There’s A Job That Lets You Fly Around The World To Sleep On Hotel Beds – And It’s Hiring

We’ve heard of the “Best Job In The World”.

Now, leading e-commerce travel platform ZUJI is going to challenge that title with their own position.

That’s right. ZUJI Singapore is looking for an individual to be their “Hospitality Curator” (nicknamed Bed Tester) who will be responsible for trying all of the beds available to customers, ensuring that the beds have the ZUJI seal of approval before being sold.

Applicants will need to have a thirst for travel and appreciation for culture across the globe.

If hired, the official “Bed Tester” will be flown in business class at all times, and will be encouraged to spend time in each destination, getting to know the local cultural background.

Singaporeans are definitely spoilt for choice when it comes to concerts. There are so many artists and performers who make Singapore a stop in their world tour, or even as part of a music festival.

Well known for his amazing collaborations with the likes of Troye Sivan, Alessia Cara and Ariana Grande, fans can expect to hear his latest and greatest hits such as “Clarity”, “The Middle” and “Stay”.

OneRepublic will be returning to Singapore on 23 April 2018 for a one night only concert at The Star Theatre @ The Star Performing Arts Centre!

Following the release of their latest album, “Oh My My”, OneRepublic is finally bringing their music back to Singapore.

Fans can expect to hear OneRepublic’s classic songs such as “Counting Stars”, “I Lived”, “Secrets” as well as their more recent hits such as “Wherever I Go” and “No Vacancy”.

Both had soundtracks featuring songs composed by well-known Korean classical composer and pianist, Yiruma.

Following his sold out concerts in 2015, 2016 and 2017, Yiruma will be returning to Singapore on 28 April 2018 for a one night only performance at The Star Theatre.

Sam Smith will be coming to Singapore on 2 October 2018 for a ONE NIGHT ONLY performance!

While ticketing details have not been released at the moment, we do know that he will be performing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium!

The tour announcement follows the release of his latest album ‘The Thrill Of It All’ back in November 2017.

Fans will be able to watch Sam Smith perform hits from the album, such as the emotional “Too Good At Goodbyes”, “One Last Song” and “Burning”.

Who knows? He might even sing some of his older songs that we’re all familiar with.

SING JAZZ 2018 Returns This April With The Best That Jazz Has To Offer

The annual Singapore International Jazz Festival (SING JAZZ) returns for its 5th edition at Marina Bay Sands Singapore from 6 – 8 April 2018!

This year promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Featuring headliners such as Ms. Lauryn Hill, Jamie Cullum, Lalah Hathaway, Parov Stellar, visionary French artist Sebastian Tellier, Brazilian guitar legend Paulinho Garcia, as well as internationally renowned DJs, Sasha and Ferry Corsten!

SING JAZZ 2018 will be expanded across the Marina Bay waterfront, with 3 stages and over 30 hours of world-class music entertainment!

The Main Stage

The Main Stage will see many big names performing over the 3 days of the festival.

Sebastian Tellier, Paulinho Garcia, Parov Stelar, Gogo Penguin and Weish take the main stage on the first day of the festival.

The second day sees Jamie Cullum take the stage, together with Lalah Hathaway, Tompi, and the Teng Ensemble.

Jeremy Monteiro leads JASSO (The Jazz Association SG Orchestra) on the third day, along with the House of the Gypsies, Brand New Heavies, and Incognito, featuring Omar and Leee John.

Main Stage performances start at 5pm to 10.30pm on Friday, and 4pm to 10.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The Late Show

No this isn’t the one with Stephen Colbert.

However, this Late Show does have a few big names too.

The first Late Show on Friday will feature Estelle, DJ Sasha, DJ Ferry Corsten, DJ Drem, Soul II Soul, and Tim De Cotta.

The second and last Late Show will see the legendary Ms. Lauryn Hill herself, take the stage. Other performers include MAS1A, DJ Nu-Mark, and DJ Jnr Tirso.

