Style With An Edge – Hardy Hardy F/W 2016 Will Bring Out Your Rebellious Side

Singapore Fashion Week has just passed us and while there were some amazing eye catching collections on the runway, one particular collection that caught our attention is Hardy Hardy!

[caption id="attachment_17441" align="alignnone" width="756"]www.angeliquebohbot.com fet2 Hardy Hardy Fall/Winter 2016 Collection[/caption]

Hardy Hardy is all about embracing the young, spirited and rebellious wearer. While the street wear label does have a Dawn of the the Dead signature logo that is quite reminiscent of Ed Hardy’s skull motif, Hardy Hardy embodies a sense of urban cool than is pretty far from Ed Hardy’s signature looks.

Hardy Hardy Fall/Winter 2016 Collection

[caption id="attachment_17445" align="alignnone" width="682"]look-5_full Edgy Street Style[/caption]

After taking a sneak peak at their Fall/Winter 2016 Collection, we must admit Hardy Hardy has definitely set a new bar for edgy cool street wear. While some of you might deem the street wear label as too dark and edgy for daily wear, you’d be surprised! Most of Hardy Hardy’s pieces are really versatile and gives your outfit the perfect edgy feel! Here are some pieces from the Fall/Winter 2016 Collection that are actually incredibly wearable (and they look amazing)!

[caption id="attachment_17443" align="alignnone" width="682"]look-2_mid Studded Cropped Denim Jacket[/caption]

Let’s be honest, there’s really nothing more versatile than a denim jacket! Trade your regular blue denim jacket for this beauty! The metallic studs just gives off whole ‘kick ass’ vibe, pair with a summer dress if you’re feeling a little rebellious or dress up a laid back t-shirt and jeans look! Either way, this piece is a must have in any wardrobe!

[caption id="attachment_17446" align="alignnone" width="682"]look-14_full Pops Of Colour At Fall/Winter 2016 Show[/caption]

Edgy cool doesn’t always meaning donning an all-black outfit. Pairing their monochromatic outfits with pops of colour and we must say it looks amazing! And that velvet bomber jacket? It’s on our official Christmas Wishlist!

[caption id="attachment_17447" align="alignnone" width="1000"]untitled-design-95 Men’s Fall/Winter 2016 Collection[/caption]

The label’s Men’s Collection is all about all black urban cool ensemble. The men’s collection embodies a sense of mental toughness with a slight underlining vibe of poetic romanticism. Black studded and bomber jackets were a favourite feature at the brand’s Fall/Winter 2016 show, with minimal detailing and a rugged finish we can see why!

Hardy Hardy Signature Logo

[caption id="attachment_17449" align="alignnone" width="1000"]untitled-design-93 Signature Logo[/caption]

Looking to stand out from the crowd? With brand’s  jacket embossed with the brand’s signature logo you’ll definitely be the envy of the crowd! Paired with a simple t-shirt and jeans or with a flirty summer dress, either way this the only edgy cool jacket you’ll ever really need!

10 Things Only A Coffee Addict Who Needs At Least A Cup Of Coffee A Day Will Know

Be it espresso, cappuccino or latte; as long as it’s coffee, it’ll get you through the day. Noticed how the above selection is listed in a specific order? If you’ve no idea what we’re talking about, it’s best you take your leave. We kid.

Basically heaven in a mug, we can’t remember a time when coffee wasn’t a part of our lives. To celebrate our love for the beverage, we’ve come up with a list of things only a coffee addict lover can relate to. FYI, it is not just a beverage to keep us awake in the mornings (though it helps).

1. Waking Up to the Smell of Coffee

[caption id="attachment_16345" align="alignnone" width="500"]Source: Bestanimations.com Source: Bestanimations.com[/caption]

Ahh yes, nothing satisfies you more than waking up to its delicious aroma. Forget the alarm clock, as soon as the smell starts wafting in, you’ll be up in no time.

2. Life Begins Only After Coffee

[caption id="attachment_16361" align="alignnone" width="245"]Source: Tumblr.com Source: Tumblr.com[/caption]

Seriously, why do people even try talking to you before you’ve had your morning cup? Do they not understand your inability to function as a human being before that?

3. Having A Coffee-Bathroom Schedule

[caption id="attachment_16343" align="alignnone" width="500"]Source: Bestanimations.com Source: Bestanimations.com[/caption]

You know how it uh, tends to speed things up in the bowel department? Let’s just say that having the ability to predict your bathroom habits (especially in the mornings) is a very useful skill.

4. Knowing the Difference Between A Macchiato and A Mochaccino

[caption id="attachment_16349" align="alignnone" width="497"]Source: Media.tenor.com Source: Media.tenor.com[/caption]

Not to be a snob, but it’s important to know the different types of coffee so you can choose what suits you best at that time. Need an instant perk-me-up? An espresso will do the trick. In need of a  dessert? An affogato will do more than satisfy.

5. Not Understanding People Who Don’t Like Coffee

[caption id="attachment_16348" align="alignnone" width="500"] Source: Tumblr.com[/caption]

Ever. How can people not like it? It just doesn’t make any sense. Oh well, that’s more coffee for me then.

6. Decaf Is An Abomination

[caption id="attachment_16351" align="alignnone" width="500"]Source: Tumblr.com Source: Tumblr.com[/caption]

Why even bother drinking coffee then? If there’s any lesson to learn here, it’s to not trust anybody who drinks decaf.

7. Developing A Caffeine Immunity

[caption id="attachment_16352" align="alignnone" width="500"]Source: Gifs.alphacoders.com Source: Gifs.alphacoders.com[/caption]

Face it, the caffeine barely works on you anymore. The bad news is you’ll probably need more than just a cup in the morning. The good news? Before-sleep coffees are now officially a thing. How great is that?

