If you’re craving for some artsy desserts, then 2am : dessertbar is the place for you. For the majority of us who can never seem to grasp the concept of modern art, we can focus on the taste of the desserts instead.

The thing about this dessert bar is that they actually recommend alcohol pairings with the dessert that you select. Desserts to try are the Cassis Plum ($24), Cacao Forest ($24), and the Tsujihei Green Tea Tart ($20).

The dishes are all carefully plated and look like an abstract art piece that’s almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

Prices here are steep but great service, ambience and food makes the trip to Holland Village worth it.

2. PS.Cafe at Ann Siang Hill

PS.Cafe has many outlets all over Singapore but the Ann Siang Hill branch is the only one that opens till 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.

Always a good place to hang out and chill, PS.Cafe serves a wide variety of drinks, from coffees and teas to juices and milkshakes. There’s also alcohol if you’re in the mood.

For dessert, order the Sticky Date Pudding ($15) which comes sitting in a pool of toffee sauce.

3. Cook & Brew

Cook & Brew is a gastro bar in Asia Square Tower 2 in the Marina Bay area.

With an exhaustive menu of wines, beers, cocktails and other spirits, Cook & Brew is the perfect place to chill if you’re in the area with a big group of friends.

Also, it’s a Scottish bar so you never need to worry about a small drink menu. They have over 250 selections of whiskies for you to choose from. If whisky isn’t your thing, then try their micro-brewed beers.

The live band starts performing at 8.30pm daily. Bring your friends down to Highlander for a fun night!

Mogambo at Boat Quay is a bar that’s inspired by the Mogambo in Tokyo. The restaurant has 2 bars; an island-style bar and an outdoor bar for al fresco diners.

The drinks menu is extensive, ranging from liqueurs to beers, spirits, shots and champagnes. There’s even a Mogambo bell that customers can ring for a round of shots.

Definitely a great place to hang out with a large group of friends. Just don’t drive after, okay?

Highly rated coffee specialty store from Hong Kong, The Coffee Academics finally opened its first outlet in Singapore in 2015. Interestingly, their impressive interior goes beyond mere spacious and splendid.

The interior of The Coffee Academics looks like a mash-up of a fancy cafe and science laboratory, yet the different design themes within the cafe complement each other in perfect harmony.

At one end, there is a Japanese-style table with tatami-like seats, perhaps catering to the affluent Japanese tai-tais. The other corner is filled with bar-like tables while the rest of the dining tables are spread out across its spacious interior.

Naturally, coffee would be their signature here, with seven coffee-making stations located around the cafe. Complement your coffee with their extensive selection of food, ranging from all-day breakfasts, pizzas and delectable desserts. Its swanky interior will no doubt make you want to put on your sassiest outfit!

3. Boufe Boutique Cafe

Boufe Boutique Cafe is located deep within Phoenix Park. While getting here is going to prove quite a walk, the effort will certainly be worth it.

This boutique cafe will certainly blow you away with their sleek white-black minimalist interior and furniture. Naturally, its hipster feel will make you want to whip out your best weekend brunch outfit for that #ootd shot with Boufe’s gorgeous interior.

Joining the slew of hipster cafes along Neil Road is Populus Coffee & Food Co. Despite being around for less than two years, this brainchild of the folks behind the Department of Caffeine has been garnering a lot of attention on social media and amongst cafe-hoppers.

PS.Cafe & Prawn Mee – It Will Wow Your Tastebuds

PS.Cafe is one of those names that every Singaporean knows and now, slowly, Malaysians are getting introduced to. The Malaysian managing editor at Foodie Vs The World, Sarah, has heard rave reviews about this place from her friends and has indeed also tried one of the outlets when she was visiting Singapore. We’ve mostly heard about the widely known truffle fries, but PS.Cafe serves up more than just great truffle fries.

We made a trip down to the Palais Renaissance outlet one day to try their dry prawn mee, a classic local dish, sure to please many a tastebud.

PS.Cafe has a lovely al fresco seating area for those who like to enjoy a little piece of nature while eating.

PS.Cafe has an asian menu comprising 9 different Asian dishes, all of which are instilled with a little bit of creativity to bring out the fusion between the East and the West. We were introduced to one of people’s favourite, the Dry Prawn Mee.

According to the head chef of PS.Cafe, Chef Wai, the uniqueness of this dish comes from the preparation of the prawn paste. Unlike the usual hawker way of adding different condiments (black sauce, dried chilli etc) together, the chef makes use of prawn shell reduce as well as other ingredients to create the prawn concentrate.

The ingredients in the Dry Prawn Mee are pork belly, prawns, kang kong, bean sprouts and 2 quail eggs. Pasta noodles instead of egg noodles are used to marry the very Asian style of preparation with the very Western styled noodles. Noodles are prepared al dente to give it that perfect texture.

The noodles itself are tangy and full-flavoured as the prawn concentrate is very well absorbed into the noodles. Like the pasta, the shrimps are perfectly cooked to bring out the firmness when first bitten into, before yielding to a softness on the inside. The pork belly is also another element that is cooked to perfection. At the first sip, the soup broth is rich in flavour and slightly spicy. Readers be warned: this dish is highly addictive. If the soup is simply not enough for you, there is a little pot that comes with the dish containing additional prawn soup.

The only setback, we believe, is that the dish can get a little oily, but it is worth every calorie consumed.

Singapore’s best prawn mee may well be at an unexpected location – not at our beloved hawkers, but at a cosy cafe. For a delightful twist of our local favourite dish, head on down to PS.Cafe and savour the sweet soup with prawns and pasta noodles done to perfection.

Not just indulgent, but also pretty. This dessert tempts and delights! First off, everything on the plate is edible, from the flowers to the fluffy spun sugar decoration. The highlight is the pink rose meringue, which hides the yuzu cream, vanilla creme chantilly and vanilla ice-cream filling that pairs perfectly with the decadent meringue casing and the strawberries on the side. Irresistible!

Tsujirihei Green Tea Tart from 2am: dessert bar

You’ve heard of chocolate lava, but what about green tea lava? That’s what you’ll get when you cut open this green tea tart. The molten green tea centre isn’t overly sweet, and it goes extremely well with the crumbly tart and the sherbet on the side.  2am : dessert bar is known for a variety of other innovative dessert creations, but for green tea lovers, this is the standout pick.

Soft Serve Ice Cream Cone From Sunday Folks

A hot favourite dessert place on Burpple, Sunday Folks never serves up a boring cone, with the variety of toppings including Royce’s chocolate cubes, caramel popcorn, souffle cheesecake squares, fancy pocky sticks and more. As for the soft serve, their Earl Grey Lavender and Sea Salt Gula Melaka are hot favourites.
