicals in skin products or stress. To ease the itching, remember to moisturise after showering and avoid known triggers.
5. When SHOULD I see a doctor?
If you find:
- a painless lump in your breast or armpit
- a distinct change in the shape of your breast
- your nipples start bleeding or discharging.
6. I have tiny hairs on my nipples? Is that normal? Can I remove them?
Yes it’s totally normal! Usually caused by hormonal changes, hair growing on your nipples is just part of cycle! While you don’t have to remove them, you can use tweezers to pluck! Try to avoid shaving it might cause ingrown hairs and nicks if you’re not careful.
DO NOT PUT HAIR REMOVAL CREAM: Stay away from hair removal creams as it’ll cause your nipples to inflame (OUCH)!
7. I have bumps on my breast are they cancerous? How do I know which bumps are cancerous?
Don’t worry! While MOST bumps on your boobs are non-cancerous, it’s best to visit your doctor if you do find painless lumps on your breast alongside these other signs:
- changes in the shape of your nipple
- a lump that doesn’t go away after your period
- nipple discharge
- swelling around the collarbone or under the arm
8.My boobs are lopsided. Can I do something about it?
Having uneven breasts is actually really common! Using padded bras can help your breasts look more symmetrical. But if you’re constantly worried about how they look, it might be worth asking your doctor about breast augmentation!
9. Are men susceptible to breast cancer?
Yes men can get breast cancer. While men do not have high breast volume, they do have breast tissues too. Symptoms for breast cancer in men are similar to those in women, but men are more likely to delay seeing the doctor!
10.Why do my boobs hurt?
- Changes in hormone (your period is well on its way!)
- Pulled muscles (from workouts, lifting heavy things etc)
- Wrong bra size
- Exercising without a sports bra
Temporary aches and soreness in your boobs shouldn’t raise any red flags. But if the pain gets worse or if it’s been going on for a few weeks, you should consult your doctor!
Boobs are sometimes a pain (literally!) but they want make us feel well…us! Without them, we might not feel as feminine or as powerful! No matter what size we’re born with.
Which is why breast cancer is such a painful and difficult process to go through. Ladies who have had breast cancer and are now cancer free never feel the same about their body or themselves.
Breast cancer is the leading cancer that affects ladies and in 2012, it was reported that 1.7 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer! The silver lining? There are a lot of companies who support the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign! Bobbi Brown, Clinique and Estee Lauder are all supporting the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2016 by donating part of their profits to the campaign!
So if you’re looking to treat yourself with new facial products or make up why not purchase these products? They’re not only seriously good for your complexion but they’re also going towards a really meaningful cause!
