5 Minutes With Kimberley Yong: Travel Enthusiast, Writer & Starbucks Junkie

A model, blogger, and travel enthusiast– Kimberley Yong is certainly a force not to be trifled with. Read on to find out more about Discover SG’s 20 year old brand ambassador!

1. Hi Kimberley! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello, my name is Kimberley and I’m 20 years old this year. Being someone who loves adventure, traveling is definitely a huge hobby of mine. For the longest time, it has been my dream to travel all over the world. I hope I will be able to accomplish that dream someday. We’ll see.

2. What got you into blogging/photography?

I guess writing and capturing picture worthy moments is just a part who I am. Many people who don’t know me wouldn’t expect me to be sentimental. But in actual fact, I am. When I am in a new place or when I experience something new, I want to document every moment of it. I guess it’s just me trying to give my future self something to look back on.

3. What is your favourite place to eat and hang out?

I like to hang out at a Starbucks near my house. The story goes way back but let’s just say I made a handful of life long worthy friends there. That place just feels as good as home.

4. What’s your favourite bar ? Do you have a favourite drink?

My favourite bar has got to be Empire. I’m a huge fan of rooftop bars and Empire has it all.  I love the fries at Empire and nothing beats sipping a glass of gin and tonic while enjoying the view.

5. What is something you have too much of?

I think I have too much clothes. For some reason, I always feel as if I have nothing to wear.

6. What is something you never have enough of?

I can never get enough of spending time with the people I love.

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

7. Is there something you hope to achieve in 5-10 years?

I envision myself being happily married to the love of my life. Probably starting a family of my own and of course, pursuing a career that I enjoy.

8. Tell us one country/place you really want to visit

I really want to visit Cambodia. It may be very unexpected of me to say Cambodia but I really want to visit the country I was born in.

10.What is your biggest regret?

My biggest regret would be not believing in myself enough when I was younger. Due to my insecurities as a young teenager, I didn’t feel very confident and that led me to stop pursuing what I actually loved at that age – which was continuing my blogshop and being a YouTuber.

11.What is your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment so far would be that one time when I sung a solo in front of 1000 people during a play for my school’s 150th anniversary.

13

13. What is your go-to piece of clothing?

Crop tops. I think they’re cute, effortless and easy to style. It’s a go-to look for me especially when I’m living in such a hot country like Singapore.

14. What is one makeup product you can’t live without?

I can’t live without eyeliner. There’s just something about the intensity it brings out in my eyes I can’t leave the house without. It makes me feel sexy.

 15. Lastly, I love your sense of style! Where do you shop?

My usual shopping places are TEMT, H&M, Forever 21 and Editor’s Market.

What’s better than a little French Food to spice up your week? Nothing really according to DSG’s brand ambassador Kimberley Yong.

Supported by The French Ministry of Agriculture, DiningCity, played host for this year’s Le Semaine Francaise (or The French Week for us English speakers). Kimberley tasted some delicate french hors d’oeuvres paired with classic French wines against the backdrop of classic architecture.

For the rest of us who missed out on the event, do not fret! From 10 to 17 September, 25 restaurants across the city will be offering dining deals on exquisite French foods and wine. Head down to both fusion and classic French restaurants such as Absinthe, Oso Grill, OCF, Lewin Terrace and Saveur for exclusively crated lunch ($40++) and dinner ($58++) set menus.

The best part of French Week? You receive a complimentary glass of French Red or White wine when you order the lunch or dinner set menu at any participating eatery!

Haze Is Back YET AGAIN – Here Are How Singaporeans Reacted To It This Morning.

If you woke up this morning and thought there was something wrong with your sight, don’t worry it isn’t just you. The whole Singapore has been filling up with smog since 3am this morning.

Across social media channels, Singaporeans have been using the hashtag #sghaze to respond to the haze with frustration and the usual bit of sarcasm.

Waking up in the morning to be greeted with great weather.

Some Singaporeans aren’t relying on the NEA PSI readings, and to be honest we have to agree with them.

We still have to be thankful for the clean air we have received from Indonesia, because clean air for the whole year is WAY TOO MUCH to ask for.

Just like a bad nightmare we can’t wake up from, the haze is going to get to you sooner or later!

Never Say #bojio Again: MakanBus Brings You To All The Food Places You’re Sure To Love

Let’s be honest, the best food in Singapore aren’t always very accessible. While you can find some local eats near MRTs or near the city,we all know the best local food are scattered all over our sunny island. Unfortunately for those of us who don’t have access to a car, it can be pretty difficult to get to these places.

Not anymore.

Tourists and Singaporeans alike can now explore the heartlands and try some famous local eats. The

(Image credit: on their website, for a flat fee of $28. Commuters can hop on and off the bus which runs from 11am to 7.30pm at 20 minute intervals. Passengers will also be given a map listing more than 20 eateries, most within walking distance from the pick up/drop off points.

While the MakanBus may only have one route right now, they plan to offer another route exploring the eastern side of Singapore (Yes! There are so many amazing eats in the East!) as well themed routes for special occasions such as Hari Raya.

MakanBus is definitely a game changer for us foodies who want to explore hidden food joints in the heartlands yet have no access to a car. What’s great about the MakanBus is the flexibility it provides, something other food tours aren’t able to. As a local Singaporean, I am definitely intrigued by the MakanBus and I’m pretty sure I can rope in a few of my friends to test it out!

For now, the Lower Seletar Reservoir still stands with only small developments making it a nice place to sit and chat during cool evenings. While we might just have to settle for Universal Studios for the foreseeable future, I just keep thinking won’t it be AMAZING if a new amusement park was developed at this scenic stretch? It’ll definitely boost Yishun’s street cred!