The Solo category matches will be held on 31 March 2018, with prizes worth up to $500 to be won. The Team category matches will be held on 1 April 2018 with $1500 worth of prizes to be won.

We Tried A Chatbot That Lets You Play A Character In A Local Novel – Here’s How The Story Ended

I love reading. Though nowadays the few things I read seem to be emails, text messages and articles on social media.

Did you know that Singapore has quite an extensive collection of local literature?

To get people to read and explore local literature, the Singapore Book Council (SBC), in collaboration with DDB Singapore, has launched “Chatbooks“.

As its name implies, Chatbooks is a chatbot that mimics authors messaging users, to share their stories.

This comes as part of the #BuySingLit movement – an industry-led movement created to encourage people to discover and embrace Singapore literature.

Chatbot For Bookworms

Chatbooks combines a chatbot with books by local authors. The user receives text messages that leads them to the heart of the story, and allows them to participate in the story by making decisions as the story progresses.

Intrigued, I tried Chatbooks for myself.

First up, head to the BuySingLit Facebook page, click on “Send Message”, then “Get Started”.

The chatbot will prompt you to select a book to read. Currently there are 5 titles for readers to choose from. 2 in English, 1 in Mandarin, 1 in Bahasa Melayu, and 1 in Tamil.

Because I jiak kentang, I went for an English one.

I’m going to be honest.

I was a little creeped out when the first message I got after selecting a book title, was an audio clip. Thank goodness it was just an annoying audio clip of an alarm clock ringing. You know, to set the mood.

If my Macbook had started laughing like Amazon’s Alexa, I would’ve tossed it out of the window.

I don’t need a haunting. Not again.

None of the options had me sprinting out of bed to the office. And calling in sick was an option apparently.

“Hello boss? Yes I’m aware that the Merlion Alpha Delta satellite has crashed. But I’m having the runs. Going to see the doctor now.” *hangs up*

Moving on.

Well I wasn’t thinking of butterflies. But now I am. There are 2 options. Back to bed or go for a walk. What about the 20 messages from office and the crashed satellite?

Okay, to be fair, I thought going for a walk would lead me to office, so that the story could progress instead of having me lying in bed.

Casual existential crisis. FINALLY, I have an option to just get to work. And BAM! Dead phone.

Just get me to the office already!!!

Okay, I should’ve gone to work, since I was so eager. But I actually thought about this and decided to charge my phone because a dead phone is dead weight.

Don’t judge. I was already fully immersed and emotionally invested in this narrative. Next.

This is some Cloverfield Paradox situation that we have on our hands. I was in full white-girl-in-horror-movie mode at this point.

“OMG another me behind me? Let’s reach out and touch it!”

I honestly cannot even. It was getting good!

At the end of the experience, the bot even tells you a bit about the author, which is great. Because I need to know the person who brought my casual existential crisis to life.

Chatbooks is incredibly immersive. Prior to trying it out, I wasn’t even aware that it was a synopsis.

It almost felt like a game, given that I had control over the character’s decision-making process. Now I have to find the book by Tania De Rozario, to find out whether my character lives or dies or has a clone.

Though there are only 5 titles available currently, I hope that Chatbooks will continue adding to their library.

We need a zombie survival title for Chatbooks. That should be interesting.

With various themed inflatables, the Art-Zoo is not just colourful, it’s incredibly fun.

The first thing that’ll capture your attention, is the huge Unicorn, rising above the rest of the inflatables.

The most fabulous inflatable in the park, is the “Magical Rainbow” inflatable slide.

Standing at 19m, this inflatable is nearly as tall as 4 and half double-deck buses stacked on top of one another!

Step into “The Beetles”, which are a cluster of inflatables resembling ladybirds. The largest ladybird is hollow and contains multiple luminous balls that make for the perfect Kodak moment.

Another inflatable to look out for is the “BBB – Bubbly Bear Bath” which features the iconic Art-Zoo bear in a bath, complete with 150,000 white balls and other inflatables such as a body brush and a bar of soap!

This is a fun one because it’s essentially a ball pit. However, do watch out as it can get slippery.
