We’ve sourced 15 places in Singapore you MUST add to your Singapore bucket list!

PSA: This bucket list is strictly for Singaporeans, so don’t expect places like the Singapore Zoo on here. Even though we must admit our national zoo is really amazing.

MUST TRY

[caption id="attachment_15585" align="alignnone" width="1024"]treetop NParks.gov.sg[/caption] [caption id="attachment_15586" align="alignnone" width="960"]1-map NParks.gov.sg[/caption]

Located in MacRitchie Reservoir, the TreeTop Walk (TTW) is first free-standing bridge in Singapore and in the region.  Connecting the two highest points (Bukit Peirce and Bukit Kalang) in MacRitchie, the TTW offers a bird’s eye view of the sprawling rainforest below! The total length of the walkway is about 250 m with the highest point at 25 m!

Get your hiking shoes ready because there are 2 main routes that will get you to the TTW. Both of which are moderately difficult to tackle. The shorter of the two route spans 7km and will take about you about 3-4 hours. Starting from Venus Drive, this route will take you through the northern and north-western part of MacRitchie Reservoir. The longer route spans an astounding 10km and will take you about 5 hours to tackle! However it’s the best route if you want to take in the whole MacRitchie as it takes you from the eastern side of MacRitchie right up to TTW!

A perfect weekend date if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the TreeTopWalk lets you truly experience the natural wonder of Singapore’s rainforest! Best part? It’s free!

Chai Chee Folks – A Super Good Fish Head Steamboat Place Has Opened Near You!

For fish head steamboat lovers, Whampoa Keng is a familiar name, notably offering patrons wholesome fish and tasty broth.

Founded in 1990, Whampoa Keng has since opened its third outlet. Best of all? It’s located in the heartlands, in Chai Chee Neighbourhood!

What is on the Menu at Whampoa Keng Fish Head Steamboat?

We headed down and had a taste of the oh-so-good food. Be warned, don’t read on an empty stomach!

1. Fish Head Steamboat

Served in a traditional pot with charcoal burning in the centre, Whampoa Keng makes their own soup stock, keeping the soup broth sweet and rich. Carnation milk is added to the broth to give it a slightly thicker texture.

[caption id="attachment_15490" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Fish Head Steamboat Whampoa Keng Credit: Rachel Lim[/caption]

Remarkably, 3 different types of fish are offered; Bardan Fish, Bucket Pomfret and Red Grouper.

Fresh fish is used everyday, with the meat marinated in their secret recipe before going into the steamboat, giving it a tender and firm bite.

No wonder, because this pot of goodness was polished off quickly!

2. Speciality Food Street Tofu (SGD $10-20)

[caption id="attachment_15494" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Credit: Rachel Credit: Rachel[/caption]

This egg tofu was smooth and silky. Generously doused in an abalone based sauce, it is the perfect companion to the Fish Head Steamboat

3. Signature Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs with Fried Cod Fish (SGD $15-25)

A unique dish found only in Whampoa Keng, the spare ribs are both sticky and sweet!

[caption id="attachment_15495" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Credit: Rachel Lim Credit: Rachel Lim[/caption]

Cod fish was shredded into thin strips and fried till crisp. The combination of fried cod fish and sweet sticky pork ribs was heavenly!

4. Salted Egg Yolk Prawns (SGD $20-$40)

[caption id="attachment_15496" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Credit: Rachel Lim Credit: Rachel Lim[/caption]

Another all time favourite – Salted Egg Yolk Prawns! Fresh, succulent and juicy prawns were cooked with the house made salted egg yolk sauce. Expect a spicy kick to the salted egg yolk goodness with the scattered chilli padi.

5. Signature Prawn Paste Chicken Wings (SGD $10-$20)

[caption id="attachment_15493" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Fish Head Steamboat Whampoa Keng Credit: Rachel Lim[/caption]

No, I’m not recommending you any Korean Bingsu. I know you’ve seen enough of the Kimchi-Land dessert.

This lovely Purple Sweet Potato Milky Snow Mountain is the proud creation of Niceday Taiwan Snow & Grass Jelly Desserts. The base is made using silky smooth grass jelly all the way from Taiwan, covered with a mountain of fluffy ice shavings and chewy balls.

Imagine yourself in Taipei as you enjoy the pleasant bowl of dessert. Notice a small bowl of Taro Q mix and mochi balls in a separate bowl? Add in the balls to your dessert when you wish, otherwise the balls may become stiff in the icy bowl if they are put together.

So thoughtful of the owner to make sure the dessert is served in the best condition!

5. Epicurious Cafe

[caption id="attachment_14320" align="alignnone" width="900"]rainbow-cheese-toastie-desserts Image Credit: Daniel Food Diary[/caption]

First it was rainbow cake making the Insta-rounds. Then earlier in the year, videos of rainbow-coloured cheeses stretching in various postures went viral, thanks to Kala Toast in Hong Kong. And now, our own Epicurious Cafe has also created the first Rainbow Cheese Toastie in Singapore.

The rainbow is made up of 5 different colours and flavours: Pink (beetroot), Orange (carrot), Green (Spinach), Blue (potato and garlic with butterfly pea) and Violet (eggplant and red cabbage).

Great to know that it’s made using natural ingredients and minimal colouring. At least we can eat this appealing cheese toastie at ease! Have fun stretching your rainbow for the best shots before you tuck in to the crispy and buttery toast!

Located in a shop unit of the first floor in the old commercial Sultan Plaza building, The Pound‘s classier decor makes it stand out from the rest of the shops. The Pound is a small cafe specializing in premium Dutch Iced Coffees and homemade cakes. Unlike other Korean-owned cafes, they do not sell the Korean Bingsu.

What you will find here is roll cakes that look so delicately tasteful. Leave some stomach space after a satisfying kopitiam meal nearby for their Earl Grey Roll Cake. Light with a chiffon-like texture, the earl grey flavour was subtle and a perfect dessert for a complete meal.