8. Bad Coffee Is Better Than None

[caption id="attachment_16350" align="alignnone" width="500"]Source: Awesomelyluvvie.com Source: Awesomelyluvvie.com[/caption]

You know how sometimes you’re ordering your meal and the cashier informs you of the faulty coffee machine? Or when you’re at a hawker centre and the uncle says he has only 3-in-1? Regardless of the situation, you’ll do anything to get your hands on your cuppa. Whether it is buying one from the café next door or taking the instant coffee, bad coffee is better than no coffee.

9. Being Warned Of Your Coffee Intake

[caption id="attachment_16357" align="alignnone" width="480"]Source: Metro.co.uk Source: Metro.co.uk[/caption]

“Aiyoh, how many cups have you drank?”

“Yah lor, don’t drink so much lah.”

And these are just some of the things you’ve heard from your non-understanding, non coffee addict, but nonetheless caring friends.

10. There’s. Never. Too. Much. Coffee

[caption id="attachment_16355" align="alignnone" width="500"]Source: Tumblr.com Source: Tumblr.com[/caption]

If you’ve been nodding to three or more of the above, you may love it just a little too much. Well as long as you’re not drinking eight cups a day every single day, we say there is nothing wrong with y’know, having a strong appreciation for this beverage.

Long live coffee.

6 Places Nathan Hartono Might Head To For His Bak Chor Mee Cravings

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past weekend, you would know who Nathan Hartono is and what exactly he’s accomplished.

For those who have no clue who he is, Nathan Hartono, a local born talent won first runner up in popular singing reality show Sing! China (the furthest any Singaporean has placed!). Not only did this local singer start a Milo craze which resulted in milo trucks making an appearance at Plaza Singapura, he also gave this popular local dish a special shoutout, BAK CHOR MEE!

Bak Chor Mee is the quintessential comfort food, not only can you find it in every other coffeeshop, you can have it in so many different ways! Here at DSG, we’re always on the hunt for the best foods and that (of course) includes Bak Chor Mee. Here are the top 6 places where you (and Nathan Hartono) can satisfy those Bak Chor Mee cravings!

1. Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle

Dishes at Macpherson Minced Meat Noodles are prepared individually and are crafted with springy noodles and stripes of braised pork belly and crispy lard. Nathan Hartono Clinches Silver At Sing! China 2016 – It’s Ok We Still Love You!

Nathan Hartono, our local representative managed to clinch silver in Sing! China 2016, one of the biggest talent competitions in China.

While Hartono managed to qualify for the finals, he lost to competitor Jiang Dunhao at the finals earlier tonight (Oct 7). Jiang, who is only 21, won the singing competition with 56.7 per cent of the votes.

For his finale performance, Hartono performed a moving rendition of Mavis Hee’s Moonlight in the City (Cheng Li De Yue Guang) followed by Anita Mui’s Nu Ren Hua as he took the stage earlier this evening.

The three month reality singing competition saw Hartono beating out thousands who auditioned for Sing! China to clinch the second position. Jay Chou, the reigning king of mando pop (at least to most of us!), who Hartono chose as his mentor added:

“People who usually sing my songs don’t end up very well. In the past, they have been eliminated. But I hope Hartono can break this curse.”

The 25 year old’s first runner up position is also the highest any Singaporean has fared in the popular Chinese reality singing competition.

Nathan Hartono might not have clinched the gold at Sing! China 2016, but he’s definitely found a way into all our hearts!

15 Must Eat, Must Drink And Must Try Spots In Singapore!

Singapore is jam packed with amazing restaurants, cafes, bars and local attractions. Let’s be honest, Singapore has such a wide variety of attractions that it can actually be pretty difficult to choose which to do. Do not fret. We’ve sourced 15 places in Singapore you MUST add to your Singapore bucket list!

PSA: This bucket list is strictly for Singaporeans, so don’t expect places like the Singapore Zoo on here. Even though we must admit our national zoo is really amazing.

MUST TRY

1. Take A Hike @ MacRitchie Reservoir’s TreeTop Walk

[caption id="attachment_15585" align="alignnone" width="1024"]treetop NParks.gov.sg[/caption] [caption id="attachment_15586" align="alignnone" width="960"]1-map NParks.gov.sg[/caption]

Located in MacRitchie Reservoir, the TreeTop Walk (TTW) is first free-standing bridge in Singapore and in the region.  Connecting the two highest points (Bukit Peirce and Bukit Kalang) in MacRitchie, the TTW offers a bird’s eye view of the sprawling rainforest below! The total length of the walkway is about 250 m with the highest point at 25 m!

Get your hiking shoes ready because there are 2 main routes that will get you to the TTW. Both of which are moderately difficult to tackle. The shorter of the two route spans 7km and will take about you about 3-4 hours. Starting from Venus Drive, this route will take you through the northern and north-western part of MacRitchie Reservoir. The longer route spans an astounding 10km and will take you about 5 hours to tackle! However it’s the best route if you want to take in the whole MacRitchie as it takes you from the eastern side of MacRitchie right up to TTW!

A perfect weekend date if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the TreeTopWalk lets you truly experience the natural wonder of Singapore’s rainforest! Best part? It’s free!

The newest line of freakshakes at Benjamin Brown is their Cerealsly Crunch Shakes, their most decadent? The Fruity Pebbles of course! Served in a jar, this milkshake is topped with our favourite childhood treats! Not only is it seriously eye catching and decadent it’s also a blast from our past!

Just getting into this speakeasy bar is a monumental feat. At first glance The Library just seems to be an empty space filled with bookshelves, but this misleading facade is just step one into gaining entrance into The Library.
